Aside from the fact that this is a slippery slope, if he’s gunna do it he should do it for every team too. All the tanking teams that say their guys are injured, he should go verify them all

Welcome to the internet. Where people will literally complain no matter what you do. I’m sure there are people who’d complain if someone cured cancer tomorrow.

From what I’ve seen, the Jazz tanking issue is split. Some think it’s a massive problem making the tanking situation worse than ever. Others believe playing 3 quarters is better than playing 0 quarters. Personally, I’m in the latter camp.

But none of that matters because Silver’s respond is a joke. He isn’t doing it for every team, which means he’s just picking on the Jazz instead of doing it to address tanking.

And even if he is trying to stop tanking, he shouldn’t question the team doctor’s diagnosis of the player. For example, what if the league doctor and team doctor have different opinions? You can’t say the league doctor is right and the team doctor is wrong. And if you feel a team doctor would commit fraud and just fake a diagnosis, why wouldn’t a league doctor do the same because Silver wants players to play? A team has way more incentive to protect a player than the league because the player is the team’s asset.

Because a team like the Jazz won’t create a market loss for the NBA like a bigger team would

I’m upset even though I’m pro-tank because it feels like the Jazz are being singled out. It’s also an incredibly slippery slope. You can feel pain without there being evidence on an MRI. So what if nothing shows up on the MRI, yet Lauri is still feeling pain when he moves? Does the NBA fine the Jazz if they don’t play him? And so what if they play him and he gets injured further? That would be terrible. Feels like the NBPA needs to be involved with this. It’s completely ridiculous.

Change the rules in the offseason, and notify teams that those rules will now be enforced, instead of largely ignored. Doing it in the middle of the season, and not enforcing it equally (what the hell is up with Trae Young playing for Atlanta before being traded, and not having played a single game for Washington?
