I do think Reed should play but I also think a lot of y’all are being too favorable to Reed.
He’s an absolute dogshit defensive player that is also undersized and if he’s not on with his shooting (he’s still not a very consistent player) he’s probably the singular worst rotation guy that is out there because of how much he hurts the defense and how little he contributes offensively when he’s not shooting well.
I disagree that he doesn’t contribute offensively when he doesn’t shoot well. He’s one of the few players on our team that has a lot of gravity. No one else except for Durant gets as much attention off the ball on the perimeter. It makes the lives of all our non-shooters who live in the paint (Sengun, Amen) easier.
Sure, Jabari has an average shot, Tari is a good shooter this season, but defenses seem to be much happier letting them shoot than Reed. Even when he’s bricking, defenders stick to him.
He’s not even close to the “dogshit” he’s made out to be by casuals. His drating is roughly average with the team, meaning he’s not so bad that you can’t build a functional defense around him.

Reeds defense is definitely an issue, but there are times when Ime rolls out these defense first lineups and the defense isn’t good enough to justify making our offense take such a hit when Reed isn’t on the floor. Just having him out there completely changes the spacing of the rockets offense
Your team has a better offense when Reed sits, your 3P% improves but you gain size without him and get more offensive boards and defensively you’re better without him

I loved the combination with Sengun today. Usually Reed-Sengun is underwhelming, but they seemed to be locked in as a duo. If they can replicate this a lot more, Reed’s gonna have a lot of games like this, and Sengun is going to have a lot of high assist nights.

The fact people wanted the rockets to sign trash guards like Lonzo or CP3 for example over just letting this dude play is laughable. Sure his defence sucks but when he’s on the floor offensively everything opens up because you have to guard him. The rockets defence can make up for his shortcomings there but they can’t make up for the lack of offence without him
