[Charania] Jayson Tatum has been a full go in 5-on-5 scrimmages with the Celtics
we just need you to stand in the corner and rebound buddy, this is Payton Pritchard’s team now
Jayson Tatum, get ready to speak Al Horford buddy
The Al Horford shade haha. the Warriors have been juicing Al for the remainder of his lifeblood this season, 26mpg over the past 5 games. He started last game too, hitting 6 out 7 from three. When the fuck is father time coming for the 39 yr?
Al easily has a portrait of himself in his attic, and all his aging goes there
Al “Dorian Gray” Horford
Thats some horcrux bs
Him and LeBron have a blood boy
Why Bronnys heart failed he was drained of too much blood and why he’s on the Lakers. Bron serves Al down the street.
Al Horford is just a baller man. I remember the Celtics and Warriors finals and thinking “if the C’s win this, Al has to easily be the FMVP”🤣
When he was on the C’s I often referred to him as “The Ageless Wonder”
Legitimately hasn’t aged in over a decade
If he keeps aging like this he’ll be younger than Jayson Tatum, who is still a child.
Yeah, thatd be crazy. 19 vs 39 looking the damn same.
old Al takes a while to warm up, feel like for the last few seasons he started slow then ramped up second half
Al IS Father Time
I’ve been expecting the end for 5 years now. I’m wrong every year.
Take care of your body it helps.
Yeah, man! I agree. Trade him to the Warriors for Draymond and a 2nd rnd pick, and we’re all set.
I just need some Tatum to Neemy lobs. There’s a lot of meat on the bone when it comes to utilizing Queta’s rim running.
Queta will be like how Lively was to Luka in that final run.
Yeah Likely is a good comp, atleast when Lively had Luka.
My high-end comp for Queta has always been Prime Clint Capela, but with that said I don’t think he will ever have a James Harden or Trae Young level lob thrower to reach those offensive heights.
But nonetheless Queta’s been really good this year.
I love pritchard and white but theyre so bad at lobbing it to him in any situation besides the occaisonal wide open dunkers spot lol
Always has been
Jayson Tatum most expensive corner boy lol
Imagine the salt in this sub if the Finals end up being Thunder vs Celtics.
Everyone should just be flaired “has been drinking”
Cs and thunder flairs will change to “will be dead at the end of the finals”
I actually think most neutral fans would rally behind Boston for that one - it’s just way too good of a sports story, and everybody loves a good sports story.
And who has a better story than Tatum the Broken?
Made me smile and then made me sad
Dejounte looked good last night for us in his first game back, hoping to see the same for Tatum🤙🏽
That’s great to hear. How long was murray out for? 12 months?
I think 13 total, he tore it in January last year. I know he was in contact with Haliburton and Tatum throughout their rehabs, so you know they’re all rooting for each other to come back.
I read that story too and seems they weren’t in contact with Dame for some reason? Maybe I misread
Insane that the thunder have become so hated that this place would actually root for the Celtics in a playoff series. I don’t think that’s happened once in the 20 years r/nba has existed
2011 and 2012 vs Heat
Nobody likes a back to back champion in general, but you don’t build many fans playing “well they can’t call every foul” defense.
Lol
Oh don’t worry, Knicks fans still got you
Brown wins MVP, Tatum wins finals MVP on short notice. They both beat the wrap that other people have on them.
Apparently I don’t love a good sports story.
*NY and LA fans excluded from the aforementioned fantasy.
Absolutely I would be and I can’t believe that lol I was JUST hating the Celtics and their “dominance” lol
We’re not even rivals because y’all have been irrelevant since The Shot.
Hey now, we can respect their team but still hate if they win. Fuck the Celtics.
Jesus christ.
PP finals MVP and here for it
Knicks’ nightmare
It’d be a great series at least. Give me the two teams we’re sick of watching go to 7 in a close finals vs the darling young team who lose in 4 or 5
Stop it
The finals we should’ve gotten last year. Credit to the pacers and I hate Boston but I would’ve loved to see the two best teams top to bottom go at it.
Dude…The Pacers had a lead at half in game 7 without Hali. Prob win with him. Now I’ll go wash my Knicks fan skin off with a brillo….
Boston was getting slapped around fair and square by New York before Tatum went down. Last year wasn’t there year.
Injuries are a part of the game, especially playoffs but it’s not like they were slapping around a healthy Celtics team. Nobody talks about how the Celtics went into that series with Tatum and Brown already injured and Porzingis a total shell of himself with his illness. Dude played too much in that series imo. Knicks took advantage but we saw what a healthy Celtics team looked like against the Knicks and it definitely wasn’t what we watched in the playoffs last year.
Porzingis playing that much killed the team. Literally should not have played at all.
It was 4 on 5 every time he was on the court
Slapped around is ridiculous man, just a couple normal below average shooting nights and Knicks are getting blown out the first couple games.
That and 4 of the 5 starters were dealing with nagging injuries
Nobody talks about that which is ridiculous to me. Injuries come with the game but it still hurts teams when it matters.
All the margins in the playoffs are thin, but the rope was slipping and NY had played the better series up until that point
I think you might be responding to the wrong comment?
We could have easily won games 1 and 2 if we just stopped shooting 3s but we needed to be able to step up and hit them if we were to have a chance of beating the thunder. We werent shooting like we were the year before.
I don’t believe it’s really a matter of “stepping up and hitting them”. I think it’s a matter of variance and we had what was probably a 1 out of 10 poor outcome vs the Knicks, doesn’t say anything about what a series with the Thunder would have been like.
boston forgot to play basketball that series
The Celtics showed no indication they were the best team in the East last year. They lost the first two games at home to the Knicks and were about to be down 3-1 before Tatum got injured.
Before injuries and sicknesses they were
The Celtics were hobbled as fuck. Porzingis came down with POTS but nobody knew what his issue was so they kept playing him despite him actively ruining the team. Jrue had a hamstring issue. Brown was playing through a partially torn Meniscus in his knee that he had off-season surgery on.
The Knicks won that series fair and square, but that Boston team was rolling and sleep walking to 61 wins. Unfortunately all the injuries kind of added up and they weren’t what they had been.
So yeah if the Celtics were healthy I think it would have been a great series vs the Thunder. But with every player ailing, they didn’t have the gas tank to make it.
The Celtics showed no indication they were the best team in the East last year.
Wild take.
I mean, they weren’t even the first seed in the East. There’s no real reason to claim they were objectively the best team except for the fact that they were the defending champs, which as has been shown in this decade isn’t too reliable of a factor anymore.
They were 61 win defending champs who led the East in net rating. That’s showing indication they were the best team in the East. Showing indication and actually delivering on that promise are different things.
The Cavs won 64 games and had a net rating of 9.2 which was 0.2 less than the Celtics yet they got dismantled by the Pacers. If we are going by regular season sure but it was pretty clear in the postseason the Pacers were the best team in the east. I could have phrased it better since the Celtics were clearly a prime contender but I think it’s ridiculous to say the Celtics should have been in the finals if it wasn’t for the Tatum injury which was the original comment.
to say the Celtics should have been in the finals if it wasn’t for the Tatum injury which was the original comment.
No it wasn’t.
Idk what do you think this guy was implying when he said the two best teams?
We were down seven with a few minutes to go when Tatum got injured. Series could’ve easily been 2-2 if he didn’t go down and who knows what could’ve happened after that.
Because they shot like historical poop from deep in those first two games, which allowed the Knicks to squeak out those wins. Even average shooting and Boston rolls both by 20. And much of it wasn’t even defense - Celtics were just bricking wide open shots.
On the season, Celtics had a 9.4 NET rating and the Knicks a 4.1 last year. You could argue the Cavs were better on the season, but they were in freefall headed into the playoffs. Celtics were the heavy betting favorites to come out of the East last year.
I agree but I’m more of the opinion they blew it. With bad decision making vs the Knicks and constantly bombing threes. Again taking nothing away from their competition, I just felt Boston played stupidly and not to their level but it is what it is
They went into chucking mode which lost them games but with KP himself they don’t play like that. Ironically he wasn’t injured this time, just sick as a dog.
I was rooting for the Knicks, but they were definitely massive underdogs against the Celtics. The Celtics literally went 4-0 against them in the regular season. The Knicks beating the Celtics was probably the biggest upset since the 2016 Finals or Mavs vs Lakers in 2011.
Would’ve loved that too, but Pacers were easily the best team, and they definitely beat us in a hypothetical ECF matchup.
You do know the Pacers took them to Game 7? The idiocy.
the Pacers took OKC to 7 and likely could’ve won if Tyrese doesn’t get hurt? how was Boston better
After the terrible season we’ve been having, finally some good news!
Lol, with no due respect, fuck y’all.
Nah, jokes aside, very impressed by your season. For selfish reasons, I hope Tatum decides he needs more time.
With no due respect 😭😭😂😂
Heh, what, you want me to lie? You’ve earned better than that.
It was a top tier comment
How did y’all just lose?
We were down 4 starters and got a ridiculous nullification of a game tying field goal in the last second of the game.
It’s not really worth agonizing over.
Just saw the score. Fair enough.
As a knicks fan, if Tatum comes back and C’s win a ring this year - it would be one of the greatest rings in NBA history
And New York City will completely implode and ship Kat to China
Maybe but KAT always gets the blame. Other players on the team havent been playing well either.
Our $200million OG Anunoby has forgotten how to shoot but nobody is criticizing him
Tosan Evbuomwan poisoned our water supply, burned our crops, and delivered a plague unto our houses
Not his fault you decided to pay a very good but very limited player that much
OG has been way more reliable on the floor than Kat he is just coming from injury. OG does his job 10X better than KAT does his. If KAT makes 6 3s a game and we still lose i won’t complain that much. But the problem he is the only servicable offensive player that is 7 ft and we need him to guard the opponent’s big man. But the guy hands out fouls like a Jehovah Witness handing out flyers… that is the most frustrating part. All that would stop if he actually works out.
For what it is worth I think KAT played pretty well last night and was our best player on the floor. I don’t think he got his first foul till the third?
I agree he fouls way too much. I also think Mike Brown is not putting him in the right positions to succeed and sometimes Brunson ices him out.
KAT is just not aggressive as he should be as well. The last couple of games he’s been playing better. I think Knicks can only go as far as KAT 1B’s brunson
Yeah Brunson and OG been quietly stinking it up the past few games but that wom’t last. KAT’s height and skill is unfortunately his downfall 7’1 1st round pick best shooting big cannot play as good as Luke Kornett even if the numbers are respectable.
Definitely one of the more impressive sports stories in history.
Team loses superstar with the worst possible injury for a player, presumably for entire season. Then team guts roster to shed salary figuring they won’t contend. Most of sports world expects the team to tank for a draft pick, and even the most optimistic expect .500 ball.
And then literally everything goes right. #2 guy steps up as a bonafide #1 and fringe MVP candidate. Entire depth chart grows by leaps and bounds. Coach ascends to one of best in the league. Superstar returns for a playoff run. Team wins title.
This whole thing would be unbelievable if it were scripted by Hollywood.
I certainly agree with the overall sentiment but Mazzulla’s been this good since his second year, and the depth chart stepping up is less surprising than neutral fans would think.
He doesn’t get so much credit for the championship year because that roster was stacked AF. But there’s specific details that have Joe’s fingerprints all over them. The different defensive schemes tailor-made for the matchups in the playoffs, and specifically how well-drilled the schemes were. All the talent in the world doesn’t operate as a single unit instead of 5 great players without being well coached.
And he got criticism for using his challenges in blowouts, with the deep bench subbed in. But when asked about it he said it’s his job to coach all 15 men to the same standard and it would be disrespectful to the effort guys like Queta and Walsh give, if he didn’t give them back the same effort and respect. Both of them have become key contributors this year, along with some of the new arrivals who weren’t here for the chip.
if i weren’t a Celtics fan I think I’d be livid
healthy celtics vs okc finals series will be cinema. At least as long as the refs can contain their whistle
Respect to you guys man, lost key pieces from the championship team, injured superstar, everyone and their mothers expected the Celtics to dip this season but you beat the expectations and still is a top seed to this date. JB having his best season while putting skid marks on every motherfucker in the league
Would you want to disappoint Joe Mazzulla?
I thought not. Don’t make him use the coin.
I hate you so much man
The Anomaly
If he comes back this season and is like how he was last season, then I’ll stop calling that nickname cringe because it will be well deserved
Even if he’s 75% of that honestly, it’d be deserved. The rate he’s recovering at has been crazy.
Immediate surgery after these types of tears gonna become the norm because of Tatum
And Tyrese 🤞🏼
Man Im hoping he’s still moving all around the floor the way he does cause watching his run last year was some of the most fun I had watching this sport.
Hope he kills it next season. Such a fun player to watch.
Pls don’t, still cringe even though i love tatum.
I don’t care for Boston but nothing would be funnier if they still went to the Finals in a down year. You can’t escape them. They’ll still do it while other teams will have existential issues not making the Finals in an open year.
Shit is absurd. Super Bowl in a rebuild year. Celtics dump all their cap to get under apron and now have a real shot at Jt coming back for a finals run. When do the Boston files come out exposing them for sacrificing babies or some shit for this???
We sacrificed Mookie for this 😔
This. We sacrificed Nomar to break the curse, then sacrificed Mookie for the collective bullshittery of Boston sports.
I don’t know whether to upvote this because it is true or downvote because the pain it brings
Oh yeah, Boston sports fans sure have experienced a lot of pain in that area of their life for the last 25 years 🙄
Listen it’s been a hard ~7 years. All we got to celebrate was a Celtics championship, and only 1! Can you imagine? /s
I get how it looks but we are allowed to be sad about how things went down with Mookie lol
We sacrificed the possibility of the Sox getting far at all in the playoffs and th bruins being consistent for the pats to be back and the Cs to have a super computer at GM
Even the Bruins have won a title in the last two decades.
Very cool!
Jokes aside, the Red Sox during the curse years had SO much go wrong for them (and of course the Yankees seemingly winning the world series every other year for fifty years during the same time period) that even the Russell Celtics probably didn’t flip the city’s sports karma balance to even.
I’d say the Brady pats did that though, so the New England bill for anything beyond that will eventually come due.
As for the sacrificing, our ritual sacrifices use the letter ‘R’ as the sacrifice and a Dunkin’ as the location naturally but they’d kill me if I told you any more than that.
I thought it was coming due for years after the zappe / mac jones years but that worked it self out too lmaoo
when do the Boston files come out
did you forget who owns the pats?
I know krafts a big trumper but don’t know what he was in the files for. Incriminating?
i mean he’s already (allegedly) a known sex trafficker so even if he’s only in the files in passing, i think its fairer than most to assume guilt of some kind
He’s pro-Israel. That’s enough to warrant a Lil B curse.
I wouldn’t get my hopes up on tatum. I remember with KD first year in BKLYN there was a lot of the same type of talk. He was doing 5 on 5s in practice. IT’s more likely because Boston may think they have a real shot with him but the practice situation doesn’t mean much imo.
The Nets had a losing record and Kyrie was already out for the year by the time it was this late in the season when KD was coming back.
Even I can’t deny Im impressed. They hit the jackpot with the Nets trade and haven’t faltered since. Top to bottom they’re nailing it fuck them for that. Teams have achieved less with more.
The Celtics just have that annoying habit of always being relevant no matter what. It’s honestly impressive how they keep finding ways to stay in the mix.
Scrimmage me timbers
“OoooooOooooOo we’re scrimmaging” Mrs. Garrison’s voice
Meeseeks voice
That reminded me of the Jimmy Butler Timberwolves scrimmage.
If JT is the seventh best player on this team after White,PP,Brown,Walsh, Scheierman, and Queta, how far can this team go????
He’ll be third best at worst
I think at, at worst… like he is so rusty and the athletism has taken a step back, that he’d be at worst 5th.
Like Browns an All-NBA guy, White is an advanced stat Darling, Pritchard is an absolute bucket, and Queta is quietly one of the more impactful centers in the league. But after that even a poor athlete Tatum is too smart and skilled of a basketball player to be worse than everyone else, I’d imagine.
we are celebrating Baylor getting rebounds, imagine JT at his worst version doing that daily, while also with better defense and playmaking. Oh boy
This. Saying Walsh and Scheierman ahead of him was some “gassing are bois up” but to be honest the amount of time he’s missed, the system their currently playing and how well Joe has coached up the guys it isn’t an extreme statement.
Ain’t no way
If over the course of say 20 + plus games he is not clearly tied for third best or better then he shouldn’t be playing. I love White and PP but Tatum at 60% still clears in pure talent.
I’m close
There’s only 20+ games left this year, hope he doesn’t rush it
There’s only 20+ games left this year
Not for the 2-seed Celtics
That’s true lol
He wouldn’t be stepping on the court to play if he didn’t believe in his ability to play full stop. Then it would come down to the doctors as well as the team. Brad has been transparent about how they planned on handling it from the get go.
JT has pushed himself to come back this quickly and it appears has checked off all the boxes. The timetable on the quick surgery, the procedure and the physician might be part of the quick turnaround. I hope he feels good and is happy to finally be back on the court after an unfortunate injury.
Edit: typos
He’s pretty obviously not rushing it. The dude has been far ahead of typical rehab schedule from day 1, and was out on a court dunking in October. It’s not like he just shed the boot.
It’s just been a slow steady ramp up that they are all clearly taking seriously.
Yeah theres not much reason to. We won’t catch Detroit and we wont catch okc or the spurs probably. Playing bad seed vs knicks or cavs isnt that big of a deal. Theres no real rush to get him back other than to gel
I wonder if this would be similar to Chris Webber’s return in 2004. The Kings had everything sorted out without Webber, they had Brad Miller instead and were steamrolling. Then Webber returned and they lost their touch, failing to insert him into the playbook. Eventually lost against Timberwolves at game 7 of ECSF and next year they traded Webber and Doug Christie.
Tatum returning might disrupt some stuff. I think Mazzulla is facing a huge challenge here. If the Celtics keep it going and make the finals, I think we might be looking at one of the greatest coaches in NBA history.
edit: I don’t mean Tatum is a selfish guy. team chemistry also matters. Tatum will get minutes and some guys will lose minutes. Since he is one of your top 2 talents, you need to have plays for him too. It’s not a 2K substitution, where you replace 73 ovr for 88 ovr and be done with it.
Tatum is the most versatile player in the league, that’s just a dumb comment to make. You can put him on any team and he is malleable.
It would disrupt not because Tatum is bad. It’s more of a chemistry on the court issue. The reason they are trying to push back now could be that if he comes back, it’s not going to show effect immediately.
Celtics might spend remainder of the regular season trying to figure it out with Tatum so they might lose some games. But what matters is the playoffs
I don’t think Tatum has a ball hogging ego. He filled in and played the bench role great on the Olympic team without a peep.
I wasn’t thinking of an ego issue at all. He’s not the player that would complain about it. But since he is one of the 2 best players of the team, it’s more of an overall team chemistry issue. There are aspiring players on this team that would like to get their bag.
It’s not like you sub a 73 overall for 88 overall. How will 73 overall react? Some guys will have less minutes.
I’m sure Mazulla will do whatever it takes to win a championship haha. You guys are the only one I’m concerned about in the East.
hm not that olympic squad tho
Number 1 Tatum dickrider lol
Raptors are dogshit buddy lol, y’all are like 3-19 against us fuckin bum.
Mad relevant to your dickriding lol. Cry more
Why would I cry lol. We are the 2nd seed and getting an all nba player in return. You have Scottie Barnes as your franchise player, pretty pathetic.
You’re crying that someone suggested Tatum’s return might not be flawless. Are you a simpleton or is your face just buried that deep in Tatum‘s pillow?
Bro said crying when I gave an explanation to why he would fit perfectly. Acting like they haven’t played with each other 7-8 yrs. But whatever not gonna waste my time on casuals like u.
Not sure why you were downvoted. It’s very possible there will be some hiccups on offense. Tatum plays slow (not a bad thing) and deliberate. This season we have much more movement within the offense (reminds me of last years Pacers). Defensively I think he’ll fit in relatively quickly.
Ultimately, I don’t think it’ll be an issue by the time the playoffs start.
After watching him in the finals two years ago, I don’t think they’ll be any problems reacclimatizing him. The only thing would be Tatum trying to be “the guy” again, which I think he’s smart enough to put aside for now.
Bottom line, for me, is that I find it unlikely we have a lower ceiling with Tatum. We’re having a really impressive regular season, but half these guys have never played playoff minutes, and everyone is in a bigger role than they have in the past. We have decent odds at getting through the East because there’s no real dominant team, but I think we’re behind the top of the West. We’re down in the season series with both the Knicks and the Pistons, so it’s hardly like we’re crushing the top tier of the East anyways.
He might mess with the floor a little bit, but who cares about the floor? I want the ceiling.
It’s a real possibility but at the same time, Celtics players are probably some of the best disciplined and fire tested players in the league. This team is basically swapping out starters and minutes on a nightly basis and making it work with a next man up mentality. It’s definitely a difficult puzzle to solve but the Celtics doctrine is arguably the best for this kind of situation.
I think Joe will keep the starters the same and add Tatum to the bench rotation. Especially since he needs game conditioning. PP will welcome Tatum to the bench squad. Opposing teams are going to hate our bench rotation even more.
All is well in the Garden.
But I thought we were supposed to shut guys down for the rest of the season if they had a boo-boo
Tatum could be trapped on a sinking submarine off the coast of Alaska on gameday and he’ll still be on time for warmups as long as he’s healthy. He has that KD level love for hoops lol
He’s 100% coming back for that rescheduled March 1st game
cant wait for JT to play behind Baylor Scheierman
Hey Jayson, Payton Pritchard is here. We’re all good.
GOAT
What does this mean for Giannis? Cmon Shams, you can do better.
I just don’t trust a guy coming back from Achilles that quick. I’d be wary of re-injury or nowhere close to the same athleticism the first season back.
I SAID IT ON THE CELTICS SUB AND I’LL SAY IT HERE!
MARCH 1ST, MARK IT DOWN AS THE RETURN OF THE DUECE.
I’ll subscribe to that. I also subscribe to him playing every game to the end of the season, going absolutely nonsense bonkers every game.
Tatum “I’ve gotta make up for lost time”
This seems like a crazy thing to do. Game speed is gonna be way different than practice. He should just sit this season. Long term injury risk just ain’t worth it.
Don’t say this out loud. Joe will stare laser beams into you!
What’s wrong with Joe muzzla
Oh fuck
He’s back and got them hair braided like AI
With how talented players nowadays on all teams
Depth + coaching matters by A LOT
Shoutout boston, teams.will try to replicate it
Jayson Tatum is a has been?
does make me kinda wonder could Haliburton play this year IF the pacers were not in absolute tank mode?
at this point it obviously makes no sense for them. but i get what they are doing. using it as an opportunity year to go and get a high pick and hopefully get a piece. somehow the celtics went in the opposite direction and ended up contending
https://makeagif.com/gif/nathan-for-you-again-RhRfJv
How’s the Boston media? DRose went through a similar thing when he was cleared and he wanted to sit out - media and fans flamed him so bad.
A lot of them want him to sit but say if he is ready he should play
I’m actually surprised
Finally some good news after dealing with a gap season.
Slow your roll playboy
Nobody sees this as a risk what’s the point of coming back this soon to ramp up to half a season into breakneck speed playoffs that’s ridiculous

Signed, scared Knicks fan
Broken grammar but aight
