Yea he was efficient first several seasons and still didn’t see consistent time. He is athletic and has the talent, but like many of the young players got regular DNP stints. Not just him. Moses, TJD, Post, and others all got that. They still were young, needed to adapt to the NBA level.

But most young players need coaching and experience to grow, but they never prioritized that and were trying to win-now every season at the expense of player development. Moses, TJD, and Post sure did everything asked of them and still got yanked around.

I get the priorities, but let’s not act like it was all on them and their performance. There were great games where young players had the hot hand and were still inexplicably benched for vets, and even Kerr admitted at the time not the right move. It happens. He’s a vet’s coach.

Plus JK was the odd man out with Jimmy and Dray at the same position, so was DNP’d more, regardless of how well he played in stints.

Ironically with Jimmy out for a year, Kuminga is kind of exactly what they need right now as a potential 2nd option shot creator. But that relationship was irreparable at that point.

This game didn’t prove Kerr wrong. Kuminga’s whole schtick was wanting to iso more and shoot some Kobe fades and mostly having Giannis shot selection but without Giannis body. While Kerr envisioned more of a Marion/Iguodala/Gordon type of role.

All of these shots except the last 3 were good shots within the flow of the offense that Kerr had begged him to take for 4 years. Only the last 3 shots were him creating for himself and surprise, 2 were horrible bricks. Seriously, watch that 2nd-to-last shot and imagine him doing that multiple times while Stephen Curry is wide open. wait you don’t need to imagine

Just like how Klay was very mature and professional when Kidd benched him. But bro, that is NOT how you behaved when Kerr did the same. Why??

The wizards made it incredibly clear in the first half of this game that they would not be putting in any effort. Atlanta had like 20 points by halftime JUST from throwing it over the top for an open layup because the wiz had no interest in running back on D. Safe to say Atlanta also wasn’t afraid of their half assed close outs.

Great first game for him but man that game had nothing to do with skill and everything to do with effort.

Kuminga looked like this to start the season. Then he reverted back to the no handle, no rebounding, poor shooter that he is. He can jump out of the gym, but that’s about it when it comes to consistency. He’s a good dude and good luck to him though.
