He’s gonna make a lot of money and it’s 100% going to be worth it
Only bad thing about being a thunder fan is wanting to keep everyone and their shoes.
Steak too juicy. Biscuit too buttery. Ass too fat.
Ass too fat? How dare you insult the sexual orca like that >:(
What does sexual orca mean? I see you in all kinds of threads saying this shit
Alex Caruso is an anagram of Sexual Orca
if I could post my “don’t make me tap the sign” meme saying this I would
Ah okay lol nice
I thought you’re referring to Shylily lol. Considering your pfp.
I am, have you clicked on my profile XD
My flair on the team sub is literally “Alex Caruso is secretly Shylily”
I wish I never learned this. I’m sharing this fact with all the Oklahomies
Sucks having home grown talent you can’t keep
I don’t think the salary cap should apply to drafted players or guys acquired on rookie contracts.
The extra amount you can pay for supermax should not count towards the cap at the very least. Seems super obvious and I have no idea why it’s not a thing. So often small market teams are forced to handicap themselves by this shitty rule.
I still think Sam is confident that the rest of the league is going to vote to walk back apron penalties before our maxes come due
With how much it would hamper smaller markets like us and the Spurs, I hope the small to mid sized markers band together to walk it back.
I agree. Or atleast up to a certain extent. Thunder should definitely be able to retain atleast some of their homegrown talent if they could earn more elsewhere but want to stay.
They literally already have lol.
We haven’t had to pay Cason yet. Or Ajay. Or potentially Topic. We got Joe and Wiggs on absolute steals and iHart and Dort could be casualties.
We already have Ajay on a 3 year $8.7mil deal btw
That was before he started looking like a key piece.
Sure but he’s still in year 1 of his contract so we won’t have to worry about paying him just yet
I feel like you could develop something like a “loyalty discount”. Something like if a player is with the team for 4 years, every additional year that player’s cap hit is reduced by 5%, maybe with a hard limit of 20% or something, whatever numbers made sense. But just something that rewards a FO for getting guys who buy into the system and want to stay with the team long-term, they should be afforded an extra degree of flexibility to try to keep guys around rather than have to ship them out because of the cap.
What’s the max he can get this summer?
40 Million. If need be, I can get the trees.
Is that 20% of the cap or more? I think anything more than 20% would be a tough pill to swallow
No, Thunder FO will pay 10. And my new tree startup needs a new face of the company.
Next Love’s spokesman Cason Wallace
Up front or behind the back?
Massive bag incoming. Other teams know this is what he can be, I expect Thunder to keep him but it’s going to cost a ton.
The kid’s already playing like a vet, and he’s only getting started. That contract is gonna look like a bargain in a couple years.
They had Cason playing big minutes as a rookie in the playoffs, he stole Giddey’s job. Dude is legit.
The kid’s playing like a max contract guy already, and he’s still on his rookie deal. OKC’s future is scary.
Massive bright spot in amongst all the injuries we’ve been having. He’s been huge since SGA went out.
Him and Joe but half our fans hate and underrate Joe for some reason lol
The reason is pretty clear and it’s that he was basically unplayable in the playoffs
With that being said, still a great role player on an elite long term contract so it’s stupid to want to trade him
I’m optimistic that he’ll be able to retain a position in the playoff rotation this season. The improvements he’s made on defense are substantial insofar as he’s gone from a clear negative to a neutral. I also think that the consistency in his shot is pretty improved; he has gone cold in far fewer regular season games this year compared to in the past.
Joe has talked recently about how his game needed improvement because teams were essentially able to keep him from shooting before. He has been taking more 3s on the move, deeper 3s, and generally just more confident 3s, and that all goes a long way when it comes to keeping him on the floor on the playoffs. Him and Daigneault seem aware that his shooting presence is important but it needs to take another step this year if he wants to make an impact in the postseason.
Cason stole his job from day one. Joe can shoot better but his overall play is lacking. If his shot is falling and he is not a liability on defense you want him on the floor, he’s like Malik Beasley without the gambling charges.
His whole shot looks so much better this year, it’s faster and it feels like his body alignment is more consistent. Right now he’s shooting a touch over 42% and sitting at 16th in the league between Jamaal Murray and Malik Monk. And he’s also been better on defense, he always hustled his ass off but he’s it seems like his active hands are a lot more disruptive than previous years.
He’s leaps and bounds better on defense. He was just too soft and passive in previous years, he’s 26 now and sees he is losing his job to other guys. The fear he will be out of OKC and traded, that is driving him.
They think he’s useless if he’s not making shots.
What’s clear is he’s a fuckin baller when you run plays for him instead of just waiting for catch and shoots
we don’t get the 1-seed without him last year. I’d love to see him produce in the playoffs, but if he can help us have home-court in the postseason and not play a single minute if we don’t need him, I’ll take it x2
Because he didn’t play like this earlier in the season or last year in the playoffs. He’s playing great now and hopefully he can keep it up, but when he’s not hitting 3’s like this he is unplayable.
Joe comes off as quiet and soft that is why, he’s got a meek beta personality. Shaq even called him “ugly” during the finals last year clowning the way he looked, nobody laughed and it was awkward asf lol. Joe is tough to gauge because his play is very inconsistent, Ajay basically stole his & Wiggins job because Ajay is consistent on both ends on a night to night basis.
Obese ogre shaqs opinion on others means nothing and nobody laughed because they know his repugnant ass has no room to talk lol
And how does he have a meek beta personality? The whole team stays focused on the game and doesn’t act bombastic off court, Joes willing to die on the court every game for this team idk if you’re a fan who watches every game like me but he’s never backed down or been punked
Dudes the literal lightest weight player in the nba and is fucking balling this year if u don’t like him that’s whatever but calling him beta like he’s pussy or something is ridiculous
Cason Now>>>>>>Cason as a Rookie
He took a massive leap with SGA down. He ready to run this team. Dude is All NBA.
They will either pay him or get 2-3 1st in a trade. Buddy has been balling with the stars out and is a 2 way player.
He’s sticking around. SGA/dub/chet/wallace are the untouchables
Not if Hart gets paid. 2028-2029 is going to be rough.
Yeah ngl id rather keep IHart, I love cason but this offense and defense functions a lot better with IHart, and chet is still not ready to be a sole 5, especially if we havent seen what sorber can do yet
Dort and Wallace would both likely have to go sadly
Tbh Cason is crazy good but IHart is vital. I’d rather move Chet to keep those guys and hope Sorber can step it up
Hasn’t Dort had a bit of a tough year? Wallace would be a hard pill to swallow.
[deleted]
It’s insane to leave out iHarts passing and play making. The offense looks like garbage a lot of the times when he isn’t out there setting guys up for easy baskets. iHart is unbelievably important to this team and his skill set is not easily replaceable.
Yup, offense gets super stale without him out there - especially when they start crowding SGA
It won’t be. We want to keep him but he’s not staying forever. It’s been known
The ownership group is prepared to go into the second apron and everyone wants to deny it. Mark my words, it will happen.
Obviously at some point we’ll have to move off some guys but that won’t be for a few years and we’ll have a plan by then. It’s never been better to be a Thunder fan.
Fuck it, go way over the second apron, who cares. The cba has an opt out after that season anyway.
3 max on the books, I don’t think you can afford him. He’ll play next year and then you guys won’t be able to match his offers in RFA
They never let anyone go to rfa and they can free up money by letting go of dort or Caruso if they want to dodge the second apron, there’s a world where they dip into the second for a season though tbh
The last person I remember going to RFA was Enes Kanter. Has there been anyone, worth matching, that has been an RFA since?
OKC re-signed Ajay and JWill in RFA.
Presti adopted a smart strategy of declining their team options to make them RFA’s, to maximise OKC’s level of control by ensuring that they don’t become UFA’s the following year.
He was then able to re-sign them for cheap since other teams didn’t want to bother committing cap space to them when OKC were likely to match any offers within a certain price range.
Well yeah, but that’s not the same as not signing an extension with your former first-round pick when you have exclusive negotiating rights and just letting a guy get to RFA. That’s the thing Presti basically never does. He either extends them the summer after their third season (JDub, Chet, etc.) or trades them before/during their fourth season (Giddey, Dieng, Mann, Bazley, etc.).
I will be very surprised if they don’t sign Wallace to an extension this summer. They might have to trade some combination of Dort, Caruso, and Wiggins to stomach it, but Wallace is pretty much a perfect encapsulation of a “Thunder guy.”
Presti:
Hey look, we can pay you and then trade you before the bump hits our books. Or if you help us by taking what we can offer, we’d love to keep you here and give you a starting role with Dort gone. It’s up to you, whatever you want to do we have your back and will try to make it happen.
Can you imagine what presti would get in return for him?
If Cason wins another ring and keeps playing this good he gonna get \(30M+ a year for sure maybe close to \)40M.
He will have to have a monster rest of the season to get a contract THAT big. He’s been really good these last few weeks, but even during this stretch, his scoring has been all over the place. His points in each of his last 10 games: 27, 5, 13, 23, 12, 4, 3, 8, 20, 27.
So even during the stretch where he’s looked his best on offense, he’s still been wildly inconsistent. And for the season, he’s averaging 8.6 ppg on the worst shooting splits of his career. If his on-ball creation growth is real, he’s going to get paid. But nearly $40 million a year is unlikely, in my opinion.
Maybe some endorsement deals can be arranged. All Cason has to do is plant the fucking trees.
You forgot ihart
Hart will be gone sadly
Not if we drop Dort
I always felt like Wallace was meant to replace Dort in the future. Dude might be playing himself off a championship team though, he’s that good and will command more money after these performances without SGA. He’s basically a All NBA defender(leads the leagues in steals), can run the point and drop 30 on a team.
I would throw ajay in there as well
Add Hart to that list
They’ll absolutely pay him. I imagine Dort is going to be gone soon and Caruso is getting older.
Yeah, Cason will get a nice fat contract but it won’t be max level money. Dort or AC will be the casualties from paying Cason but with what he’s doing at 22yo you absolutely choose Caso over either of those guys.
It’s also a couple of seasons before Caso’s new contract would even hit the books. Dort might leave for a payday on his own and AC will be getting on in age at that point.
People need to chill and let Presti cook, he knows better than r/nba does
They’re never letting AC go.
Dort will be traded, probably for picks alone. Probably Lakers, since they’ll have the cap space with LeBron gone.
Yeah, I did say Dort or Caruso is likely gone to keep Caso.
Does feel most likely that Dort will be the odd one out and we negotiate a more team friendly deal with AC for when Caso’s new contract kicks in.
Dort and Caruso are definitely gone after their contracts.
Caruso isn’t a free agent until 2029.
Yeah. He’s still gone after his contract lol. Doesn’t change what I said
Who is trading for Caruso? He has 3 years left after this year as an aging role player
0% we’d ever let him go.
Bane getting a bigger haul than him still melts my brain
Nah we actually overpaid. He was a 6⁄8 kinda guy playing 20 minutes a night.
Sorry, who are you talking about?
Hartenstein. Before we got him he averaged like 7⁄8 and played 20 minutes a night. We absolutely overpaid st the time for him. He’s worth it of course. But at the time we went all in for him
Oh that’s on the other comment hah
I mean I think Presti knew his value, but nobody else was competing for that salary for sure
Oh yeah we all knew it was worth it at the time. He’s exactly what we needed
Okc won the Derek lively trade
It was really easy to think otherwise when he was everywhere on defense in the 2024 playoffs.
Him and gafford need to figure out a way to the Lakers. That unit was too good
Let’s just get the whole 2024 Mavs gang back together with LeBron instead of kyrie💔
Lob City Lakers. Luka to Lively could be the meta for the next decade if they reunite.
This debate been over for a long time now
The offensive growth he’s shown since SGA has been out has been insane. I’ll be real, I didn’t think he had this in him. He’s creating off the dribble at a level he’s never done before. Just a hell of a run he’s on.
Not a run- a growth trajectory. We’re seeing him break out in real time.
Dude went from being a solid role player to looking like a legit secondary creator overnight. His handle looks so much tighter now.
Kentucky guards
Watching him attack the closeout and pull up with confidence now is night and day from earlier this season. That handle looks so much tighter.
This dude has always been solid but recently he’s playing all nba ball
He’s really taken that next step, looks like a legit star in the making right now.
SGA type beat lol
Kentucky guards developing into NBA staples, who would have imagined
Dude’s gonna get paid
Our 7th best player lol. If we get healthy and Joe/ Cason get more confidence this is just the most massive win ever. What a stretch.
I think he might already be our 5th best player tbh. His defense is elite and he’s showing what he can do offensively with not just shot making but shot creation too. He’s a year younger than Ajay.
Shai, Dub, Chet & iHart the clear top 4 and I think after that it’s either Ajay or Caso at 5th.
Ajay doesn’t bring Caso’s level of defense and AC & Dort don’t have anywhere near the offensive game Caso has been flashing in this stretch. Cason and Ajay both have really high ceilings, gonna be fun watching them develop.
Hmmm
I have
Shai JDub Chet IHart Caruso Ajay Cason Dort (I hate having him here, but I think it’s right.)
Please try to enjoy each Thunder player equally…
I have it: Cason>SGA>Chet>Dub>iHart>Ajay>Caruso=Dort
he’ll be the reason they let Dort walk
He’s better than Dort now and it’s fully understandable if Dort is the odd man out
saved this team from what would have been an embarrassing choke. daigneault really needs to stop trolling with his lineups
This is the time to mess about with lineups and try weird shit! Because you never know what situation will arise in the playoffs that may call for on of the weird lineups!
totally, ur right, i would be more okay with this if we had a bigger lead for 1st seed, rn we need any win we can get
The 2 series that went to 7 games were both at the cost of our home court advantage, due to last second buzzer beaters.
We’re fine regardless of our home court advantage, because we’ve already proven we can overcome that hurdle when push comes to shove.
Daigneault’s rotations had me pulling my hair out, glad Wallace bailed us out tonight.
Shaison Wallace
Man, must be nice to have a solid team all around.
It’s fun
Where’s Wallace, string?!?! Where’s Wallace!!???
Baller.
Skillet Caso heating up
The Thunder roster is as deep as Mewgenics
That’s right
Free Cason Wallace
Damn only one steal?
ATH-LETE
Thunder have the greatest help in the entire NBA, I’ll say it again. This doesn’t suprise me in the slightest
max him
Played football on defense btw
Soft
Shead and Scottie play just as physical as any of our guys, that’s why your defense is also elite
yeah shead is one of the kings of physical defense
cooked y’all btw
Brotha the raps played really physical as well
Lmao you know what you look like when you post this stuff, right?
dog it goes both ways, yall started it and we brought it lmao
Mentally ill levels of cope given the game I just watched
Hold this L you sorry maple slurper.
made us Canadians look like soft ass bitches ✌️
Fuck all of canada besides shai and dort
