Collin Gillespie has 172 made 3 pointers at 41.8% made
a lot of kon kneuppel talk and his 3 point accuracy, but collin has surprised me this year. really making a name for himself with the suns
Gillespie vs Pritchard title fight tonight
I think Peyton is a better shot creator, finisher, 1 on 1 player and overall scorer and that’s been his MO since he came into the league. Peyton is pretty strong too. Whereas Collin was more of the classic point guard and was not known as the scorer Peyton was. Which is also bc he went to Nova and had great teammates that can score and it just wasn’t his game.
But it’s amazing to see Collin work himself into a very good NBA 3pt shooter, he’s a much better shooter now than he was at Nova. Which is why he’s now getting playing time.
Love both players.
College? Make sure youre watching tonight
So your takeaway is Collin is a good shooter and that’s it?
I meant him becoming a better NBA shooter opened up his game, got him more playing time and keeps him in the game to allow him to showcase his other qualities.
Because he is not extremely athletic for NBA standards and doesn’t have length or size for NBA standards.
So the key for him to be where he is now is becoming a really good NBA level shooter.
Yes he can do other things, things he showed at Nova and what got him drafted but his improved shooting is what’s getting him the minutes and opportunities now and not just be an end of bench player.
He now stands to make significant more money than what he was projected before.
Before if he wanted to make more money and have more opportunity, it would have been oversees like Europe/Euroleague.
Now, he will get a really good NBA contract and does need to consider overseas options.
Collin is a significantly better defender though, right?
One of the reasons you’re hearing more about Knueppel is he’s a 20-year old rookie, not a nearly 27-year old 3rd year player like Gillespie. Gillespie is having a breakout year, for sure, but he’s not the complete player Knueppel already seems to be, despite his relative inexperience.
Damn did not know he was nearly 27 lol
Full college career including the COVID bonus year.
on the plus side, it means Collin will be much cheaper .
Kon is bigger as well.
Them ‘Nova guards sure know how to ball.
Truly incredible watching him develop. I used to get pissed off when Jay Wright gave him so many minutes when he was a freshman, but he turned into an absolute beast. Wouldn’t have thought he would be more successful than Ryan Arcidiacono in the NBA.
Loved ‘em both. Arch was the catalyst for the two championships and their run of great years, and Collin was the beneficiary.
He went from “I guess, if we need to fill the minutes” to “if he is not on the court I am deeply afraid for the team’s success” in college. Totally balled out his final year
I guess I wasn’t too upset considering how dominant that Nova team was with Brunson, Divincenzo, Bridges, Spellman, etc. In his freshman year, he only played 14 minutes per game. Also had a some decent minutes in the National championship with Brunson in foul trouble.
He was at 43.5% like 2 weeks ago but he’s had a rough two weeks which dropped him like 2%. Suns have been rotating injured guys like all year between Jalen green, Grayson Allen, booker, and now Dillion brooks which might honestly be a blessing in disguise with how much they have had to play Gillespie. I imagine if they were healthy all year he would be getting closer to 20 mins a game.
Fuck Mike Malone
Jay Huff, Gillespie, Hartenstein, few that come to my head, I’m sure you’d remember more. Spencer Jones would’ve been in Europe this summer if Malone didn’t get fired. Watson probably signs for less than MLE if Malone is a coach. At least he gave Christian Braun a chance.
Crazy how many hits Booth has in draft. Dude might be the best scout in the league, just don’t let him be in charge of anything else except for drafting.
Been a nice find for the Suns
I wonder what kind of contract he gets
13/5/4 on 66% is great, he’s small but actually a decent defender by most metrics, he can’t finish for shit though
That’s the vanvleet playbook.
he cant but if you tell him to shoot 10 3s a game and he makes roughly 4? thats a huge asset
Even on his current value 3 made threes is huge, that’s 13th best in the league in made threes per game
Fr thought he was more like tj where he could shoot but not any volume from 3 and instead this season he’s just been unreal
blows my mind hes only in his 3rd season but was with hart and bridges in the 2018 championship run with nova. that feels like ages ago
Can the suns even keep him ?
They can pay him up to around $12.5 million per year because of early Bird rights. Teams would need to use the full non-taxpayer midlevel to beat that (or have cap space).
Collin been good this year 💯
His father Dizzy is also fairly well known
Holy crap, that’s even better than me
