Very unlucky situation. Eason was probably just trying to be “physical” instead of dirty but players really should consider the ramifications when they’re taking those shots, especially at speed or if a guy is in the air.

If it’s an ACL + complications Vince Williams might miss the entirety of next season and part of the season after that. He was already a low level rotation guy, it might turn out to be the end of his NBA career. Over a complete nothing play in a blowout.

I’ll retract what I said in the other thread, I’ll never hold it against someone who tries to do the right thing and apologize.

Tari has definitely had some egregious defensive plays in terms of unnecessary roughness/contact that I’m not going to defend, but to me this wasn’t one of them. Trying to cut your man off on the fast break is as common as any other foul, unfortunately Vince came down on that right leg after the contact extremely awkwardly. Good on Tari for manning up to the mistake afterwards - wishing VWJ a speedy recovery. There aren’t many former VCU players in the league so it’s been a treat to see him succeed as much as he has in the league. (go rams go)

Tari likely has cost Vince a lot of money on an unnecessary play. Vince is on a league minimum with a team option for next year (likely now won’t be exercised). Vince and his girlfriend also just had his first child this summer so the motivation will be there. But terrible unnecessary injury. Still got love for you Vince-Grizz Nation.

Obviously a bad play is a bad play and a player should be more cognizant of something that could potentially harm another player….

However, half this sub was accusing Tari of war crimes in other posts and wanted him banished from human society for a foolish (but not entirely malicious) play.

He didn’t have bad intentions but the NBA better lay down some punishment to make an example of this incident. In fact there should be some automatic suspension and/or fine if your actions unnecessarily cause a significant injury to another player.

Not sure why people are so apologetic towards eason and the rockets. Forgive me if this is insensitive, but this is the logical conclusion of Ime’s coaching. This isn’t the first instance of rockets players being unnecessarily physical.

I can list multiple examples. Another example would be the way they guarded steph last season in the playoffs, where they repeatedly followed through on his hand after a shot, literally forcing a rule change. Another example is the way they guard giannis when they play the bucks. They make sure to foul him hard, far harder than necessary, and this was epitomised when amen thompson had his arms wrapped around giannis’s neck during one possession. Another example is sengun deliberately elbowing wemby on a box out in the dying seconds of a game that had already been decided. Multiple examples of completely unnecessary dirty plays, all involving the rockets.

Calling this incident ‘bad luck’ is akin to saying it’s ‘bad luck’ when you give your car keys to a teenager and they get involved in an accident. In both situations, the situation is enabled by an irresponsible party. The rockets want to play this way. My question is, will the league and the rest of the teams complain enough to force actual accountability?

Eason prolly felt good then had management forced him go in there and apologize due to the replays.

Easy for him to say that he had no malicious intent now that Vince’s future might be dim because of his showboating ego.
