The 2025-26 San Antonio Spurs Are the First Team Since the 1992-93 Knicks (33 Years) to Record 5 Wins Against the League’s Best Record in a Single Season
(via SportsCenter)
If only Michael Jordan didn’t exist
Sadly Hakeem also existed in that other year
And the Detroit Pistons in 90
You mean the Bulls, they were an equal match up without MJ. Similar record and 7 game series that hinged on a bad call the year MJ quit. Bulls were still a top 2 team in the East after losing the best player on the planet a month before the season.
they were an equal match up without MJ
Right, but they were 5-0 with MJ. Jordan was just unbeatable in Chicago.
Lol. Come on now.
look, i swear im not crazy, but the spurs are coming to fuck your mom and theres nothing you can do about it
this is not a dream
My mom would love that

I just found out that Pistons have the best record.
*had
We’ll see you Wednesday
Not if we see you first
Gonna be an epic hatewatch ngl rooting for a draw.
Fuck that. Root for the pistons. Trying to catch the thunder. The enemy of my enemy is my friend type shit.
Pistons spent all night trying to injure our players
Im good on that.
Yeah you are right. Also their fans are definitely worse.
Go Pistons, Fuck okc
Well at least buy me dinner first.
And now I found out Detroit no longer have the best record!
I was gonna say “well you can thank the Spurs tonight for that” but then quickly I remembered if not for them you guys would have 4 more in the win column and be that far ahead of SAS lol
Seems a little cherry picked, because I wonder how rare it is for a team to play the team with the top record at least 5 times in a season (for the Spurs currently 6, because of the 4-1 record against OKC which actually makes it slightly less impressive).
It’s probably not that rare the further you go back in league history, you would just need the team with the best record to be in your division. Think how many times Boston has had the best record, I’m sure Philly or New York would have gotten them a few times just off of volume of games. Teams used to play each other 10 times a year though in their division, so not as impressive.
93 Knicks were incredible
We really counting the Feb 4th huh
Technically counts. Which is the best kind of “counts.” (Yeah, it’s a stretch).
Wemby in 4.

You’re a nothing burger stat

Best record merchants
Spurs play the Pistons again on 3⁄5 and the Celtics on 3/10… I think those are the only possible remaining games where they could face the best record unless the Nuggets (3⁄12, 4⁄4, 4⁄12) just never lose again. But then it’s probably more likely that the Spurs have the best record given how they’re playing.
Now to take a big sip of coffee and look at how the Knicks did in the playoffs that year
Knicks had like an 80% win percentage at home and some insane home winning streak until Game 5 that year.
90 percent, they went 37-4 at home. Two of the 4 were OT losses.
20-0 to end the season
Game 1 and 2 against Indiana
Game 1, 2 and 5 against Charlotte
Game 1 and 2 against Chicago
And then Charles Smith.
The Spurs have OKC’a number right now, it’s pretty clear why will be the western conference champs
I’d like to think we had everybody’s number last year and nobody thought we’d make the finals
one of those games were against the oklahoma city blue

You can’t beat the team with the best record if you are the team with the best record.
Also playing the team with the best record five times at all let alone before January ends is an anomaly. Then for the best record team to switch, not be you and also you still have games vs the new team is also an anomaly.
Pretty hard to do lol surprised it was done at all before
Wasn’t OKC trotting out G league teams for two of these?
Just the last one.
You can tell the narrative shifts to the Thunder mowing through teams last year and not being ready and the Spurs this year who haven’t made the playoffs in a very long time all of a sudden are favorites cause they won a few regular season games?
