[Highlight] Dylan Harper says Cade is his favorite player and he’s been watching him since 8th grade
Harper is 19 so 8th grade was 6 years ago. So Cade would have been in college. Makes sense.
And Cade was the consensus number 1 recruit out of HS. Everyone watched him in college.
A lot of NBA fans don’t watch college ball
A lot of NBA fans don’t watch the NBA.
it’s a highlights league anyways, we got tiktok /s
Highlights? I just look at the box score and base all my analysis off of PTS/REB/AST.
REB and AST? You mean that advance stat nonsense? I go solely off PTS like a real basketball fan
i base my rankings based on how many mixtape worthy highlights are on 15 second clip
This man has TMac 4th all-time right behind Pistol Pete.
Jr smith and gerald green tied for first
I base mine on whether there’s any lowlights or not. And if it’s a player I don’t like putting up stats then they’re stat padding
Fucking stat nerd poindexter.
I just go off vibes
What a statistician. I just read all yall banters and base my assumptions from that.
Don’t forget FTs
Thanks Adam.
Well, if you were only casually following the headlines that season, you probably heard about teams tanking in hopes of “Fade for Cade” lol
The product for live viewing is so ass. I stopped watching it, only highlights, mostly of my euro bros.
Hey man, I resemble that remark
They wouldn’t really be fans in that case
first day on the sub?
fam people will straight up debate you on a player or team they’ve never watch and they got their whole opinion of off twitter lmao
My point was that if they aren’t watching any basketball, they aren’t a fan. They can still try to talk ball and stuff, I just don’t consider them to be a fan.
You’d be surprised how many are following the league because of sports betting, most of these mfs don’t even know what’s happening, they’re just looking at the box score and their bet props
Then they aren’t fans
Well they consider themselves fans, who are you to say someone is not 😭
They could call themself an NBA player if they want, it doesn’t mean they’re right. Imagine saying you’re a fan of a movie but you never watched the movie. It’s ridiculous.
Strawman lol
If anyone’s going to watch hot prospects in college, it’s AAU kids who want to be in that spot in a few years.
I bet it’s most of these kids dreams to hoop in college. They definitely tune in, have favorite programs, players, and a lot go to games, usually invited by the schools. Even if eventually they become so good that dream becomes more get through college and go to the league asap.
As someone who used to love following basketball recruiting (although basically given up on that hobby since NIL took over), even “best 8th grader in the nation” types are/were paying attention to college ball from really young ages. Especially so if they grow up in certain parts of the country.
Ironically this college vs NBA divide stuff seems to come more from the fans of basketball, rather than the people who play it.
🙋♂️
Shame cause Cade and Mobley were special that year carrying their teams.
that’s me I don’t watch college
I tune in for march madness like sweet 16 and on but I can’t say I’m a fan of NCAA hoops
thats me as well, and maybe only tuning in for the final four. I dont have the time and energy to keep up with college ball and dont really care to watch it. Keeping up with the NBA, which i do enjoy, takes up my alotted sports time.
I didnt😂
I hate to break it to you, but you may be slightly more of a casual when it comes to basketball than current NBA player Dylan Harper, brother of current NBA player Ron Harper Jr and son of former NBA player Ron Harper.
His dad is Ron Harper? I had no idea. TIL
NBA Champion offspring Dylan Harper
Doubt it 😭
dude that is so awesome
Something can make sense AND turn me into the Matt Damon Saving Private Ryan GIF
This is how I feel every single time I unironically call a football player (typically a CB or RB for now, but I’m getting dangerously close to WR and other positions as well now) that’s younger than me “old”. It seems like just yesterday that players were getting drafted that were younger than me, but uhh
Let’s just say it’s been a good couple years now since that’s happened.
“Here comes the oldest player in the league. He’s 32. A miracle.”
Announcers act like it’s a fucking blessing that any player over 30 can get out of bed without dying
So does reddit honestly. Everyone talks about how they start turning to dust like Thanos snapped on them right at 30.
I feel only a tiny bit worse at 35 than I did at 25. People just need to stay in shape…
Surely you understand the difference between normal life and the pinnacle of human athletics?
Hearing “vintage Harrison Barnes” every time I tune into a game has been great. He’s like a year or two older than me lol
Don’t worry, this was me asking if the Atlanta Thrashers and Ilya Kovalchuk were still doing fine in their conference
Everything is relative.
I was 20 when Cade was born.
He was also the leader of that 2020 montverde team
that Cade n’ em?
the fact that Cade played with Scottie Barnes in high school is insane
Seems like Harper has kinda patterned his game after Cade too. Similar playstyle, hopefully Harper can develop as well as Cade has
Cade is still so new in my mind
He’s in his 3rd year for me
Pistons being forgettable to generationally bad (shout-out to Golden parachute Hall of Fame member Monty Williams) his first couple of years is probably why me and a lot of others feel similarly
He missed a lot of games as well
like that little cousin that’s perpetually 12
More of this and less hater junk on this sub please.
Unfortunately we vote with our attention, not comments. Can’t escape human nature.
For real. Way better vibe than all the negativity
I mean it makes sense he looks up to him. Cade is the closest projection to Harper’s ceiling. Hopefully we get to see these two go at it tonight.
Yea Cade imo would be the best player to put next to Wemby due to his all around game so Harper becoming a Spur is nice
Now you see why us Pistons fans were praying for the draft lottery to bless us with Wemby 😭
Cade has always been really respected amongst AAU/hooping community. I got a lot of friends and family from TX/OK, and they talk about him like he’s The One.
It would be awesome if Harper was even 75% as talented as Cade.
He is
Harper has lots of potential
Cade is the closest projection to Harper’s ceiling.
Is he though? Harper’s shooting stats seem to be clearly a notch above what Cade’s were, on Cade’s first year.
That would be an extremely good ceiling. So hopefully its true
Aside from being big guards I don’t see the comparison
I see kinda Dylan as a 6’5 Tony Parker imo.
Although Dylan will be better tho
Let’s first see if Dylan can be 80% of the player Cade is
Yes of course, I said will not is lol
What I’m saying is that as good as Dylan will be, he won’t be as good as Cade
I disagree
I see Harper akin to a better De’Aaron Fox while Cade is a franchise altering player
A bigger and better Fox is a franchise altering player
Still not as good as Cade being in MVP discussions at only 23 years old
Harper won’t be in this position playing behind Fox and Castle, he’ll have a different trajectory with less minutes tbf
He’s 24 by the way.
Also we probably shouldn’t get too hasty about Cade’s ceiling. Let’s let him become efficient first lol
I enjoy how you started off with the downvotes and then it flipped with the other commenter when y’all continued. Don’t see that very often
Harper’s efficiency is impressive but let’s see how that goes when he becomes a starter and all the game planning is trying to stop him like teams do now with Cade
I mean that will never happen if he stays with the spurs and wemby stays healthy/castle continues to improve. Which in reality will be better for Harper’s career because teams can’t just focus on defending him
Im 33, this is like 19yo me telling LeBron Ive been watching him my whole life for perspective. Not that strange tbh
Im a bit older than you and I definitely remember watching LeBrons highschool games live on ESPN. Excuse me while I go get my metamucil
How them knees holding up friend?
I had surgery on both of them at 17. I am a skateboarder and basketball player. My knees fucking hate me. They make cool sounds though
Basketball and skateboarding. Your knees hate you because you’re abusive.
That person is to knees as Wade Boggs is to liver
I’m 46 and I feel like I’ve been watching LeBron my whole life.
Cade has been in the basketball spotlight since he was in high school so this makes sense. I bet it makes him feel hella old tho lmao
Today someone in my class told me they were born in 1996. This man drives a car and everything. It’s wild.
Huh? 1996 is 29-30 years old I’m confused lol
Hes like only 5 years older aint no way he started at 8th grade
Keep in mind that cades HS team (his graduating class specifically) was pretty famous and it makes more sense
Cade n em?
*scottie n em
3 lottery picks and 7 NBA players on a single team. A basketball academy, but still ridiculously stacked.
Ah I didn’t realize that so yeah makes even more sense then
I mean you’re around 13-14 when you’re in 8th grade so Cade was probably in his rookie season so it’s not that crazy
When Harper was in 8th grade Cade was the number 1 HS player in the country, so he probably saw a bunch of his highlights and stuff on social media
Make sense, kids loved that Montverde team
Harper’s 8th grade year would have been Cade’s senior year of high school. A little unusual, but still mostly checks out to me
That montverde team was all over YouTube, so definitely not unusual.
Cade’s high school team was insane, best of all time.
If you were aspiring to be that kind of guy, Cade and that Montverde team were the templates.
2020 monteverde foo
Fuck im old
Two future MVPs
Ronald Harper Sr seems to have done a great job raising young men.
I’m really hoping for Dylan to have that 90% Cade type of outcome.
Harper definitely was watching Daddy on draft night.
HOWIGETHIMOUT
I haven’t been able to decouple that video from Cade Cunningham in my brain.
Apparently life starts at 13
Makes perfect sense. Cade is Dylan’s ceiling and that’s what makes him so intriguing of a player.
Well now I hate Dylan Harper because he is young and full of life and I’m miserable and geriatric
Holy shit, I’m Unc.
I’m sorry, I can’t hear Cade talk without hearing “How do I get him out” 🤣🤣. He deserves his flowers tho. He’s an old school wing who can play Point. Basically the Grant Hill people were waiting for.
I was hoping this was the other Dylan Harper.
unfortunately my first thought as well
Makes sense since from I have read in the past, Montverde was the most popular high school team in the country and would always come up against the Ball brother’s chino Hill school in terms of popularity. Obviously Montverde the leviathan back then
Damn I’m old 💀
The generational shift is wild. A second overall pick saying his favorite player has been Cade since 8th grade really puts into perspective how young this league is getting. Harper even has the same build and playstyle — the comparison basically writes itself.
As a Rutgers fan, Cade has always been my number one player comp for Harper. I had no idea that Dylan was such a fan, but this completely checks out.
The timeline adds up, plus Dylan also wears #2.
We need to stop asking rookies who they grew up watching. All it does is hurt my feelings
Cade just blocked Harper
cries in short shorts from the 70’s
Did he watch him at Montverde or something?
yes it’s considered one of the best high school teams ever
Everyone did. Their highlights were all over YouTube at the time
Future Wizard.
U must be talkin bout Cade bc we are never letting harper go
Pistons are never letting Cade go either
But never say never, plenty of superstars and legends left their initial teams, some in bad circumstances
Both.
Nope
You can have the other Harper. Just as you have the other Champagnie. Y’all should add Thanasis too and open up a lil’ bro team.
