There are thousands of horrible drivers in every city. The reason people notice him is that he drives a fleet of instantly recognizable cars. He lives 3 blocks from the practice facility, I don’t think he’s putting people’s lives on the line like you guys think lol. He needs to grow up and become a better driver. I dont think this makes him a bad person.

Yeah, and if anything, that undersells his impact. Charlottes overall TS is up 1.8% with Lamelo on the court despite the fact that his personal TS is so low, so that means everyone else is feasting

Ball is one of the 5 or so most fun players to watch imo, because he will take crazy shots, actually hit some of them, make a few brilliant plays and a few boneheaded ones, and look like he is approaching it like a backyard pickup game. That kinda set shot that he has is very tough to defend because it can be hard to anticipate.

The key difference between the two is that Haliburton is much better going to the rim. If, and its a big if, Lamelo every figures that part out then the gap wont be as huge as you think.

It’s the opposite of players who are extremely cerebral since they have a smaller margin of error due to their limitations (Kon is a great example of this) while Lamelo can kind of be just like fuck it

I really hope he can continue to refine his play style without loosing what makes its special because he’s something special to watch

Teams can win with a terrible defender and have done it for years. KAT and Brunson are both pretty terrible defenders and Knicks win anyway. Trae young has often been the sole reason hawks win any games last few years and he’s a horrible defender. Even other guys like Duncan Robinson and Anfernee Simon’s usually find roles on teams who win and play bad defense.

Lamelo isn’t necessarily a bottom 5 defender in the whole league, but he does virtually nothing well on defense besides leave his man to get a steal or create chaos. Lamelo also can’t defend anyone who drives hard to the rim and loses concentration too often.

When Lamelo does focus it becomes harder to pick on him which is good.

Honestly I don’t even think aggression is his issue, he just loses concentration sometimes and has a high center of gravity combined with a weak base and upper body which makes him really easy to move off the spot on both offense and defense.

Hes had a history of reckless driving and this isnt the first time someone else has been affected by it.

I think some comments do go too far and I think his lawyers told him not to comment on the specifics so I doubt a public apology is coming. I dont think hes a bad or malevolent person but an immature person without bad intentions can be just as dangerous behind vehicles.

Those videos are all of one particular exit of the arena and are over 2 years old. I believe new ownership addressed that exit. The reason he would gun it out of that intersection was because fans would go up to his car at the intersection to get his attention. Thats where the lawsuit occurred. Fans were not putting him or other cars in a good spot wading into the road.

What I’m saying is Kon or not Lamelo would be playing better because he’s actually playing with the other starters.

Lamelo players better when he doesn’t have to take the difficult shots out of rhythm.

When he was playing without Brandon the last two years that’s what he had to do. 

Kon obviously helps with that but it’s not  a Kon or Brandon specific thing it’s Lamelo actually playing with nba starting caliber players 

Most players are bad their first couple of years. But I wouldn’t even say LaMelo was particularly bad, he’s been pretty good, he’s just been injured, and even when he was there, had terrible teammates. It’s not a coincidence that the first season he’s had good teammates who weren’t injured the team is suddenly gaining this upward trajectory
