[Highlight] Payton Pritchard (30 PTS (10-14 FG), 4 REB, 8 AST) tallies his third straight game with 25+ points off the bench for Boston as they defeat Los Angeles 111-89.
And we are paying him 7 million this year. Best contract in the NBA easily
Victor is on a rookie deal lol. It’s probably the best non rookie contract.
Wemby makes 13 this year and 16 next year.
…And he is a significantly more impactful player (he’s not *better* at basketball, but that’s relative when you’re 7’6” and the other guy is 6’1”). 3.7x more impactful by EPM. They are similar offensive level players, but one guy is also giving you DPOY level defense and the other guy is a decent negative defensively.
Oh for sure, I’d happily trade PP for Wemby :) Just saying even though he’s on a rookie contract, he’s making much more than PP.
PP’s DRTG this season is above average among all NBA players who play significant minutes. Just because he’s short doesn’t mean he’s a defensive liability. He’s only weak defensively in the context of playing alongside a bunch of elite defensive wings.
Obviously he’s not Wemby (who is a top 5 defensive impact player in the league depending on which metric you’re looking at), but he’s very far from a traffic cone.
Defensive rating is a useless measure. Do not use it. We have much better stats. Like what I mentioned.

He is not a good defender. I’m a Celtics fan. I love Pritchard. He is extremely limited on that end.
Watch some games and put away your useless stats. He holds up very well.
Avidja’s contract is probably better, but Pritchard’s is great too.
Same EPM and Pritchard makes half the money, so I think Pritchard still takes that.
Naw
…Yes.
It matches the longest such streak in franchise history since starters began to be tracked in 1970-71, joining Kevin McHale and Larry Bird.
The Celtics move to 169-135 all-time vs. the Lakers in regular-season play.
Hello nba, any update on the clippers aspiration scandal or gambling ruining the game??
Havlicek likely did it as well
10-14 FG
Efficiency GOAT
He’s flourished since being moved back to the bench this month, but interesting even in games Brown missed and he had to step up, he’s flourished.
They’ve gone 4-1 without Jaylen Brown with Pritchard in those games averaging 26.4 points, 8.2 assists, 4.4 rebounds, 50.5%/48.8% shooting.
Pritchard has stepped up and played like an all-nba talent those games. Those included a 45 point blowout, a 16 point blowout, and a 19 point blowout, a 21 point blowout, with their only loss being by 2 points. That’s projects to 66 wins.
If I were Pritchard, I’d probably say something like “I’ve sacrificed over the years for us to be a championship-caliber team. Now we’re seeing what I was sacrificing. Being at the helm, and us being on a 66 win pace, versus last year we only won 61 games. It’s almost been no drop off with five players + Jaylen Brown that are essentially gone”
Reggie miller was on to something caitlin
I’m not sure why this was considered an insult.
Clark career WNBA stats: 18.5 points, 8.5 assists/5.1 turnovers, 5.5 rebounds, 40.5%/32.9%/88.7%
Pritchard’s stats this year: 17.6 points, 5.4 assists/1.3 turnovers, 4.2 rebounds, 46.9%/36.8%/86.1%
Reggie was trying to make an actual 1:1 comp as if she could actually play in the NBA. He was probably just thinking “she’s 6 feet and can shoot from anywhere… let me think of a 6 footer NBA player who can shoot from anywhere”, which in actuality you could consider a MASSIVE over-compliment to suggest that Clark could make a Pritchard-like impact if she was playing in the men’s league, but people took it as an insult because he didn’t instead list off the name of some NBA hall of famer.
💯 but in context of the moment with camera on and staring at each other foreheads he maybe should have just said she reminds me of me lol
Coldest white boy in the league!
Sheesh didn’t realize that was his 3rd 25 or more off the bench in a row. That’s impressive
I think he’s had 20+ in 6 of the last 7 games, all off the bench, which feels arguably even more impressive
I just looked it up, since moving to the bench he has gone from 16.8⁄4.3⁄5.3 on 46/35/86 shooting to 23.6⁄3.6⁄6.4 on 54/47/88. The seven game sample size is small, but those numbers over a season would be insane for a sixth man.
Maybe we can take 1st half of season Anfernee Simons and 2nd half of season Pritchard and combine them for a super strong 6MOTY case
can somebody please get my man some tree planting company endorsements cause what he’s doing on his contract is unbelievable
These are some of the greatest plays I’ve seen in a while. Love the footwork.
His Jumper is Pure man, thing of beauty!
Hmph, thats funny, r/lakers would have you thinking LeBron was the star getting fried by these quick, perimeter centric type guards.
HOLY SHIT
all star next year
Pritchard making an ASG before Derrick White would create the meanest mixed emotions as a Celtics fan, but I don’t think you’re wrong.
Thunder and Celtics fans are gonna have a field day after this game lmao
He was in the rhythm and he made the long 3s looked so easy.
Magical night. Couldn’t have won the championship two years ago without Taytum… but this team’s true chemistry and potential are really coming through with him on the bench.
