[Highlight] Pritchard breaks Vanderbilt’s ankles and knocks down the three
Caitlin Clark could never
CC = PP
They’re calling him the white Caitlyn clark
He’s living up to the comparison more and more everyday
this comment thread is the definition of “duality of nba fans” ššš
Can’t argue with that. We’re a complicated species over here.
Not really, at least for this thread.
There’s two camps, those who understand physics and those who don’t. Which kind a tracks with how illiterate the country is becoming.
That said, it is what it is. Refs haven’t been calling push offs for whatever reason so we move on.
I donāt want to watch a league where this is called a push off. This is a normal offensive play followed by a flop by the defender. Not an ankle breaker or a push off, just a flop.
Boston v la always brings that out.
I was watching it with a friend, whos a Lakers fan and he was so mad.
When he complained about the push off, I pointed out, that it looked like PP had his foot on the line as well, he was fuming and it didn’t get better.
Was also the first time we watched ball together in ages.
Clear push off but lol
they never call the push off
Depends who is doing the pushing off
They called one later on JB
They didnt call all the other ones though.
Celtics fans are well aware lol it’s their team’s specialty
this year, for whatever reason, push offs aren’t a foul.
Jaylen and PP are great at a lot of stuff that’s legal in any era… but they fucking LOVE to push off. They are great at that too
Guess what Tatum is even better =)
Brown is so good at that shit. He’ll even use his head to nudge you out the way and he’s so subtle with it you have to slow it down to see how blatant it is.Ā
Insanely good player though. He’s been ridiculous this season
I like fairness in sports. Glad to see you being honest about what that was.
Most ankle breakers are from stepping on/tripping on a foot and/or pushoffs tbh. Getting a clean one is very rare.
Jaylen Brown on Luka was clean last year or the year before and it was insane, but also have to acknowledge Luka’s legs were toast at that point
And foot was on the line
Edit: iām wrong. Hereās the angle to prove it
https://youtu.be/mAssTbCRVpU?t=20
On replay it looked like he was behind
Broadcast replayed it. Foot was clearly behind the line but tough to see it here
Thanks, I wouldnāt have believed it based on this angle alone
Nothing new to the NBA. If anything, this is common. Good play
Yep. It’s like complaining about a carry. It happens dozens of times a game if you’re technical about it, but that’s not the way the rule is almost ever enforced.
Tonight they only called it after JB did it multiple times in one possession.
NBA have some of the strangest decision with how they call some rules overtime, considering how in theory those rules barely changed.
Bro whatever, Shai does worse than that multiple times on a drive.
Yep. Shai will grab, hook, and push off in a single drive.Ā
Kudos to pointing it out. I couldnāt find a good angle, but had a high suspicion as itās his go to on stepbacks. Frustrating to watch, but doesnāt get called often so no reason to stop doing it. like EmbiidĀ
Iād never let Vando hear the end of it if I was pritch (despite it being an offensive foul)
His arms are small so the full extension doesn’t look as bad.
Yeah but he sold it hard lol, fell after he thought about it for a microsecond….you can see the pauses and then fall in the other angle haha
Hit the weight room lil fella
[deleted]
Cant believe dudes r calling this a flop š
I dont think it needs to be called an offensive foul (replay showed itās not egregious) but getting a shove while shuffling is absolutely enough to knock you off balance
Deadass think thereās a crisis of people calling everything a flop. Go down to your park and watch a pickup game. Sometimes people do genuinely just fall lol
I agree w this. Big difference between flopping and losing your center of balance.
Your comment is a flop! My comment is just embellishing a little.
Which L do Lakers want to take?
Getting bullied by Payton or getting ankles Broke?
Payton is no slouch, so its hardly an L
He’s no Caitlin Clark tho
Dude is a stocky 200+ lol what are you talking about
200 at 5’11” means he’s a fucking tank lol. And he’s lean too. I’m not surprised he has a serious post game while being so shortĀ
He’s fucking built too. Thick and man made. You can tell he’s sculpted because you can see it thru the pads. His fucking vice grip thighs. Suffocating thighs. Rock hard thighs. Piping hot thighs. Great arms. Great abs. A stocky chest. Love the progress his body has made throughout his youth and now as a willing eager adult.
Goat pastaĀ
Pritchard is listed at 6’1 and 195 lbs FYI
Pritchard is not 6’1” lol. He’s a strong 5’11”. He’s Davion Mitchell’s size. I’m a Celtics fan too
And even if he was 6’1”, 195, that’s still a tank of a guy
Literally nowhere has he ever been listed at 5’11.
This is a picture of him next to Chris Paul before he was even done growing. https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2F30b59yp1owu61.png
Chris Paul is famously 6 foot flat and Pritchard is clearly an inch or two taller. He’s definitely 6’1. You being a celtics fan doesn’t mean you can’t be wrong lol
Agree he is still pretty big for his size. Similar build to a fred vanvleet, who is also underrated strong AF
Bronny is 6ft1 220
The one where we suck and Celtics don’t
Bouf of them
and they just let him buzzer beater P!!!
Seems like theyāre going with bullied by the guy from Hoosiers.
Not getting back on D and getting wrecked in transition
Getting bullied but minus the push offs š„¹
pushed his ass off lmao
Maybe donāt flop like crazy at the slightest push and try playing defense
Do you guys understand that if you’re moving backwards and pushed with a full arm in the same direction it’s pretty hard to stay upright?
Don’t expect r/nba to understand physics
Or athletics
lol, itās funny seeing people fail to grasp the concept of forward momentum
Theyāre shitting on the lakers common sense goes out the window
Poor lakers fans š„²
You get used to it
Heās just never played ball
Especially when youāre not expecting it
Smart literally got elbowed in the face and they called a foul on him lol
Like every great guard
Redditors proving they don’t know how physics work with these height comments lol
he overexaggerates how hard he got pushed which makes it look worse. he probably still wouldāve got cookedĀ
Yeah only reason heās trying to sell the foul is he knows itās his only chance at that point
Which honestly is what he should do. If refs are consistently not calling push offs, players exaggerate more. And then when they still donāt call it, then thereās nothing you can do anymore
It’s 100% what he should have done, also 100% a brutal highlight clip because of it
This is how flopping in soccer became a thing.
Horrible push off. Hasn’t been a real ankle breaker in a while it feels like
hunter broke giddey’s ankles not too long ago. and i mean literally broke them, he ended up being injured afterwards
Ya, that was filthy https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1os83jr/highlight_deandre_hunter_breaks_giddeys_ankles/
blame brunson
I stubbed my toe today and blamed brunson, you don’t gotta tell me twice
https://youtu.be/sPiWvQteEVk?t=37&si=4TE-6KGul27lHBEo
Luka shook a dude out of his shoe earlier this season
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mj1PCljgTY
“Breaks”
Yeah if Vanderbilt wasn’t trying to sell contact, he flipped a coin on getting the offensive foul call but it landed on a highlight reel for Pritchard lol
“three”
ISO P
You mean stiff arming the fuck outta him
Payton āDerrick Henryā Pritchard
Thatās even worse then, your best defender just got pushed to the ground by a 6ā2 White dude š
What does him being white have to do with anything?
Bro people are acting like Pritchard is small! Dude is the size of an NFL safety. Fucking nerds
200lbs is huge for an NBA guard of his size, everyone in this thread is disrespecting him.
He was 211lbs at this years training camp. Bros stout
Damn. Was not aware of that. One person is in here saying hes one of the smallest guys in the league haha.
He meant gym rat
Another victim of an r/nba microaggression against the Caucasian race. Genuinely scary times. Not sure how it’s permitted.
Vando flops to exaggerate contact but it shouldāve been called anyways.
should have gotten a flopping ft for that
They legit never call pushoffs. No chance this gets called
Moving backwards + high center of gravity, any strong athlete would be able to push them like this
Everyone defending floppers like crazy
If you get pushed that far by a 6’0” player as 6’9” forward in the NBA you’re flopping
Thereās this thing called momentum
Push off
He pushed him
He breaked him with his elbow that’s for sure (pause)
vanderbilt floppin ahh
My biggest basketball ick is definitely watching push offs getting called a ankle breaker lmao
I still remember lance stephensons ankle breaker where he step on the guys foot lol
Usually itās because the offensive player steps on the foot of the defender.
Doesn’t even make sense. He didn’t say he doesn’t like people pushing off, he said he doesn’t like people calling push offs ankle breakers.
You mean when he pushed him, fully extended arm? Yeah broke his anklesā¦
Breaks lol
Clear and obvious push off.
Caitlin Clark canāt do that
Can someone explain to me where the Caitlin Clark/Peyton Prichard stuff comes from? Lol. Itās all over this thread for some reason.
Reggie Miller said his NBA comp of CC was PP. On TV while she was on the same panel lol.
Lol. Damn.
Nice clear push off
*insert sound of tires screeching
Big PP energy
Thread really highlighting the Lakers fans here lol. If this was Lukaā¦
If Vanderbilt didn’t try and sell the contact and flop it probably would’ve been called offensive foul.
Naw, they weren’t calling Shit on you guys this game.Ā
Celtics in 5
HE TOUCHED EARTH!!!
No push just a murder
*pushed off
The funniest part is in the replay, Jamal is too honest to not admit that is not a push off.
Is that not a two?
It definitely is.
Omg
Should be considered a hate crime
Clear push off
He pushed off. Lame.
Nice flop
Chucked
I think its a push?
Cracks me up reading the ābiggest push off everā type of comments. You ever actually done anything physical before? You ever had your momentum going one way especially backward and tried to stop on a dime? Yes the āoffenderāās arm goes out, but thatās also just to help stop you because youāre trying to stop on a dime. One goes one way, the other goes the other. Thatās why the refs donāt call it. Thereās no real foul.
Youāre whole explanation is just an explanation as to how a small push can push a defender down and how it is a foul.
Your*
The explanation is, “this is a normal play that’s called this way more or less every time”. Arguing is just an excuse. It’s fair to want it to be different, but this is how they call those plays now. Your guy got smoked, and it was really funny!
Pushed the defender down? Do you actually think if theyāre standing right in front of eachother and nothing else is happening and without the motion, he could throw him down with that motion? Obviously not.
How is you comment relevant at all to this discussion?
Yeah a lot of time your arms just flail that way without actually using strength. It’s both a slight push off and change of direction/loss of balance
I dont think you can tell from this angle if it was a push off or not.Ā
YEAH!
Look at Caitlin Clark go!
Holy push off
Nice shot, but definitely a push off
push off doesnāt count, eh?
Why are their own announcers so hyped? Lol
this is ai
Like Allen Iverson AIš
*Pushed
Damn went out sad
Man I have to forgive Reggie for the CC comp. Probably disrespectful to Pritchard
Ain’t no probably, it was. Her reaction shows how far gone we are as a sports society.
Pritchard’s gravity when he has the ball is insane for a bench player. The fake inside had Vanderbilt completely committed and he was already on the floor before the ball even went through the net.
Lol somebody should link the Josh Giddey ankle break thread and compare comments to this one
Sit down.
Pritchard is the most underrated player in the league. He’s won the Celtics 5-10 games by himself this season.
Boston getting away with that push off all night. The JB & SGA signature move.
Thereās my favorite player in the east
put ur arms down bro lmfaooo
That is fucking cold
I understand PP pushes off pretty frequently and should usually be called way more often than he is
However, I also find it very fucking funny when dudes who have 50 and 6+ inches get caught by it and complain about push offs lmao
Payton “Caitlin Clark” Pritchard
Im fine with “short guys” (6’2 and under lets say) having a larger leeway for being physical…
wtf else can they possibly do? Are you only allowed to fly around and get sneaky steals like Alvarado?
Also its hilarious/bad for optics when these massive 6’8+ dudes are bitching about being pushed around by lil passport P
*shoves with a no call.Ā
Thatās a weird way of saying that he pushed vando
you killed it
That’s a 2, not a 3. It’s very obvious.
Iām sorry thatās Peyt āCaitlin Clarkā Pritchard to you
Pushed him HARD
Ye, with a foul.
Payton Push off didnāt break any ankles on this play
I really donāt know what an offensive foul is and isnāt anymore, because that was a clear push off once you see it from above, even the commentators mentioned it on the replay. Feels like the only thing they call is if the offensive player literally plows his shoulder through someone.
Yep. That is (for better or for worse) not a call almost any time, for any player. I hope they change it, but that’s an oddly legal play by today’s standards. Complaining about this is like complaining about traveling or carrying. The written rule just doesn’t matter, it’s not how they officiate it.
I get that, a lot of players do it even though itās illegal, but it seems like offensive players can get away with all contact except tackles these days. Iām just annoyed at the leeway the offense gets as a whole right now
I fully agree. I wish defense was allowed, and that offensive players weren’t rewarded for plowing through people and chasing fouls. The league doesn’t seem interested in fixing it, though. Giannis shouldn’t be able to running back his way through defenders. It’s definitely my least favorite thing about the modern game.
Whats Vando complaining there? Dude got sent to shadow realm and pretended he got pushed.hehe
Broke his own ankles TBH
Vanderbilt with 7 inches on Pritchard trying to act like Pritchard could actually toss him like that
Shattered his ankles back to the shadow realm
Jesus Christ he’s 6 feet tall and wears tube socks
Shame Clark had to be compared to him
