you obviously don’t watch enough kings games to know the real murray. he CANNOT dribble to create his own shot, as evidenced by his low assist numbers. his 3 has fallen off a cliff since his rookie year. when stars are out, he doesn’t step up to be the lead or 2nd scorer. and then there’s the passive mindset issue. coaches, teammates, and fans constantly saying he needs to be more aggressive.
if he develops as expected for a #4 pick, we most likely don’t get DDR. he’s not a starter and many on the kings subreddit, including myself, are calling him a bust.
He’s definitely a bad 4th pick but he’s still a pretty good role player. His defense is pretty good and he can do a little bit of a lot of things. I know his 3 pt shooting has gotten way worse but I think he’ll be able to start shooting better again.

Disagree, the draft already yielded 4 all-stars, the 3 you mentioned plus Duren (#10) who became an all-star this year.
Dyson Daniels (8th) was named All-Defensive First Team last year.
Shaedon Sharpe (7) is averaging 21/4/2.5
Mathurin (6) can go off for 30+ on any given night and is capable of being a lead scorer.
So talent is there, kings just ended up picking a dud.

Most didn’t project Williams as even a lottery pick. Duren fell vs expectations. he was seen on the bottom edge of the 2nd set of prospects. (Duren, Daniels, Mathurin, and Sharpe were the consensus 6 through 9 guys)
The general consensus was there was a pretty clear top 5, with Murray and Ivey as 4th and 5th (most had Ivey at 4).
Mathurin was the highest rated of the next set, though Sharpe had an interesting X factor.
Murray is probably more valuable than Daniels or Sharpe, but time will tell.
Not every forward needs a lot of self-creation. He looks to be a quality starter in the longrun if he ever got an ok group of players around him.

Sabonis isn’t a bad center, but it’s really hard to build around him. Ironically, he would be better fit with Hali than Fox.
On his old contract it might have been possible, but at the current contract he’s on (40+m rising to almost 50m) for the next 3-4 years its basically impossible with how the 2nd apron is
He’s not a good enough defender at the most crucial defensive position, that requires a lot of very specific team building and scheming to hide. Nuggets did it with Jokic but it helps that Jokic is literally one of the greatest bigs to ever play the game on offense, a 1-man offensive system unto himself and forms one of the better 1-2 punch in the league with Jamal Murray
Then you add in the fact its the fucking Kings, this is a franchise who in the year 2025 thought that Derozan & Lavine were their saviors. The franchise is a goddamn circus
