Then Capela started to fall off hard, and Trae started declining slightly for a variety of reasons; he got hurt by the rule changes, teams started guarding him differently, and little nagging injuries started to sap his quickness.

Nah he wasn’t. He was projected to be a lowish ceiling and high floor wing. For that draft he was a perfectly reasonable pick especially after Sarr didn’t want to get drafted to them.

At this point I’d guess not. The #1 pick rookie scale is no joke — he’d be making $17.5m in his 4th year. If he was picked lower it’d be a different matter — the 4th year option for the #8 pick is only half as much.

Of course, not picking up the option of the #1 pick is essentially admitting a huge mistake, but seeing as the pick was made by the since-fired Landry Fields it might be a little easier to move on from him.

As a Pacers fan the one bonus of this shit season for us is we are getting to play walker 2000 or so minutes this season, and not just in an edge role.

Its looking like with this experience he might actually develop into a rotation caliber player. Still really rough at times, but he has been looking better as the season has progressed.
