[Highlight] Refs miss the blatant goaltend from Chet resulting in an OKC three on the other end
Two refs staring right at it lmao
The whole cavs bench saw it
The people at the ISS saw it. A goaltend is hard to call when you are trying to determine if the ball was at the peak of it’s arch and coming down, but here everyone saw it bounce off the backboard, NBA refs are something else man.
The bias is real. Just wait for the playoffs.
They just won the championship lmao
Isn’t the implication that it will be worse in the playoffs?
Last year’s playoffs were the worst in history because of it
Did you deadass stop watching after the Lakers got whipped R1? Last years playoffs were incredible.
Clippers v Nuggets going 7. OKC v Nuggets going 7.
The Knicks and Pistons was an ultra competitive 6 games series. Knicks v Celtics was incredible to watch with down to the wire wins, result was the same regardless of Tatum.
Then lastly the team of destiny Pacers using devil magic past the Bucks, Cavs and Knicks all the way to G7 of the finals vs the Thunder.
Nesmith v the Knicks is one of the craziest heaters I’ve ever watched live. Haliburton hitting at least 1 game winner/game tying shot in every series.
Genuinely the best nba playoffs since 2022, arguably the best of the decade so far.
Yes. Another example of someone not understanding the subtext and just firing off a snarky reply
Undeserved ring from refball in game 4 and Hali’s Achilles exploding. Dort was allowed to shove Hali out of the way with both hands when the pacers were down 1 with less than 2 minutes to go. I’ll get the clip.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?t=617&v=mjzhf0aXXEg&feature=youtu.be
Here it is. That’s also the second time he’s put hali on the ground that game without getting called, the first was shoving an elbow into him during free throws. Wasn’t a flop either
Undeserved, eh? lulz
Edit: To be clear, the Hali injury was absolutely devastating and robbed the NBA of Game 7 for the ages.
Yes undeserved. Pacers were the better team that series and should’ve won it. You guys got bailed out by refball
I wholeheartedly disagree with your opinion, and we’ll have to agree to disagree. 🌩🏆🌩
Congratulations, you don’t know ball.
Keep glazing a team that plays embarrassing basketball
Man, I like Haliburton, and I try and separate how I feel about him and the Pacers from douche canoe fans such as yourself, but damnit, some of you assholes make it difficult.
douche canoe
And I thought thunder fans couldnt get any cornier
At this point you’re just sad man… 🤣🌩🏆🌩🤣
Hope y’all get a good pick in the ‘26 Draft and maybe we’ll see you in June of 2027!
Get gifted one ring on a silver platter by the refs and forget how to act. Embarrassing fans for an embarrassing team
The 4th quarter was reffed pretty poorly both ways, but people still comment on a clip of a single play talking about bias lmao like the refs don’t just consistently suck
Refs make NBA impossible to watch
Yesterday the Spurs were running away with the game in the first quarter. I think it was something like 24-6 like 5 or 6 minutes into the game and the refs started making some of the most befuddling calls in favor of the kings while completely ignoring our guys getting hacked. Once the game started getting more competitive and the score was closer to 30-21 they went back to calling the game normally.
You can’t convince me these refs are not purposely influencing the games for one reason or another.
They do that all the time lol. Turn a blowout back into a competitive game.
Oldest entertainment trick in the book. I’ve seen it time and again. If it’s on national television you can almost book them to bring back the game within a certain amount of time and deficit
The refs certainly tinker with the games at a micro level. This is especially apparent for home games when the home team is falling behind.
I use to be confused and baffled about the way they call games. Then I came across a few websites that track NBA referees. I’m no longer baffled.
I think it’s just that refs are humans and officiating basketball is just insanely hard. So they miss a lot and it’s easy to fool refs.
Fans are also extremely biased and always think the refs are fucking over their team and helping the team they dislike.
every part of the NBA from Silver all the way down to the players and refs all benefit from closer more competitive games. it keeps the fans watching.
try again.
If you all actually believed the NBA was fixed from top to bottom, you’d stop watching.
You’re all just angry and venting.
I imagine you would have been saying the exact same shit in 2007 lmao
you’re moving the goal posts. no one said “it was all fixed top to bottom”.
we said the refs and the organization put their thumbs on the scales to keep games close and the fans interested.
you’re blind if you think it NEVER happens
Ah, so it’s not fixed top to bottom, it’s just that everyone running the NBA, from Silver (the top) to the refs (the bottom), is altering the outcomes to be what they want (aka fixing).
Again, if you all actually believed this, you’d stop watching.
hey im a guy who stopped watching because i believe that
Of course an OKC fan who has benefitted from ref bias has this type of take lmfao
Fine the jazz tanking !!
They need to be able to overturn these at the next dead ball. It makes no sense that they can do this for 3s being 2s (or vice versa) or a player stepping out of bounds but they can’t do it for a goaltend.
Get the fucking call right.
Agreed. Don’t go back in time to restart play, but put the points on the board.
Are you still counting the McCain 3? If so, it’s not coherent at all.
Yes. Like niceguydan said, it’s the same thing they do when they review 3PM to see if the player stepped out of bounds or was on the 3-point line.
They don’t restart play if they determine the shooter stepped out of bounds. They just take the points off the board.
.. You really need to think about this for more than two seconds.
When they review a made basket, the basket was made. Nothing about the ensuing basketball possession changes because it begins from an inbound regardless of whether the ref counts it as a 2 or 3.
What you are suggesting is entirely different, and the more you think it through the less sense it makes.
Example: Chet commits goaltending here and it isn’t called. A Cavalier gets the rebound off of the block and hits a 3.
Uh oh. Now what? Do you give the Cavs the 2 points AND those 3 points? Well that makes no fucking sense. So now you have to add even more stipulation to sort this out.
not really. if the offensive team has a shot goal tended and retains possession and scores, then the missed goal tend doesn’t get added. If they are fouled (non-shooting) or do not score and the other team gets possession of the ball then the goal tended shot gets added. Pretty easy way to carve that out in like 2 seconds.
(a) Why does it make more sense to count a 3 after a missed goal tend than to not count the 3 and just call the previous goal tend, if you are creating the possibility to call the previous goal tend? You have to rationalize your choice in that case.
(b) How do you handle shooting fouls? Goal tend on the layup. Ball gets to a shooter who is fouled on a 3PT shot. You have no idea how many free throws they’re going to hit. How do you handle it? Are we in a phantom world where they take free throws and, if they go, say, 1⁄3, we tell them “those free throws don’t count never mind!”
Two seconds were not enough
I see your point but a step improvement is still counting the goal tend. In this current situation the 2 points is better than what happened. It’s not like the goaltending is the reason they got 3 points even if it led to that
I think making the rulebook more convoluted and create worse edge cases isnt a step improvement
Missed calls happen, we don’t try to correct all of them
we don’t try to correct all of them
But when it’s easy to correct them, we should. Allowing the replay center or refs to review it on the next dead ball makes things more fair while not harming anything. It’s not perfect, but it’s better, and there is no downside.
How is that convoluted? It’s a goaltend. If anything it should just be called every single time.

Boston sports fan hiding behind no flair + no actual response to my comment
Try again
While we’re being pedantic there’s plenty that changes. Inbounding off a made 3 can be a very different dynamic than a side out (the latter is usually much more time to get set). Additionally, if a sub is at the table to check in that would be missed as well.
You put way too much thought into this. If the cavs got the rebound and hit a 3 just ignore the fucking goaltend and leave the 3. You don’t need to add magical points. It would be for if the flow of the game is going and you missed the block, you go back and adjust accordingly. It’s not that deep.
Why leave the 3 as opposed to count the goal tend? Why does that make more sense?
How do you handle shooting fouls?
Putting too much thought into changing how the sport works is a hilarious accusation. “hey bro this made sense in my head leave me alone”
This isn’t soccer. Nobody wants an advantage system.
I’m confused, why would it be so hard to have someone who reviews all layups off the glass for goal tends throughout the game? You can just set up a camera angle that looks along the backboard. If the refs miss it it’s caught about 5-10 seconds later. Just stop play, award the basket, and negate everything that came after it. Sort of like how you can strike things from the record in a court. Am I missing something?
I am responding to people saying you DONT stop play. You let it play out, count the McCain 3, and then at the next stoppage give points to the Cavs while still counting the McCain 3. I’m explaining the problems with that.
My bad I responded to the wrong comment of yours. You said it wouldn’t be an easy fix, but this seems pretty straightforward no? A made basket is also a dead ball so once McCain hits the three the refs get the signal from the goaltend checker who tells them to give Cavs the 2, take off the 3 for the Thunder, and reset clock to the time of the goaltend. Thunder ball and play on.
Okay so we leave it how it is. They don’t ever look back at a missed goal tend and they never get counted. Easy peasy
I do believe that is best.
Are we trying to get a call right or help the Cavs? Why would they get the better of 2 results?
Nah we don’t do second order thinking here
Absolutely agreed
Should cancel out the thunder 3 pointer too if you can add the goaltend
A missed goaltend leads to a live ball but a made basket doesn’t
Felt pretty obvious in real time. Surprised this wasn’t called.
First time watching the Thunder?
Fellow wolves fan here, definitely not haha
At least it didnt lead to 2 shots by SGA
Dude you are putting in some work in this thread. I hope Minnesota is paying you, you’re a top tier hater.
I wish your head coach and fan base weren’t such little bitches because your team is so fun to watch.
You put a lot of work into that comment, I hope Jared McCain is paying you, you’re a top tier glazer.
I wish your fans weren’t uneducated 15 year olds and had intelligent things to say about basketball, your team sucks ass to watch
Lmao that was awful dude. You can edit real quick if you want, I won’t tell. Workshop it a bit more.
Yeah I’m good have fun hanging on Reddit the rest of the day though
For real though, parroting the same sorry-ass “the refs love OKC” narrative instead of thinking for yourself is what you consider “intelligent things to say about basketball”? 🤡
Replying to the same comment twice, Oklahoma level dedication here
You can’t cry your way to a title but damn if you aren’t trying
That’s some Oklahoma logic right there
bro what is ref #71 watching? like what could he possibly be looking at that could distract him from making that call lol
His Kalshi account balance
The defenders for contact underneath. He’s not watching the ball and goaltending is not his call. Should be either the center or trail coming in to make that one
Not his zone. Trail or C position ref needs to get that. Ref 71 is in lead and watching contact between the players
I believe what happened is C got his eyes around late and didn’t want to guess, you can see him trailing in the video with a 7 footer getting into his eyesight late.
As for trail, I have no idea why he didn’t call it. He was looking right at it
Refs riding OKC haaaaaaard today
This is infuriating to watch
Welcome to every OKC game, where hand checking is completely legal on only one half of the court.
Waaaahhh. Waaaaaahhh. Wah.
My god your fanbase is insufferable.
In their defense the only thing they have besides basketball is heroin and fucking their cousins.
Lmao it shows.
They’re literally never not. It’s why watching okc is so miserable
Lmfao OKC mauled this sub’s golden boy in a game 7 and they’ve had it out for them ever since
So just a day ending in y.
Today? It’s every game
Feels insane to agree with Lakers fans about favoring one team in officiating, but here we are
*everyday
Today?
Huge missed call
Having 10 turnovers to start while the other team is red hot, that’s kinda a big no call. Cavs get the lead and maybe momentum changes finally.
Big momentum swing with the 3 on the other end after this! Felt like it totally took the wind out of the Cavs sails
Seems to be a pattern in Thunder games
I know this mf with a Lakers flair isn’t talking
OKC has gotten a great whistle today. We started out bad but we deserve the right to claw back in
Thank the basketball gods you only need to play them twice a year
Nah refs are genuinely bad this game. We’ve benefited more today you can’t deny that.
Yeah, I’m not arguing that. I’m talking about the same Timberwolves fan whining at least 3 separate times in this post.
Some fans are just jealous. We’ve gotten some favorable whistles and we’ve also been the recipient of some unfavorable whistles. Today was the former.
Agree. When you have league pass and watch games every night it becomes apparent—calls swing both ways for every team all the time. The narrative that the refs are in the bag for a certain team is hogwash.
Unless it’s the Lakers. 🤭
Crywolve
You kinda fell flat on your face with this one. Pretty weak
Everyone knows they’re the log dogs.
incompetent refs lol idk how you miss that
Par for the course when playing OKC. If it was Shai though they would give an and 1
Thank you adam silver for rigging the league for us 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I can’t even be mad at you right now
Everyone knows that Oklahoma City getting wins is good for the NBAs wallet!
And thank Philly for JMac!
The officiating has been downright awful, borderline suspicious this game. Not the first OKC game where that’s been the case…
hahahahah
OKC is the NBA’s baby
goo goo ga ga i wan more chip mistah silvuh
Yeah. Oklahoma is Adam Silver’s favorite place, I’ve heard.
Clown
Any more than the people suggesting he’s rigging the nba for Oklahoma fucking city? 😂
I can’t believe someone can be so dense. Classic Oklahoman.
Firstly, not from Oklahoma. Second, wanna explain then, seeing as you’re soooo much smarter than me?
Firstly, not from Oklahoma.
I wouldn’t admit that either. Gtfo of my notifications you clown
So no explanation then?
Dense and desperate. Move on.
Lmao dude is terrified to actually have to try and elaborate
I’m from Oklahoma, would you like to test wits and knowledge against me?
I’m an original Okie too, been here all 37 years of my life. So this is about as good a chance as anyone could have to take a shot at someone who should serve as a good representative of our state’s educational system.
How about it champ? Or are you just gonna accuse me of being too sensitive or taking it too seriously? Because, I can take being labelled an idiot, could you take being labelled a coward?
Lmao
At least I seem to serve as entertainment for ya. Hope you have a better day than you seem to be having, if you’re having a great day? Then I hope it gets better for ya anyway.
i have no dog in this fight but this gotta b the most weakass flaccid trash talk i have seen in my life lmfao
Why are you using flaccid and dog in the same sentence u creep
OKC the city is small. OKC the fanbase is very large. As of last year, there were only 5 Reddit team subs larger. Some of that has inflated with their success, but 7 years ago during the tanking period they were still ranked 10th.
Also worth mentioning that the light at the end of the tunnel is here for the cast of superstars that have dominated the spotlight for the last 20 years. The NBA needs to push their replacements. SGA/JWill/Chet seem as likely as anyone to be pushed as the face of the league.
“Miss”
Refs hate the Cavs.
Its obviously a goaltend but that was a smoked layup anyway lol
Refs are trash what else is new
Me thinking maybe the ref didn’t have a good angle to see. It’s not like they see exactly what we see in replays, right?
Ref immediately shows up in the replay.
Yeah I mean the homecooking the Thunder get is really incredible
There’s always that one team they let be overly physical on defense as well
A grand conspiracy! To serve the smallest-market team! I can’t believe that you, yes you, saw through all the lies, at last!!!
Might as well crown them now
Hell yeah, thanks man, glad you’re such a big fan.
And that was the difference in the game. Five point lead with one minute left
Literally wasn’t even close. What the fuck?
Exactly! Not even close to a goaltend
But we gotta fix tanking first huh
No doubt this will be the highest upvoted post from our win today
OKC been has that protection. This ain’t new.
That’s tough but also one of those rare layups that hit the padding on the bottom of backboard lol
It’s sad that y’all upvote this over that beautiful dunk from Hartenstein. All y’all do is complain
Dude I cannot fcuking believe Jared McCain plays for Okc
I know, it’s awesome!
NBA refs are garbage.
Huge missed call for sure. Wonder if any of the missed calls on Chet getting the shit fouled out of him will get posted on here, surely everyone will be just as outraged….
“During a field goal attempt, touch a ball, which has a chance to score, after it has touched any part of the backboard above ring level, whether the ball is considered on its upward or downward flight.”
“Above ring level”
Ball touches below the rim, don’t think this is actually a goaltend.
Next point of the rule says: During a field goal attempt, touch a ball, which has a chance to score, after it has touched the backboard below the ring level and while the ball is on its upward flight.
Oh, don’t you dare bring the rulebook into this circlejerk. It doesn’t serve the narrative!
“Good job not foulin… oh that is definitely”
These refs are on something today. Missing calls both ways. My Thunder have gotten a few favorable calls recently and refs have missed a couple against the Cavs. I guess they’re consistently bad today but Thunder are benefiting more than the Cavs so far. Is it too much to ask for them to call it consistent both ways?
NBA used to be fun to watch. Now it’s missed calls, bad calls, and flops
There were multiple just horrible calls that fucked the Cavs over big time, like this play is a huge swing. Cavs might’ve won this game if the refs don’t botch multiple calls robbing of them of pts and instead leading to okc scoring
Blatant is a pretty strong word here. Refs are fallible man, just like all of us
this is a really bad call but it’s so funny how the only bad calls in the middle of random regular season games that get this kind of attention are the ones that help the thunder lmao
Refs are keeping okc in this game. Multiple missed calls going their way who would’ve thought.
Here come the conspiracy theorists who think the NBA is pushing one of the smallest markets in the league when it’s far more likely some 50-year-old ref missed a call. lmao
Can we see Harden’s lob pass that was called a goaltend?
Even a high school ref makes that call 10 out of 10 times. The ref had the perfect angle too.
I don’t understand why OKC is treated so favorably.
If you’re 50-50 on it, can’t you just call it and review? If the defender did actually block it’s way easier to award them possession and continue.
bias
How does 15 not see that,
Why is chet even swatting a shot off the board
5 point swing in a tied game
Momentum-shift no-call. Too many of this kind of bullshit.
It’s hilarious watching all the people who don’t watch games flock to these posts to talk about how bad the refs were and always are for us.
Meanwhile in the post game thread for people who actually watched the game, no one is even mentioning the refs lol
def missed. it was weird that nobody even reacted to it in game it seemed
Cavs bench seemed to be the only ones who noticed.
All the way down the opposite end of the court…
t was weird that nobody even reacted to it in game it seemed
Apart from Schroder and also the Cavs the bench? Do you have eyes?
Think they’re referring to the refs. As they’re the only ones that could actually “react” to it, by blowing signaling the goaltend.
Crazy that the refs only miss calls for OKC. Getting tired of it
Missed calls happen every game but when it’s OKC, the Illuminati was involved.
No I think this is the first time a ref has missed a call since the last thunder game
We’re apparently the only team that benefits from referee incompetence ig
Typical
OKC gets the types of missed calls that the Warriors got during their dynasty run. It’s scary. Missed fouls or goaltends like this leading directly to transition points are usually 5+ point swings and result in huge momentum shifts.
Especially at home.
Refs wanted the thunder to win sooo bad
They made Cleveland turn it over so many times too. Blatant.
Thunder BAD. BAD. cries
Everyone on their team is so unlikable in their own way:
Chet = goofy cheesedick
Shai = free throw merchant
Dort = Dollar Store Draymond
xD
It is a goal tend, but there is 0 percent chance that ball is going in the basket it was pretty short.
Oh, is that the rule?
It’s off the backboard so that can’t be goaltending lol. I know fuck all about basketball but I’m 99% certain goaltending only applies to shots coming down into the cylinder. If you put it off the backboard that’s the risk you take right???
Not quite. If it hits the backboard and has a chance to go in you can’t block it. I don’t know if it was going in so it’s no where near the worst I’ve seen
So why isn’t the famous LeBron block in the finals not goaltending? Like I said I don’t know ball very well
Because he touched the ball before/simultaneously with the backboard. Once it hits the backboard you can’t touch it unless jt clearly doesn’t have a chance to go in.
Undeserved trash shot from a Baiter. Not surprised the refs didn’t award it.
