If there’s a dumb take, NBA fans will have it. SGA, Jokic, then Cade. That’s the order it realistically should be at this point in the season.

Cade is a better playmaker imo, the assist numbers show this too. Cade is also a legit all defensive candidate this year imo, he is hard as shit to get through, Cade rocks both ends of the court.

Luka is a close 4th though. Way better is insane wording.

Luka is really damn good. Leading the league in scoring is incredibly impressive, especially on a team like the Lakers where LeBron and Reeves get plenty of time with the ball. But “way better” is such a stretch lmfao. I agree with you. He’s a close 4th. If someone said Luka should be 3rd, I would respect that take. But saying he’s “way better” than Cade is crazy talk.

I know it’s common though to think “player A plays defense and offense and player B plays 1 side of the ball, and 2 is better than 1 so therefore A is better” but offense (for an individual player, obviously defense is incredibly valuable) at the end of the day is more valuable. There is a reason that typically guys who only play offense are better than guys who are only elite on defense (like a Matisse Thybulle vs a Darius Garland or something). Ideally youd do both of course.

And we can’t simply gloss over Luka’s incredible playoff performances or the fact that he’s made the NBA finals.

Not saying Cade can’t become better than Luka, but I think people are getting lost in the narratives. I know Luka has a lot of negative qualities, but they’re things which he can clean up, and has at points in his career, just not consistently. I also despise the flopping but SGA flops and he’s still top 2 in the league.

And this is coming from someone who has been a huge Cade fan since he was in college.

The real asset of this deal is the 1st round pick swap acquired by the Pistons. As it stands they would swap the 30th pick with the 21st pick (something like that?), regardless, pretty shrewd move if you ask me. They were never re-signing Ivey anyways. If Huerter contributes anything for this team at some point it’ll only be a cherry on top.
