[Highlight] During a timeout with 4:34 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter, Kawhi Leonard is having a conversation with Ty Lue and then heads to the locker room. The ESPN announcer: “(Kawhi) doesn’t seem in pain, does not seem to be hobbling…”
Lol you can see the dude limping bro. Come on.
The media dictates the narrative.
LeBron went down early in the game on the elbow, they talked about how much pain he was in.
When DJJ got kneed by Reeves, They didn’t mention it or show a replay. (Dude was down for like a min of game time)
it’s called a stud swagger
fr everyone that’s hurt doesn’t need to be carried off by two people
That’s every basketball players walk though
He has a degenerative knee condition, publicly stated. There’s no reason for this post. It’s amazing that he’s played so much and they still traded their second best player away.
Don’t you know ESPN will slander the Clippers because they only glaze the Lakers?
[deleted]
Did you even watch the video lol. Doris doesn’t even speak during the video. It’s the other announcer speaking the entire time.
Dude had to get that Doris take off his chest whether it fit reality or not.
Y’all hate Doris so much that you gotta shit talk her commentary in this clip when it wasn’t even her commentating in this clip
Get help 🥴
For real. I never understood the Doris hate at all. She says goofy shit sometimes but so would you if you talked on air live for 6 hours a week or whatever.
She loves the game and knows ball, she gets passionate about ball and guess what a lot of times she is right
It’s one of those rent free things. You don’t even try to think about it. It just pops up anyway. For me, it’s Reggie Miller. Can’t fn stand this dude commentating games. Sometimes I’m sitting in my house by myself and out of nowhere I can hear someone yell, “Shooters shoot!” in full Reggie Miller mode. That’s how you know it’s gone too far.
Sometimes when I’m home all alone and it’s dark and stuff I say out loud “I’ve already called the police!”
You know, just in case there’s a home invader.
She rambles constantly, and I personally dislike how she gets breathless when pointing out the most mundane things e.g. “He plays the game with such JOY”! yeah, well thats how sports works, people enjoy playing them. You shouldn’t be awestruck by it like you just witnessed excalibur pulled from the stone
What’s your opinion on Eric Collins?
“She knows ball” LMFAO
She didn’t become her college’s assist leader by not knowing ball
I’d sooner listen to her takes than a guy who has a permanent butt groove in his chair from endless hours of RuneScape
Boom.
No way bro. Women’s college basketball assist leader? She must really know ball, you can tell by her announcing skills
And lmao at getting so upset you are viewing another person’s Reddit post history
I know, when I want ball info I go to Reddit like a REAL BALLER. 🤡
She poisoned our water supply, burned our crops and delivered a plague unto our houses!
Yeah I agree but overall I like her because I think she really likes basketball and I do learn some stuff from her sometimes, she does know ball when she feels like showing it
Imagine needing to hate a woman so bad you fall out of reality.
“This reminds me of the time the celtics….”…. by the way did you see tatum is ahead of schedule? Celtics are in great position.
Doris wasn’t even the one talking bro lol what
She just like me when I talk to girls
When you sprain an ankle it stiffens up after
What might cause a stiff ankle that wouldn’t be a good reason to leave the game?
I noticed he was moving gingerly after a fadeaway earlier in the game not that surprising he ended up sitting out
Believe it or not that’s my theory about all the calf/Achilles injuries happening, the fadeaway.
That backward launch is awkward on the calf and ankle.
Nah, it’s most likely a combo of just wear and tear and the herky jerky movements.
There’s a reason Lindsey Vonn tore her ACL, if you watch alpine ski sports, there’s a ridiculous amount of ACL injuries.
Same basic reasoning, just a different part of the leg; lot of force being exerted on their knees (in opposite directions) as they’re barreling down the mountain. Leg landing and turned one way, while their body torques and leans the opposite direction.
Achilles injuries are because the foot is planted (with energy and momentum going one way), and they’re quickly applying so much force with the push off (usually in another direction).
As people get stronger, and try to go faster, the human body, regardless if they strengthen the right muscles, can only take so much force before it breaks.
This is why we’re seeing more ligament and tendon injuries across most sports.
We’re probably testing the upper bounds of what an optimally trained human body can do for various physical activities.
I actually read an article where some doctors think the rise in soft tissue injuries is related to Covid.
And TBH I believe it. We don’t know what issues Covid has caused, but we know Covid is a vascular disease and that certainly impacts these injuries.
The timeline matches up, and as someone who got an autoimmune disease after Covid - likely caused by Covid - we don’t know what the after impact is either, and we’re no longer tracing it.
Interesting. I wonder if the euro step (and the thousands of hours of reps doing it) is what’s to blame for the increase. Not that the euro alone causes it, but could be a large contributing factor
Some sports medicine docs think that it’s the false step they’re all doing now. It stretches the Achilles as far as it can go until it’s in the weakest and most vulnerable position it can be in, while simultaneously contracting the calf muscles to explode off that step
It’s a different sport, but if you watch when Najee Harris tore his Achilles you can clearly see him take the false step and he immediately goes down
https://youtu.be/KdTsi3H6ofQ?si=nJ2dxow6Sh0ES9Nt
Same for Hali on the zero step
Had a ball coach whose wife was a PT back in the day; she warned/chimed in about the false step during our coach’s rant on wasted movements.
It’s also straight up over usage. Playing basketball (or any sport) year round-for life- can be murderous on the body.
Martial arts instructor similarly warned that prolonged dedication to the craft had destroyed his hips. This was a grandmaster basically saying, “do other things”.
Thats very interesting! I’ve been wondering about the increased prevalence of that type of severe injury lately and have some theories of my own but I hadnt thought about that one. Would love to hear more about it!
Well just think about not just how many fadeaways they shoot in games, but how many times they practiced those shots to perfect them.
The best players. Thousands of fadeaway shots, right? And maybe still practice a a few hundred fadeaway shots a week? They practice them in the shootarounds before the game so they must be a staple of shooting practice.
Thats absolutely a great point. There’s a ton of repetition behind the scenes that we dont even think about. But Im also curious about the biomechanics of that motion and why you think its so damaging?
It’s about the angle of the toe when you launch, the way you are jumping not up but backwards, and if you’ve ever practiced that shot it’s not uncommon at all to get this little tweak back there that just hurts right along the tendon and your calf feels tight.
Like not an injury thing it’s just almost more like a little sensation you get that goes away after you take a few steps. It’s difficult to describe but you know it if you’ve felt it.
Anyway, that’s what made me think of it.
The fadeaway was the bread and butter of some of the greatest players in the history of the game. Not buying it.
I shoot a lot of fadeways and have never noticed anything like that
These are not great points, nothing about a fadeaway stresses the Achilles in any way lol the biomechanics literally undermine this guys whole theory.
The fadeaway has been so prevalent since the 80s, exploded in the 90s, and these Achilles tears are way newer than that. The euro, the extra gather steps, all of that lines up timewise with the Achilles increase.
Bill Simmons mentioned that Halliburton and Tatum have the same shooting coach, but who knows
not really how the biomechanics work
MJ never had Achilles issues
Nah from what I’ve seen it’s the pump fake and then trying to quickly get to the basket whenever a defender jumps that’s a way bigger culprit. It’s exactly how Tatum and Halliburton popped theirs
For Tatum, you are wrong. He got his going after a loose ball to his left, he didn’t even have the ball.
He didn’t have the ball but it was the same motion as the false step Hali got hurt on
You realize pushing backwards doesn’t put strain on the Achilles right? It does the oppose of putting it in a compromised state
That looks like a hobble to me
It’s a back to back I don’t blame them for sitting him even if there’s a little bit of soreness, obviously he’s not going to be happy about it.
Having complained a lot about players returning from injuries to face the Lakers… I have to admit when the tables are turned and we get lucky.
Because wow are few things luckier than Kawhi suddenly not playing crunch time when he’s sitting on 31 points without breaking a sweat and dominating every matchup all night.
Garbage ESPN manufacturing tomorrows First Take segment
Minutes restriction on a back to back
Am I being gaslit into hearing Doris? Is there a male Doris announcer? Are you deaf brother?
Her remarks all game and the ones on injury that is not on the clip was insufferable
Yeah there was a play early in 4th Qrt that he suddenly stop playing defense that gave me feeling that he is hurt or something bothering him. There was also a lady during timeout in medical staff talking to him
Doris isn’t even speaking in this clip.
Or maybe you’re deaf because Doris didn’t say a single word in this clip?
Ty Lue texting his buddies the moment the camera cuts away
Bro people just can’t wait to out themselves as haters.
Vegas made a few calls
Thank god that he decided to sit out the rest of the game, could’ve faced a bigger injury.
I see a hobble.
He’s very obviously walking gingerly in the clip
Yeah, looks like his back hurts
Best not to risk injury.
Presti is part of Aspiration
He got a text from Dennis that one of the under the table payments is late.
That sucks cause it was a good game throughout.
Darryn Peterson taking notes.
Kawhi is better than Luka this year
Aspiration check didn’t clear.
*Looks like he’s limping. Still gotta get these jokes off, though.
Tree planting on the hilly terrains of Los Angeles puts tremendous strains of n your ligamens
I feel like ive seen Kawhi get injured so much that i lowkey knew something was up at the end of the 3rd quarter. He wasnt running back with the same energy
Probably his software part. I hope he isn’t using Windows OS. They always update at the wrong moments.
Had to poo
Those trees aint gonna plant themselves
Hey, he has a clause in his contract that says he doesn’t have to do anything for that $8 mil sponsorship money!
Media can portray it however they want. A player has not been as enjoyable to watch since Michael Jordan. Kobe came off like a shitty cover band. Kawhi is the real deal and we were robbed of what he could have been injury free and without the media vehemently hating him. Dudes like Jayson Tatum have never once been better than Kawhi. That’s a joke.
I will hate on the clippers and kawhi with glee, but you can’t say someone isn’t hurt if you’re not part of the situation. It’s ableist and mean.
He saw Petersons generational half assing run and started taking notes
Gotta go plant some trees.
He fulfilled the tree planting contract for the season… won’t play again until uncle Dennis gets a few more dollars to plant more trees.
Kawhi “load management” Leonard
Probably match and prop fixing to squeeze the last few measly dollars out of this sport
Oh no. He might be disqualified for All NBA teams too.
Iirc, he is just 5 missed games away.
Always get confidently injured whenever playing against Luka
Kawhi’s been a rampage lately so I get it, but it’s a much needed win, clutch time, and you’re having a great night. You gotta finish this one bro and maybe sit the next game or something
Ty (and probably the medical staff) was def the one who made the decision to rule him out. He’s clearly arguing to come back in, he’s not gonna be talking to Ty if he feels he can’t go. He would’ve just hobbled straight back to the locker room.
Or maybe it’s the reverse, and Ty was trying to convince him to finish the game
Could go either way, but it’s more likely that Kawhi would’ve just hid/played down the soreness if he didn’t wanna check out. Not like his game was suffering
Pretty cool you so casually want others to risk their health for your entertainment.
Players tweak their ankles all the time and stay in the game. Nobody even noticed a tweak or a decline in his game and there was like 5 minutes left
Not to mention he has a well documented history of sitting out on games when he didn’t need to
You must be a casual
You have no idea what he was dealing with. My statement stands.
“mY StAtEmEnT sTaNdS” 🤓☝️
Stick to anime and video games 😂
Wow you can type with alternating character caps, bravo. Did you learn your 1 2 3’s yet?
Weak attempt 🥱
Let me know when you moved beyond punching a clock to make someone else rich, then we can talk about learning, poindexter.
I’m moving on to people who actually know ball and what it’s like to be an athlete. You can have the last word if your ego is fragile enough to need ✌️
Lol talk about weak attempt
Dudes so weird sometimes. My GOAT, but still so weird. Could be minutes restriction on a B2B, but then just sit out and don’t play, don’t run away lol
He’s very clearly arguing to come back in, lol.
I stand corrected then. I might just be stupid
I just wanna know why that was your initial impression lol. Kawhi has never ducked the smoke.
In all honesty, emotions. We were close to winning and very much could have with a top 5 player still playing. Easier to blame on Whi rather than the team initially
Valid for admitting it 💯
Gotta take the L sometimes. Appreciate you boss 🫡
Ty wanted Kawhi to finish the game, but Kawhi had aspirations of his own
Opposite
