[Wembanyama] “I remember the All-Star game, last year, was the worst I had ever felt on a basketball court in my life. Because I had 5% maybe of blood flow in my right arm…”
My guy is talking about him being 21 like it was like 6 years ago…
Bro I’m closer to 50 than i am 21 now… where the fuck did the time go
I’m also closer to 50. Damn, I am 50.
What was junior bridgeman like?
I started watching in 84 when I was 9. I couldn’t even tell you he played for the Bucks at that time.
What was Dominique Wilkins like uncle
Amazing. Even as a Jordan truther, there is no denying how electric Wilkins was.
Jordan or Lebron? As someone who has seen both play.
Can’t compare. The difference in what is allowed on defense now vs then changed the game. (Pip is my all time favorite)
oh yeah, sorry I kept it too simple. The two as players are apples to oranges.
Would a better question be “who is your GOAT player?”?
Although I guess Pip would be your answer for that, either way, thanks for humoring my question!
Jordan
I blame Covid
ha! what a loser, i have…. 2 years until thats the case for me…shit
I’m 35, so I’ve got one more year to enjoy being closer to 21 than 50, I’ll be sure to cherish it.
He looked sorta fine in those Paris games last year, but that stretch after that going into the break he really did look rough and not himself. It was very noticeable, even before the news came out.
Seems like the travel/ games/ events in Paris may have exacerbated the DVT (especially the long flights). Once the adrenaline of playing in his home country wore off, he probably started to really feel fatigued.
Are there any long term implications or are we good to go now?
Wemby uses 5% of his powers in the All-Star game!
I wonder, how good would Wemby be if he lost an arm. Like he might be one of the only players in the world that could still be a starting centre with one arm.
Homie is harnessing one for all.
I’m just glad he’s been able to have a solid recovery. That’s some scary shit for anyone, but as someone who relies on pushing themselves physically for a career, oof. Excited to see how his career shapes up. I want that Mavs and Spurs rivalry again damnit! Hurry back Lively <3
The Mavs traded Luka
I can tell you haven’t watched much of Cooper Flagg with a comment like that, but that’s okay! I wouldn’t watch us either this year. We have a superstar in the making, and it’s gonna be fun no matter what as long as he’s on the floor. Thanks for the history lesson though!
I don’t think most basketball fans understand how bad this situation could have truly been.
We are gonna look back on this and realize this was almost another Len Bias situation. The basketball world was almost robbed of a generational talent once again. If Victor gets to play out his entire career and achieves what we all believe he can, we need to remember how close it all was to slipping away.
The basketball gods look in our favor here
this was almost another Len Bias situation
I agree with you otherwise but let’s not conflate an unforeseeable medical condition with a drug overdose. Greg Oden would be a better example.
That’s fair. In Len’s defence, he was known to be a good kid and didn’t really party. He had a human moment where he decided to do something out of character and he paid the ultimate price.
Just for what it’s worth.
Definitely one of the biggest what-ifs in NBA history
And to think all we had to do was sacrifice Lonzo balls knees
A DVT can just slash your stamina in half and make you recover even slower. Not to mention the pain when exerting yourself it’s miserable
I had multiple blood clots, including one in my arm. It felt like my arm was going to fall off.
No idea how he balled through it.
For what it’s worth, I also had my best times at autocross when I started feeling the clot.
Spurs gotta win now. He’s not going to have a long career.
Well now that Nostradamus has said so surely his career is doomed. Spurs better not give him that contract this summer
so they knew about the blood clot and he still played?
Pretty sure he means this is what they learned later.
No. He just initially thought it was soreness. Once it kept getting worse the staff found it was dvt and immediately sat him and fixed the issue.
They learned after the fact. The spurs take care of their players really well.
They found out much later and Wemby likely did what any 21 year old athlete would do. Downplay it and assume it’s a tiny niggle that’ll go away on its own.
DVT and lack of circulation doesn’t show up as sharp pain spikes. The symptoms are more like soreness, fatigue, slight ROM loss. Stuff that mimics minor conditions that most ppl can play through at first and recover with minor pain and rest management.
The fact that it didn’t got better is what clued them in to look for a deeper problem.
not to sound like a homer or anything but you people should learn to realize Spurs is the last team that would do anything like that
