For this season SGA has 403 points off free throws. The second most in the NBA is Harden at 358.
Last season the leader in free throws made was SGA at 601. The second most was Harden at 505. This isnt some conspiracy theory thing. 24% of his points scored last year came from free throws. There’s a few players that get the same amount of fta per game as SGA but a disproportionate amount of his scoring comes from them. A lot of players abuse flopping but the reigning MVP will get the most scrutiny.
Leaders in ratio of free throws attempted to points among players (at least 20 GP and 10 PPG this season). SGA is nowhere near the top.

Adam Silver needs to suck it up and start having referees penalize this shit. Have a review team determine if a flopping call is neccesary and have the penelties grow with number of flopping calls a player gets both in-game and season long.
First one is a turnover, second one is freethrow for other team and turnover, third one is two freethrows and turnover, fourth you’re out of the game. Hit a certain amount in the season and you get suspended for x games.
It’s universally hated and pretty much everyone agrees that the nba would be better without it but Silver is so scared of taking away some ppg and efficiency stats from superstars he only pretends to care

This is poor reffing too. It was many years ago when I reffed intramural basketball, but one of the items they trained us on was head snaps like this. It is an obvious exaggeration and an indication that the offensive player was in control of their movements and likely wasn’t fouled (unless they got hit in the head causing the snap back).
Nobody gets hit in the chest and has a natural head snap back motion. The head stays in the same spot, or looks down, as the chest moves backwards.
You know when your head snaps back like that? When you get rear ended and your body moves forward in the seat from the force and your neck and head tilt back as they stay in the same spot for a moment.

I used to hate this stuff too until the Rockets drafted Yao. Defenders would foul him every single play. But unlike Shaq, Yao’s game didn’t really let him reciprocate that contact the way Shaq could. And I remember thinking Yao needs to take lessons from Divac so he could get more (correct) fouls called. Unfortunately, never happened.
Part of the reason why I am much more unapologetic about Harden’s BS than most Rockets fans. I’m old enough to remember what it’s like when a star plays fair and gets taken advantage of.
