Jokic is the best player in the NBA, full stop. But I don’t think he’s as valuable to the Nuggets as Cade is to the Pistons.
I like SGA, but he’s not as good or as valuable as Cade is. SGA plays off the ball a lot more than Cade and can coast to get easy buckets. SGA isn’t close to as good of a defender as Cade and he’s not the assist man he is. SGA is a better shooter and gets to the line a lot more because he’s perfected the flop or head throw back.
Cade doesn’t have a #2 scoring threat. He’s got a good big man who catches ally oops. But mostly he’s creating everything for that team. He’s making an MVP push, probably still an underdog, but that should start to change IMO. Last night was a statement and I think MVP voters took notes.
I don’t think you’ve ever watched Shai play basketball before tbh. Shai has one of the highest isolation frequencies in the league and the highest points per possession out of those isolations out of high volume scorers. He does not “coast to get easy buckets” by playing off ball. Saying that Cade is more valuable to the Pistons than Shai is to the thunder is debatable but a fine position to have, but saying that SGA is “not as good” as Cade is an insane take and you should probably stop talking about basketball.
Cade is a better defender, rebounder, and passer than SGA. SGA is better at getting to the line and he’s a better shooter.
But isolations aren’t a common thing with Cade since he sees double teams because he doesn’t have the talent around him that SGA does to create isolations. If Cade got a few more isolations a game, he’d be averaging 30 a game. And the Pistons needed more shooting at the deadline, teams are just packing the lane against them so Cade is having to weave through 2 or 3 guys to score.
Both great players, I was happy SGA won MVP because I think pure scorers like him were under valued in the NVP race for a while. But Cade just took it to a new level this year and deserves the MVP.
I’ll give you that Cade is a better POA defender than Shai but Shai is one of the best help defenders at the guard position in the league and is no slouch on that end. Also your point about the double teams is just not true. We have the stats and they say that Shai and Cade are doubled at about the same rate, but Shai scores off those doubles at a super elite 1.34 points per possession while Cade is below average at 1,03, and Shai turns the ball over the least out of all players in the league who are doubled at his rate at 3.89 while Cade is lower than most but turns it over 2 more times a game at 5.87. Cade is definitely a better passer than Shai but to say that if Cade had more isos a game he would average as much as Shai when his iso points per possession are comparable to Dillon Brooks at the volume he is at currently is questionable to me.

I, genuinely, could not give less of a piss about flopping. It is so ludicrously far down on my list of concerns about the league that it barely even deserves mentioning.
