i love me some benedict mathurin but saying he is better or even will be better than what nesmith provides on such a nice contract to round out the starting rotation is absurd
I love Mathurin but I don’t think you really know what you’re talking about. Strictly in terms of fit, Nesmith was way more valuable to the Pacers. Mathurin’s skill set didn’t mesh with what the Pacers want to do at all.
I’ll echo what the other guy said, I don’t think you know what you’re talking about if you think Mathurin is an efficient scorer, plays well within a system like the Pacers and is a strong defender.
He is none of those things.
He is a streaky scorer, but mostly in isolation, not within a ball movement heavy offensive scheme. He isn’t a great defender, pretty undisciplined. His best skill set is scoring if you give him a full green light, and he is a strong rebounder for a guard.
