The worst is when he’s off ball and jumps on a defender’s shoulders to make it look like he got pushed out of nowhere. Did it to Lopez and Neiderhauser tonight, did it to Dunn and Zubac in the playoffs.

It just makes basketball horrible to watch. For one of the best players in the league to resort to that bullshit and hen ask for free shots tells me he is not a goat after all. We all know he’s better than that.

Maybe I’m only on this sub reddit after Nuggets games because this is said after almost every game, but it always ends with some form of “no one else notices”

It’s funny when you watch the replay he could’ve grabbed Murray’s miss and attempt a put back if he wasn’t too busy tryna get a foul.

Doesn’t help that when he’s not flopping he’s one of the most physical guys with the ball in the league. Probably gets away with a few offensive fouls each game

Many top players ‘tilt’ or ‘crash out’ differently and Jokic’s version is to flop egregiously and do that exasperated double hand gesture where he brings his hands close to his chest with his palms up and gets into the ref’s face. Generally he’s able to compose himself towards the end of the game but it’s an ugly scene during the game.

Off the top of my head here are some others -

Luka screams at the top of his lungs like a child at the refs, sometimes can’t hide his displeasure with teammates. He will flop but not because he’s crashing out. He also won’t get back on defense when he’s tilting.

LeBron visibly gives up, pouts, shoulders and head down, walks back on defense, walks off early, smacks both his legs on his side and yells at teammates for messing up on defense, and shakes his head at teammates.

Kobe would just ball hog and chuck dumb shots, totally blaming his teammates. It would create a really negative vibe on the court.

Draymond commits assault, really not much else to say there.

Part of the reason it is so jarring to me is because he’s so damn big and strrong and move big ass dudes around quite easily but then somebody gets close to him on a rebound and he’ll go flying into the stands as if you just hip checked a toddler or something

In previous years it wasn’t like this. This year he really has been trying to sell calls too much rather than just play, and I think it is hurting the nuggets overall and in the clutch at times this season. Still there is time to correct before the playoffs and he could just be trying to show refs how often he gets fouled so they have an idea when the playoffs come around. Then he will try to be more aggressive in trying to score rather than draw a foul. To be fair though shai won a championship flopping like a fish all season long last year so the league may have caused him to do this by the way he was being officiated and seeing shai’s success in manipulating the officials. But it really is less enjoyable as to when he is playing 1000% ethical basketball. F the refs!

Flopping is like self-promoting behavior at work, no one likes people talking themselves up and embellishing what they’ve done but it’s a necessary evil because without it you will get ignored and miss out on success

The worst of it is that he seems to feel the need to play like this because of the jersey tugs and arm hacks that are going on down low before and during him having the ball, see his arns after some games, like a god damn cat scratching post but regardless of that it looks dumb for a player of his size and stature pulling these stunts

The problem is the NBA doesn’t care. The refs reward it and the long lived (like 2 weeks) post game flopping penalties were forgotten about quicker than salads at a weight watchers luncheon.

They are worried about tanking because spots books do require genuine effort to win games so they can get equal action on both sides, but they have consistently turned a blind eye to a professional athlete in their prime looking like Fred Flinstone on ice the second another player breathes near them.

Flopping should be a recorded statistic that is done post game through video analysis.

Players might change if they are officially embarrassed. There could even be a flopper award at the end of the season.

It could also be treated like technical fouls. Once you reach the max allotted for the season, the player starts getting penalized
