These are two great young men but let’s be real athleticism peaks really early in the NBA and if they can’t figure out a catch and shoot wide open corner three they start to feel closer to a Ben Simmons that can’t dribble as well than a superstar.

I would look at Dyson Daniels contract. He was a little bit over a year younger in his third season, his 3p looked like it was improving and he got a 4/100M contract. I think he should get a bit more than that on average, but probably a bit less than Sengun. Maybe a 4/120M deal?

Guy is 6 foot 7 and he kinda plays the point guard. The team has very good offense and great defense when he’s on court. He leads a good team in minutes played. He just turned 23. I just don’t think you get many players in the NBA who tick all those boxes in terms of signs of good investment.

Imagine giving up on a player with this description. That would ALWAYS be cited if he’s successful in the next years and Rockets are not - which I don’t see as unlikely if that were to happen.

I guess he’s not a “superstar”, but if he reliably makes the team better and easy to build and add to, it may still be worth the contract. The team with him can get many more plays with rebounds, and play stronger defense and ball movement and limit turnovers, that wins games too. Scoring is very useful, but teams can get scorers too, not every scorer actually makes the team good.

Yes, it’s crazy. He’s a borderline top 20 player in the league now and he just turned 23. Around 40 players will be earning that kind of money over the next few years.

You’re just looking at shooting, but that’s not his strength. He’s one of the best defenders in the league, and he’s making great strides as a passer and playmaker. Even if his shot never improves, he’s easily worth the money.

Amen will look a lot better with an actual point guard who can feed him in positions where he can succeed. His year 1 minutes with FVV is just a teaser of what he can do. While the range is definitely concerning, I feel like defensively and with his hustle he’s worth a gamble for a max.

its a common misconception that all five guys on the court have to be able to shoot threes well in this era. You need spacing, but that doesn’t require five shooters at all times.
