CP3 when showing off the custom plaque that the Spurs gave him last season: “Crazy, ain’t it? This is dope. The Spurs gave this to me last year. It’s so dope ‘cause the Spurs gave me this last year, my best organization I played for.”
“Man I can’t believe I spent my entire career as a Spur, so wild man”
We definitely loved him for his short time here. Wish he stayed with us and got a final playoff run.
Shit, they might have even had a farewell tour for him lol
All time moment when CP3 and Wemby exploited the skills challenge and got yelled at on the bench by that NBA rep lmao
That was so funny, lol, they should have allowed it just for fun.
Everyone knows NBA stands for “No Fun League!”
NBA said: “You ain’t RedBull. Stop exploiting grey areas”
you’re thinking of a FIAT
It’s honestly my favorite All Star moment in the past decade.
The fact that Wemby confirmed it was his idea makes it more hilarious
“This has Chris Paul’s fingerprints all over it.” <– Admittedly when Kevin Harlan said that, and Reggie Miller then agreed, I think 100.000% of us nodded our heads.
Not exploited, followed the technicalities in the rulebook
And literally checked with them to make sure they would not be disqualified if they did it. And then they were disqualified lmao
Wemby and CP3 should run formula 1, they will do very well
One F1 car is about 2.5 Wembys long, I just had to look it up after your comment lol
This should’ve been the moment the NBA re-wrote the rules for the challenge instead of just leaving it in there… but we all know they’re dumb as hell.
Chris and Wemby are the true NBA Skills champions 2025 (I legit don’t even know who else participated lmao)
Best moment was then saying they asked ahead of time if they could do that and were told yes. Honestly if Chris threw the balls remotely toward the basket like Wemby they might have given it to them
And killed it somehow.
Is there a reason they didn’t bring him back? It seemed to work well. Was it because they didn’t have minutes for him?
He wanted to be with his family. Plus he would have got 0 playtime
He wanted too much for his time left.
Yeah, they barely had the right balance of minutes after trading for Fox, and doubly so after drafting Harper. It would have been great to have him back, but he ultimately wouldn’t have been thrilled with the lack of playing time.
If he only knew how worse it could get
Too many young guards
I wish he had a free agency and played with Tim. Would have been amazeballs
What if CP had stayed and the Spurs beat the OKC? Could have had much better chance at ring than at Clippers
We just gonna forget he was 2 wins away from a ring in PHX?
Yeah, because he lost and didn’t get the ring
okay but that iteration of PHX was not an available option for him last offseason
“And I won all those championships with Tim Duncan, definitely.”
And he never missed a game.
that’s so sick
The Spurs’ culture hits different, respect to them for the gesture.
It’s always the thing that makes me look sideways at Kwahi the most. Why would you sabotage that situation?
Yup. To me it makes me sure thay kawhi is kind of a money grabbing total dick
At the time, people were rather on kawhis side. He was quiet, and had won finals mvp. How TF could the spurs mess that up?
In hindsight, the spurs were right to stay out of that drama. And they look like they’ve got that core again that will make them contenders for a decade
The og Spurs fans knew all along that there had to be more to it than the Spurs fumbling the situation. The org mostly kept their mouth shut publicly and let things play out as they did. Behind the scenes there was much more going on.
bro is a demon just kept his mouth shut. puka shoulda taken notes
They could’ve bribed him without consequences like Ballmer, but luckily they didn’t because we got Wemby
he really hurt the team badly too with his betrayal, it took the spurs a decade and a “lottery” pick to get the ship righted again!
I have been FEASTING with Pablo’s reporting lol
Same, it’s fucking amazing. The fact that you have Wemby is also incredible. Hes such a thoughtful player.
Wemby is incredible, but the fact that their 4th best player would be my team’s franchise player can’t be overlooked. That Spurs core is disgusting. I love it.
It’s so nice to continue to feel validated that it was Kawhi (well I guess mostly his Uncle and “his camp”) that screwed over the Spurs and mishandled the situation. To this day, I still see LAC fans defending his actions and/or saying the Spurs royally messed up or even actively hurt Kawhi’s long-term health somehow (no proof of course). I literally wasted my time getting into an argument recently with a LAC fan on here the other day lol.
Perfect comment regarding Pablo’s reporting. So many wonderful “I fucking KNEW it” moments.
Uncle Dennis
Yes, but also Kwahi is his own man, you tell tell your Uncle to fuck off
He had aspirations
Kawhi wants what Kawhi wants, he’s the only NBA player who left the defending champions as the team’s best player as well.
That Raptors team was on a 60 wins pace without him in those 2 seasons, I’m not saying back to back is guaranteed, but it’s probably one of the best supporting cast ever.
Well if recent reporting is to be believed he was already getting paid by the clippers.
He clearly values things more than winning games.
The environment, for example. If only we could all reduce our carbon footprint like he does…
Because the clippers were paying him to sabotage it.
i put like 75% of the blame on uncle dennis, there’s a track record of him wanting basically no show jobs at every organization kawhi has gone
10% on kawhi wanting to go home to LA
and 15% on kawhi just not being able to be an adult and communicate with the organization and letting uncle dennis run his life
That video where he gets said gift from Mitch and the team is awesome. I’m glad the spurs were his last team
A fitting end to a wonderful career
That’s why when the Clippers sent him home I just thought “yeah, I get it…” It seems like he has a personality where he can be a good mentor when it’s a short stint with a young team, but when he’s with his peers it comes across as patronizing and just wears people down.
“I’ve been rich, I’ve been poor, I’ve been fat, I’ve been thin.. the Clippers have always sucked” - Sir Charles
“Victoria is definitely a secret down there… they’ve got some big ol’ women in San Antonio. That’s a gold mine for Weight Watchers. They be eatin’ them churros.” - Sir Charles. The guy is insanely hilarious and quotable.
“Speaking of coming”
“When a guy’s banging you,…”
Fatphobia from an obese guy, like rfk jr talking about health
The shade is a lunar eclipse lmao
Half his Clippers tenure was under Donald Sterling, so this was probably true even before recent events.
Whenever I feel bad for an organization like the Hornets I remember, I’d rather be the hornets with dope uniforms than a streetlights fan.
“Then there’s this, my walking papers. That’s what the Clippers gave me.”
Isn’t it more just an obvious fact than shade?
If CP3 was drafted/traded to a decent franchise in the first half of his career, he’d be viewed way more favourably.
No shade to New Orleans, at least their fans respect CP3 for what he did after all these years.
Clippers the ultimate poverty franchise, fans n all
They had decent squads in New Orleans but they ran into the spurs every time lol. Different levels.
Fuck you Janero pargo
That series was a war. Whoever won had no chance against a fresh lakers squad.
What did he do to you? Lol
He lost us the game 7 to yall in 07. We would have beaten the lakers for sure in the finals before facing the new look Celtics
You lost to the spurs but would have beaten the lakers for sure?
We matched up with them better than the spurs
All I remember from that series was the game where Tony and Ginobili went for 31 each and on one of the plays an announcer saying “Parker blows by Pargo!” I dont know why its so ingrained into my brain.
Update: I went through the old NBA play off highlight videos and found the one from the game!
https://youtu.be/1IpqvuU9w94?si=PNjPedLjd9MF3mrf
The college and NOLA version of CP3 was a very likeable player. When he got to the clippers and it became this weird flopping and whining thing that’s when I turned to a hater. They shoulda just balled out with that talent instead of relying on flops and complaining so much.
Nah he did that in New Orleans too. I hated him. Now I feel bad for him.
…..he wasn’t likable at Wake Forest, at all.
The two word rebuttal to this post is “Basketball Reasons”
His 08-09 season was MVP worthy. Dude was working magic all year.
Rip Lob City
Imagine if the Lakers trade had gone through. We could have had a Kobe and CP3 backcourt!
Idk plenty of shade to New Orleans for dreadful roster building and being mad the guy wanted out.
Clippers put an actual team around him and he just kept getting hurt with Blake.
Can’t hate on the Spurs, tbh.
I wish we could say the same about yall 😂
One sided beef. I don’t really see Lakers fans hating on this generation of Spurs players. Every team has there own “Fuck The Lakers” chant.
2K has named a period the “Kobe era” while it clearly should have been Kobe & Duncan, that lack of respect/over popularity of Kobe makes it easy to still hate on the Lakers for me
Then you beefing with 2K
and the NBA
It’s because Duncan wasn’t flashy compared to Kobe. It’s objectively easier to market Kobe. But I do agree people need to show Duncan more respect.
Because the Lakers are objectively the bad guys
Yeah even with our rivalry, I still have always respected the Spurs heavily, aside from Bruce Bowen
I genuinely just hate the Lakers with a burning passion (and it was that way long before the Luka trade).
Oh Indeed…
Duh. They’re the Lakers
Don’t worry older lakers fans hate the spurs still lol
Right like screw the spurs
Its the natural order
There’s about 0.4 seconds of my memory that needs to be erased before I can even think about liking the lakers again.
There’s only one team we think about (and it’s not the Spurs). I respect the franchise, though.
Clippers?
Beantown Celtics
Lmao i didn’t realize this would be taken seriously.
I got baited lol
Lakers aren’t the anti-Christ brother but the rivalry is still there
teenage me will never forgive Derek Fisher and his heartbreaking corner three to put a dagger in Timmy’s threepeat
Tim Donaghy would agree, unfortunately.
Suns fans will forever hate the Spurs
I do admit they were the better team until we had them in 07. Donaghy explicitly said the refs were out for us on top of Stern suspending Amare and Boris for the hate crime of standing up and walking a few feet.
Sure I can
Watch me
KD’s Burner: “Chris Paul doesn’t know sh*t.”
“Dime Dropper Cocaine Bear!”
~ getoffmydickerson
Following this lol
😂😂😂 this is funny and sad simultaneously
Fr, this is giving “Chris Paul hits the deep 3 to cut the lead to 42” but like for this career.
put some respect on him. he’s a legend for your organization
Alongside Hawks Melo, Hoodie Melo and Ben Simmons Shooting 3s in an Empty Gym
wait I don’t get it can you explain
Even if the fallout didn’t happen with the clippers this would be true. Spurs are one of the best organizations in all of sports and the Clippers are a Browns,Jets tier bottom feeder.
I don’t know. The Clippers were willing to put a ton of resources behind tampering with Kawhi. That’s organizational commitment.
A better organization would have used those resources to tamper with a less useless superstar.
Kawhi is having a REALLY good year… so far.
That’s great for him that he is finally playing basketball like he is paid max money to do. Maybe if he tries really hard they can keep that play in spot.
He’s got like..two weeks before he’s out for the season.
Calling Kawhi useless is insane
I get he is playing this year and injuries happen but how useful are you when you don’t play and are on the bench for vast periods of a season
Yeah, CP3 has a good relationship with Golden State, OKC, and the Suns. I don’t think this was a slight to them - I think the Spurs organization simply is the best in the league. Pop is the GOAT.
Thank you for not including the Cardinals with the Browns and Jets. Being forgotten as a member of the bottom feeder tier is our Super Bowl
You know what’s funny you guys definitely are in that tier but that one SB run and Larry Fitzgerald being the class act he was has been hard carrying my perception of the cardinals.
We’re lucky to have had Larry. He is one of the few universally liked athletes out there. I’ve had the chance to meet him a handful of times actually and he’s every bit of the stand up guy that you think he is
East Coast Bias strikes in our favor!
The spurs are a top-notch organization, so im not surprised
Man I used to hate CP3 so much but have lots of respect for him now after he played for us. Will forever be grateful in how he mentored Stephon Castle
Him becoming a genuine Castle fan and him making that comment last year where he essentially said something along the lines of, everyone needs to stop talking about how these guys might start winning one day. They’re ready win, now. They’re good enough to win now they just have to believe. Definitely made me like him a ton. Wish he could have stuck around a bit longer, but I’m super grateful for what he brought to the team
After seeing how the clippers did him dirty I wish he had just did his farewell tour here. Castle and Wemby were very lucky to have him as a vet and he could have done the same with Harper. Mitch Johnson respected him as an equal on court coach and could have helped with our 3rd quarter collapses and playing down to the other teams early in the season.
I get it though, he wanted to start, wanted to be around family, hopefully when he’s ready to come back to basketball we’re on the short list of teams he wants to coach for.
I still hate him. Dirty player
How can he be dirty if he’s super washed
Spurs are a first class org
Does that feel good Spurs or does it feel like he’s trying to make a different ex jealous?
Nah, it feels good. Everything between the Spurs and CP3 felt surprisingly honest and wholesome. It was a strange Mirror Universe, but it worked very well.
Everything against CP3 felt earned as well, that fucker was annoying in NOLA and LAC. Love that competitive bastard.
There are some franchise, where their culture can handle someone like Chris Paul. He’s blunt, sincere, rough but all about winning. Ego is not encouraged, no matter how good you are. Spurs, and OKC are that.
And there are franchise who aren’t that. They wanna win too, but they only want to win in a certain way.
the whole CP3 on the spurs experience was so clean from start to finish.
dude showed up for one year, played all 82 games, did well, taught our young guys and left. no drama, no problems, no nothing
so definitely feels good lol
Yep. When some team or players said Chris Paul is nasty and hard to deal with, I tend to believe it speaks more about the, I really think it speak more about that said players and teams than Chris Paul himself.
Kinda wish we picked him up for the rest of the season out of respect
Id want to have him lighting a fire under the ass of our stars everygame, in the lockerroom, on the bench, and in practice.
His only downside is that sometimes a loud voice hurts chemistry. But he wants to win, its not like KD toxicity
Not necessarily a Spurs fan, but I really liked his year with them. His shenanigans with Wemby and his leadership style fitting so well with the Spurs (right up their alley, tbh) made for a fun time. I know he wanted to end it back home, where he made his name and to be with his family, but I wish he’d stayed. Could’ve retired on a high note.
A bit much but all good. There was genuine respect and appreciation on both side of the relationship.
Nah he was amazing for us
I’d rather have him than Olynyk or Biyombo this year tbh
Ah yes, our 3rd string center CP3 hahaha
I have more faith in him guarding Sengun than the other 2
Nah, feels great. He did an awesome job mentoring our younger players and there was zero drama with him while he was here. It was an awesome moment when the team presented him with this.
this is not even shade, it’s just stating facts. the only other org that probably in contention with that for him is probably OKC.
And tbf, we’re Sam Presti’s evolution of the Spurs culture. A lot of people don’t know/forget that Sam was at SAS for 8 years and was the biggest advocate for the Spurs drafting Tony Parker.
Or perhaps the Warriors, but then the laughing CP3/Steve Kerr meme wouldn’t be canon.
That is pretty sick
I rememeber when he got this during the live thread. Everyone thought it was sick too. So I believe Chris when he said this
Oh for sure. It’s the thought they put into it, like David Ortiz getting that smashed up phone from the Orioles l.
That one year with us erased all the bad memories, specially that floater over duncan 🥲.
That was probably the all-time peak franchise moment for the Clippers though.
Hornets Chris Paul was my MySpace background. I bet he removed Ty Lue from his top friends
Least surprising thing from the Spurs organization. The least they can do for CP3 now they can benefit from what he thought them in his short time with the team. Just like OKC.
Who is the guy in red touching tf out of it? He sucks lol
A shitty streamer
For those of you confused by the ‘best organisation I played for’ comment, despite his legendary stint in Washington, Paul never actually played a game for the franchise!
Should’ve just retired after that season…
Shows you how classy the Spurs as an organization is. Even pulling up the names of players he gave most assists to in order.
With that being said, I am still bitter at Kawhi and Uncle Dennis on how they acted his last year there.
I just find it so telling that basically every player who has been with the Spurs leaves with a ton of respect for the organization and love for the city except for Kawhi. Guy is consistently a problem yet convinced the NBA world that we were the bad guys. Still hate him for it. Also obligatory fuck Uncle Denis.
People that openly hate the spurs: dennis rodman, kawhi, Stephen jackson.
You tell me, are the spurs the problem here, or is it the players who are well known locker room headaches here
I’ll never understand why people ignored the Spurs when it comes to free agency. I find it hard to believe that KD/LeBron could not have won a title there during their Free Agency eras.
We’re still a “small market team” somehow, which I still don’t get because like damn man, we got 5 championships, the winningest coach of all time, an incredible front office and a culture that so many players speak highly of, and now we got Wemby the world-beater saying “I’m a Spurs lifer, let’s make that Championship dynasty happen again”.
I guess in fairness that’s how we got De’Aaron Fox coming here for a relatively small amount of assets, although he’s on a max contract now so he’s not hurting for anything.
We’re still a “small market team” somehow
Small market doesn’t have anything to do with accomplishments. It’s about the TV market size, and SA is 24th out of 28 teams. The only smaller markets are Milwaukee, Oklahoma City, New Orleans, and Memphis. If you want to go by metro population size, SA is 21st out of 30. So, still small market.
Chris deserves to get this hate off. Good for him.
Clippers man what yall doing
Spurs are such a classy organization. Can’t believe how classless Clippers are.
He should have stayed with them.
i mean this is the league where the players openly talk about how half the guys dont care about anything but the lifestyle and money, and yet people think when players don’t like Chris Paul its purely because hes a big meanie and the organization are the victims
Shoulda stayed another year with us CP3 (on vet min). Also assisting Peja Stojakovic and Devin Booker seems wild to me
New Orleans legend Peja Stojakovic
I always begrudgingly respected CP3 but since his short time with the Warriors OF ALL PLACES I’ve really come to like him. Fuck the Clips for doing him dirty in his retirement year
Bro why is this sounding like the crying wojak meme.
what a classy org
Going on I’m pissed at the Clippers world tour.
“Hornets were great too. And the Suns. Thunder. Rockets. Warriors. Didn’t see the floor for Washington, but them too. Yep. All those ones. Not any other ones.”
Fuck the clippers
so sick
As an OKC fan I’m mildly offended but when he was here originally he was a Hornet and that franchise was ass soup and now the Pels are ass soup.
I am sure Chris has a great time at OKC. And frankly, Presti is building OKC’s own organizational culture and he learn it from the Spurs. I think it speaks volume that he has both a great time in these two orgs.
Don’t be. CP3 loves OKC and was a huge part of this current team’s development.
San Antonio is a well-oiled machine that has been doing what we’re doing now - but for the past 2, almost 3 decades. lol
This is like when Aaron Rodgers said how he was privileged to play for two great organizations while completely throwing shade at the Jets lmao.
If only he joined earlier
if I was in chris paul’s position I would absolutely be this petty
This shouldn’t shock anyone. Look at what they did for Dirk’s last game in San Antonio. Spurs are the best of the best.
This is the moment they gave it to him, it was a great speech and you can see Chris getting emotional. When he played for the spurs, he started every game all 80+ games.
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/DvXlBhxLRas
I can see Chris Paul helping our young PGs as an Assistant Coach! Also, maybe he can design plays for us that utilize our guards. Help us get a ring CP3!
That’s super nice. I used to hate CP3 but when he played for us I was happy for what he brought to the team.
Man deserves it, he played all 82 games.
The spurs: small tokens of appreciation really go a long way. In the long run spending a grand or two is trivial but players remember it and it reflects well on us. What do you think about appreciating your players clippers?
Clippers: she started sucking me in the car, it feels good. I like it when she makes me feel good and it feels good for her to make me feel good…
The spurs: uhhh the question was if you think appreciating your players reflects well on the organization.
Fuck it let’s get him on the staff, he’s clearly done great things to our young guys
Don’t know how but his younger star teammates love him (maybe cuz they’re looking for some balance when they first start?)
The clippers didn’t seem like a culture fit this time around cuz they’re on the older side and got their own things
I’ll have you know that the Wizards treated him great for the 18 days he was on the team.
