Jaylen Brown: “Continue to speak out, theres a lot of stuff going on in the world beyond basketball, don’t be afraid.”
Maybe the r/NBA mods should take this to heart after all the deleting they did today.
the reddit admins are the bosses… the mods obey them at their mercy
I’m employed, can someone summarize this for me?
“I’m employed” is such a funny way to ask for a recap
[removed]
LeBron-and I say this lovingly- has been cosplaying as an activist for quite some time. Im not an activist either, but I they are in my orbit.
One thing activist don’t do is get really quiet when it’s unsafe or unpopular to speak out. Ever since the admin changed AND he started angling for ownership of a team, he’s been on mute.
The book thing irked me. I dunno, it’s like bringing The Art of War to the coffee shop and pretending to pour over it.
Anyways, Vince Staples was right, stop listening to entertainers.
Yeah I am a big LeBron the basketball player fan, but his so called “activism” has only been for stuff related for him and he always has been watching his bag and PR.
Also MJ grabbing that kid’s ass at the Daytona 500
Earlier a video was posted showing Michael Jordan inappropriately touching a young boy, mods are wiping any evidence of it
You’d think they’d get to it before it had like 30k upvotes
After finding out Ghislaine Maxwell was a moderator on many major subs (and was in fact the first Redditor to reach a million karma) I’m convinced all of the big time abusers are controlling the narrative. Probably took a while for the handlers to reach out and get it taken down.
This cannot be real lol no way
Google “Maxwellhill reddit” and prepare for another rabbit hole.
I’m personally not a big conspiracy person but this one is pretty insane. Idk if it’s still true, but for awhile, if you tried to tag that username on reddit, it would nuke the comment.
The crazy thing is that the worldnews sub has gotten significantly worse since she left. How terrible of a mod do you have to be where Ghislaine Maxwell was significantly less authoritarian that you.
Just full on genocide denial on a default subreddit.
it’s unfortunately true.
I feel like I’ve been saying this on repeat every day for the past few years.
one of the most influential accounts of all time
Power moderator /u/maxwellhill stopped posting after a decade plus the day Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested. Hasn’t posted anything since.
/u/maxwellhill is in the files. Someone submitted their account history as a tip to the FBI. It was deemed credible enough for further investigation.
Mods have spoken up about it and have said the user’s messaged them since then and has denied it. Would be a great time to speak up publicly!
Well they’re doing a shit job. I saw it on like 6 different subs this morning, some of which I don’t even follow
And they also just deleted the thread about Kyrie wearing the PRESS shirt in solidarity with the hundreds of journalists that Israel murdered.
Holy, the mods are fucking wack
All the post about Kd’s burner have also been deleted by Reddit (not local mods). Clearly Kd’s legal team is giving Reddit orders.
Welcome to all of Reddit. Internet Police Mods are shameless. Not even talking about this sub but they literally can’t be objective and love silencing people
Usually cause none of them can talk in real life, internet police officers so you know they corrupt. The Admins some shameless dudes nowadays. Have some pride Donkeys, Free Speech should be allowed. The old Reddit been gone for years.
Some mods of a space subreddit took down a photo from a real life astronaut bc his picture of a craft was “too blurry” 😭
You… you think they get paid?
The r/nfl mods definitely get paid because the actual league NFL has an account on there and controls the posts. I’m pretty sure most mods on r/nfl are interns that work at the league office.
Idk how r/nba works but wouldn’t be surprised if it was something similar.
I hope they do bc the amount of shilling and bending the knee they carry out is just sad if it’s free
Well we know a lot of our taxes going into it, I’ll tell you that
That’s what makes them so pathetic. They ain’t getting paid for this shit.
yup, I’ve got two posts just not appearing when replying to people to explain with sources and quotes how Israel is an apartheid state and how Lebron’s “heard nothing but good things about Israel” is an insane thing to say.
What was deleted?
Better question is what hasn’t been deleted.
No but fr. I missed everything. Was someone implicated?
Deni Avdija’s statline on the all star game basically. he performed poorly there and the mods nuked posts about them
MJ groping a kid. That’s the one I know of
The mods here are such cowards
What do you mean? The mods here are heros. You don’t remember them blacking out the sub for everyone but themselves so they could hang on to their pathetic little amount of power. So brave of them.
What was deleted???
Jordan touching a kid’s ass multiple times on purpose
They also use shadow bans. Disgusting. Just a corrupt hegemony running wild.
lmao real
LeBron is worth 1 billion and he still got no balls to not be all PC. It’s laughable
You don’t get 1 billion by being a good person
Americans and NBA fans have now realized what we in Serbia realized a long time ago: Athletes are not your role models, in fact quite the opposite. Not a single basketball player supported our riots against the government. They didn’t even voice it, let alone, God forbid, protest themselves. Football players are even worse in this regard as they’re actually in bed with the corrupt officials. Sad times in the world. One longs for the liles of Muhammed Ali or Maradona
^ this.
professional athletes are just people, and a wealthy professional athlete is going to act like any other wealthy person. they’re going to try to accumulate more and feel like they ‘earned it,’ rather than realizing that an athlete earning more than a doctor is obscene.
a lot of these athletes also have stunted formal educations, and then they’re pushed out into the world with vast resources without a mental or moral framework to make sense of it. to me, it’s surprising that not more of them end up very badly.
a lot of these athletes also have stunted formal educations
This only scratches the surface, not only are they attending less schooling overall, the schooling they are attending, their primary focus is on athletics and education is secondary.
vast resources without a mental or moral framework to make sense of it.
this is the part that is worrisome to me, I have no issue with someone NOT taking a hard stance on something, thats just staying away. However, advertising impacts a ton of people, and the impact of Lebron James saying he loves gambling and alcohol during his own game’s commercial breaks, is not a small one.
As much as I’d love to just say we shouldn’t look to athletes for moral guidance, kids are gonna adore them regardless, and thats not some thing limited to Serbia, or the USA or wherever, thats simply a human thing.
I fear, that without guardrails put in place, the NBA quite literally is becoming a net bad for society at large, it is heavily contributing to the moral decline by beyond embracing the sports betting era, but actively advancing it.
Yes, because had they been studying law or gotten an MBA they would’ve been much better off.
Also it’s silly how you seem to be fine with the gambling and alcohol companies, but blame the NBA because some of their players advertise those products. It’s the NBA that’s the net negative, not the businesses who produce the products and commission the advertising.
I’m sorry this is nonsense. Not only does the “stunted formal education” thing sound like a dogwhistle, but the people who are actually doing all the shitty things have formal educations up the wazoo.
As dumb and shitty as a lot of people in the Trump admin are, they have law degrees, MBAs, post-graduate degrees, etc.
It’s all fucked up and same in Turkey. Sports (aka money) is always hand-in-hand with the politicians.
Diego was amazing, man, I miss him every day. He could be blunt, and some times flat out wrong, but he was always honest and never hid when he had the opportunity to point out injustices when he saw them.
We Palestinians, especially in Palestine, would rather have the people with us than the celebrities anyway. That’s what matters. As long as the people of the world are with us, liberation is near.
I’m not trying to be that guy but I’d love to know how liberation is near. Don’t get me wrong I’m all for supporting a Palestinian country but Israel is a nuclear nation with very powerful allies
Ya it won’t happen
Wait, you are saying Maradona was a good person??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Do any research on him lmao
Didn’t Nole tho show support and in turn was, not surprisingly, immediately vilified by the regime? But yeah, the average athlete will look after their money and only fight for causes when it’s PR safe, not for what’s right.
so you guys don’t worship Djokovic?
Charles Barkley was one of the first to go hard on this, got a lot of flack for it to
True. Always gotta sell out. I could never do it. I’d never sleep
gotta sell out, got to invest in sketch companies (look at steph and kd), gotta understand pay your workers, hell even just having 1 billion dollars when thousands of people die from poverty a day is sickening.
Bro, KD and Steph not just investing in sketch companies, they been investing in the Frontline Zionist tech companies responsible for creating the infrastructure to carry out a genocide.
Facial recognition drones and logistical software used by the IDF. Worst of the worse
Ding ding ding!! Someone finally said it
What about George Lucas
No good billionaires
I feel like LeBron could have gotten a billion without supporting authoritarianism. Sure, you can say a good person would give away a large chunk of what he’s earned, but he didn’t earn it in a particularly unethical way.
he is only here to liberate his wallet
True but give me a break. He’s set for life with investments.
He’s greedy and a notoriously cheap bastard (his own words btw and even his bestfriends like DWade, Mav Carter, Rich Paul etc have all been direct quoted for saying the same thing about him).
So no, there’s never gonna be money that’ll be enough for him to actually have a fucking spine.
This makes so little sense to me it’s crazy. I am extremely cheap and it doesn’t come hand in and with wanted absurd amounts of money because there is nothing to spend it on?! Ik ur right and he wants insane amounts but like what’s even the points?
Be specific about which “them” you are talking about. Don’t be cowardly and allow space for people to twist what you are saying.
In case I haven’t made myself clear, if he means Israel, that checks, if he means “Jewish people” this is just antisemitism trying to slide by in the midst of criticism against Israel.
Zionists and Israel
Free Palestine is PC now
it’s politically correct in the literal sense, as in the objectively correct take, but it’s not good for business lol
There really isn’t any politics good for business but Free Palestine is much more en vogue than the opposite lol
“en vogue” is very vague. You can look cynically at like, an influencer saying free Palestine for a couple clicks. For a guy like LeBron that has hundreds of millions in various investments and gotta stay at peace with politicians and bigtime businessmen, it’s a dangerous thing to say.
It’s not vague lol, it’s a very popular political mantra amongst younger demographics. Lebron is trying to stay neutral but if you’re insisting he has to take a strong political stance, he’d be better off taking this one. Free palestine hasn’t been counterculture for a decade now. You have celebrities saying it at every award show and they largely get positive press from it
culture and power are intertwined but not equivalent. There’s a reason it’s a popular mantra but still nothing changes. Of course it would be bad for LeBron to take a strong pro-Israel stance but staying neutral is important for him. People talk about him potentially becoming a franchise owner in the future, it’s not the same game as celebrities on award shows. Most owners are loud and proud Republican donors. This is where real power is
Or maybe stop looking to celebrities to confirm your political beliefs? Your edgy comments on Reddit aren’t changing the world either lol
Those millions and billions have strings attached.
I mean Israel is doing exactly what US elites want it to
You have it reversed tbh
That would be true except for the stranglehold AIPAC has on congress and by extension the US taxpayer
The US could stop funding Israel tomorrow and they would be fucked. I’m tired of the idea that Israel “controls” the US.
Not what they said.
It’s the opposite. The US uses Israel as its imperial outpost to protect its interests in the region.
Read The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy book by John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt.
Wow
Respect athletes for what they do on the court, that’s about it. They should never ever be role models for how life is conducted off the court.
LeBron’s answer was just the average PR answer tbh, don’t know why people are mad about it.
What makes the outrage feel so dumb is that he was specifically asked about Israeli fans, and his answer was directed at those fans. That context matters. Yeah, he briefly mentioned Israel toward the end but he’s not a polished politician, he was answering a question on the fly. But Reddit loves to dissect every single word like it’s a Supreme Court ruling, just waiting to find something to outrage about. Sometimes a response is just a response, not a manifesto.
It’s an absolute nothing statement, he was very obviously talking about visiting Israel but people are taking it like he’s close personal friends with Benjamin Netanyahu.
I get being annoyed he didn’t take the opportunity to speak up but it the fact so many people are taking it as an actual endorsement of the Israeli government is actually unhinged.
“I heard great things about 1940s germany, shout out to my fans there, I can’t wait to visit”
This would be true if its the first time lebron has spoken on isreal but its not. On 2023 he posted a story on instagram, in 2024 he tweeted in support of isreal. So hes mentioned isreal 3 times with no mention on palestine, its clear what side lebron is on.
He’s never tweeted out support for Israel besides the 2023 post, and I honestly don’t think he knew a thing about the conflict besides Hamas attacking Israel
Bc it’s LeBron.
Yet Spike Lee comes to both ASG nights with a shoulder bag strap in the colors of Palestine
Reddit loves protecting zionists. I just got banned from a sub of a show for pointing out its lead actor is a raging zionist.
Israel is central to American prosperity in many ways that people will not admit to.
Admitting to it would mean admitting that slaughtering people in the levant on a regular basis is a fair price to pay for American comforts.
I’m just explaining basic facts. Would you like me to elaborate further?
“Don’t be afraid” while making the vaguest statement ever. This shows that there is every reason to be afraid, especially when you have a lot to lose on the line
Exactly lol, like fair enough, maybe he means it, maybe he even speaks out and I just don’t see it. But like what is he even against here? Genocides, ICE, corruption, hunger in Africa, poverty, climate change? It’s like the girls saying they want world peace in beauty shows or whatever
If he says to speak out do we really expect him to list out everything then and there?
He’s pretty active politically and has criticized the administration on plenty of things. Much more than other players.
He’s on the players association which may not seem like much but its an imperative role to protect against unfair leverage against owners. He’s active in the community and does a lot youth / education initiatives.
He’s not afraid he just doesn’t care.
Uhh but he has spoken out in the past. Just a few weeks ago he commented on ICE and whatnot. Did people need him to say something here too? It seems kind of silly to not allow him to be specific at times and more general at other times. Especially cause the context here is legit being asked, “what’s your message on using your voice to the next generation?”, so obviously he’s not going to say, “you have to speak out about these specific things” lol
He also spoke a lot about the Eps**** files and how the government isn’t doing anything about it recently
You can’t expect people on Reddit to go much further the reading the title of the post. Most people in the comments probably didn’t even watch the video
Shoes shouldn’t be on inside the house 🗣️
I’m not touching that, way too political
Mods! MODS!!!
Weird how all your post history is just foot fetish subs. Nice try
This sub is so strange.
I truly believe Reddit in general has become so so strange
There’s no way half these comments are genuine
Oh reddit and basically all other platforms are just a bot cesspool now. I can’t believe people still are under this illusion that every comment they see online is a real person. It’s literally at least 80% bots now, but personally I think it’s above 90%. i mean ffs, just look at how many comments are clearly just trying to start political arguments out of nowhere. Astroturfing is the number one way we are manipulated and sowing division is the goal, and unfortunately it works incredibly well. Anyone that thinks this sounds crazy or conspiratorial is simply just completely fucking blind to the way this fucked up world we live in actually operates
lol “above 90%”
Sure bro
Tbf most people in here sound like bots to begin with
The worst part is is that these comments are popping up in subreddits they have no business being in. It’s getting so hard not to read the same bullshit over and over even in sports subreddits. One of my favorite subs, I got banned from just for making the comment, please don’t bring politics here.
I genuinely think nationalism/religion etc is a useful tool for elites to keep us peasants distracted.
The whole Epstein thing has reaffirmed what I’ve believed for a while. We’re all still pawns on a chessboard.
What if this comment was made by a bot to convince us that Reddit is mostly bots 😭
Funny how you both made that post saying nothing and left… THAT is strange
Which ones? What is strange about being anti-israel or anti-genocide?
Curious as to why you both think like that
In what way
What annoys me the most is these motherfuckers with their platforms and their multimillions and millions tell everyone else to do something whereas they all have the means and the funds.
NBA star Jaylen Brown has established several major initiatives focused on closing the racial wealth gap, advancing STEM education, and fostering economic empowerment in underserved communities.
His efforts are largely channeled through his 7uice Foundation and the more recently launched Boston XChange.
Key Initiatives
Launched in August 2024, the Boston XChange is a nonprofit enterprise with the ambitious goal of generating $5 billion in generational wealth for historically marginalized communities.
The Model: It operates as a “business incubator and accelerator” for creators and entrepreneurs in fields like design, arts, media, and technology.
Support: In partnership with the JLH Social Impact Fund (founded by teammates Jrue and Lauren Holiday), the program provides grants of up to \(100,000, plus workspaces and business coaching valued at over \)150,000.
Expansion: In February 2025, Brown expanded this model by launching OaklandXChange in his “second home” of Oakland, California.
Brown’s primary youth-focused organization, the 7uice Foundation, aims to bridge the “opportunity gap” for students in under-resourced neighborhoods.
MIT Collaboration: Through a partnership with the MIT Media Lab, Brown established the Bridge Program, a multi-day STEM camp for 8th–12th grade students.
Curriculum: Students receive hands-on experience in high-tech fields like AI, robotics, synthetic biology, and space exploration, often learning directly from MIT professors and NASA astronauts.
7uice Educational Fair: In early 2026, the foundation hosted a large-scale fair in Boston for over 350 students, featuring chess tournaments and workshops with partners like Google and NASA.
“Black Wall Street” Vision: Brown has frequently voiced his intent to recreate a modern “Black Wall Street” in Boston to address the city’s significant racial wealth disparity.
Civic Engagement: He is a vocal advocate for social justice, famously leading a 15-hour drive to Atlanta in 2020 to organize peaceful protests.
Public Projects: He has supported local infrastructure, such as the renovation of basketball courts in Dorchester to provide safe community spaces.

They don’t deserve this thoughtful, detailed response. If they actually cared, they’d do a quick google search before spouting nonsense.
LMAO, this is fucking AI. “thoughtful”
Brother this is ai please tell me you recognize that
Yeah, let’s just ignore the fact that jaylen brown demonstrably puts his money where his mouth is because the comment that pointed it out used AI to compile a list.
Yeah, these people are dumb enough to conflate the wealth of someone like Brown to someone like bezos. Their hate is disingenuous or just willfully ignorant.
It will always be complicated.
They’re in America exercising their first amendment right of free speech. So expressing their views could be seen as their American duty.
But at the same time, they have a social responsibility to do it with thought and care. They have a huge audience and saying wild shit or being ill informed can be problematic. Look at Kyrie Irving. He was supposed to be one of the smarter NBA players and he’s used his platform to voice some of the dumbest takes in NBA history.
Some players don’t want to invite that extra pressure back on them, so they choose to remain silent and that’s also their right.
Look at Kyrie Irving. He was supposed to be one of the smarter NBA players
Guy said the earth was flat.
Who thinks he’s one of the smarter NBA players?
And how do you know they arent doing anything?
They clearly dont know. Jaylen has done a lot.
He maybe a millionaire but the guys backing and profiting of these problems are billionaires. It’s like asking a college player to beat an nba player. There’s levels.
Thats the problem. Too many reins.
Well, most (if not all) change starts because of the people
Aside from the fact that he has done a fair bit.
The masses will always have more power than one rich guy if they actually get their finger out their ass and mobilize
LeBron stammered like a kid who didn’t do his book report when a reporter asked him about the Malcolm X book in his hands. He’s fake, he’s always been fake. His persona is phony and inflated by PR, media. Now LeBron chooses to side with a genocidal entity.
What a POS, truly.
[deleted]
Absolutely, and Malcolm X talked about how it’s a scam for athletes/celebrities to be propped up as activists in the black community.
The right wing’s greatest weapon is convincing people that people like LeBron and Taylor swift are activists
LeBron’s been a sell out, used to be my fave nba player but I can’t support sell outs. I respect what LeBron’s done for basketball but I can’t deal with the hypocrisy
Yep if he actually understood anything about Malcolm he never would’ve said that about Israel. “Nothing but good things” Give me a break. Is he really that oblivious? Or more than likely his bosses told him to say something nice.
He’s right but the bots gonna be all over this thread muddying the waters.
And yet he himself is making no statement on anything substantial.
He’s spoken out on issues several times. How can you even get mad at a statement like this?
Yah like Mj Touching kids
And the KD files.
Weird day in basketball world.
This was a bad look optic wise for the nba product , especially sad when this all star game was really god to watch. LeBron James comments to Micheal Jordan inappropriately grasping a child to kd not only his drone investment but his tweets that really picture him terribly as a teammate.
Today was the best day ever for /r/NBA. People already forgot that an all-star game happened today.
LOL the all star game was really good this year(the game not the weekend). But besides that damn last 20hrs really brought a lot of negative attention on the nba product.
These athletes used to be so outspoken about BLM and anti trump. I guess money is better than your own moral.
MJ caught in 4K you can’t suppress it
Jordan or Jackson?
“Don’t matter to me they both jam”
Jordan
So a local news station ran a story about Trump and what happened on Lake Michigan. I clicked the link which took to the DOJ website and that piece of evidence is gone. The sick and depraved shit is being removed by the DOJ that is just absolutely crazy.
Classic Reddit getting mad at a player for speaking out but not in “correct way”
Anyone know what’s going on in Sudan?
the UAE-backed rapid support force (RSF), a sudanese arab-supremacist military, are currently carrying out a genocide against non-arab sudanese people in darfur. this includes the intentional causing of a famine.
the RSF were formerly run by the Sudanese government. after the government was overthrown the RSF seized power. most first world nations including the US and China are complicit in this genocide, through their dealings with the UAE, the main force bankrolling and arming the RSF.
Good explainer but I was being sarcastic because no one in this sub or in NBA media wants to talk about it because Emirates is the sponsor of the NBA Cup
There it is. Someone actually talked about Sudan. I swear this country picks and choose what they care about. They talking about genocide but they won’t look up or talk about Sudan. I hate the selective outrage.
https://youtu.be/h4hP6nOB1dc?si=SLICVm_8Hj8KsPqy
I respect this sentiment but I think I’d like Jaylen to use his platform in a more direct way, and take a more active stand on specific issues.
Free Palestine?
Every time I see him speak out it’s the most he says almost noting. People need to stop praising for his milk toast statement.
This guy gets so much praise for absolutely nothing all the time
Milk toast
Says nothing. That’s what people who lack any idea of what’s going on around them say. If you’re slow just say so.
can you provide an example of a player that has spoken up more than him? on a regular basis?
Maybe the players themselves should stop being afraid then. I haven’t seen anybody talking around the league.
I mean, he’s not wrong
Gotta love all the crying because it turns out people don’t view the israel palestine conflict in the sameone sided light they do.
Wrongfully calling it a conflict and not a genocide is telling
Title of the post reads like he is insinuating something very specific but he’s almost speaking in all platitudes and barely even saying anything.
KD, Steph, Lebron and Dray have left the chat
