[Highlight] Darvin Ham coaches the Bucks to a 110-93 win over the Thunder as interim head coach with Doc Rivers out
The Thunder didn’t have a chance against 2 time Cup champion Darvin Ham
NBA cup Merchant
cup merchant darvin ham stays undefeated when there is hardware on the line
2-time Hampion
GO HARD ON DEM DUDES !
SALUTE
there’s a PhD to be written on why ham is considered a complete joke despite winning multiple playoff series as HC while his replacement was called a genius all season long before embarrassing himself and badly flaming out in the first round
You’re completely ignoring roster construction. Redick’s starting center was Jaxson Hayes last year. Ain’t nobody winning shit with that bum in the starting lineup.
And Ham was stuck trying to force Westbrook into lineups with one shooter. Lakers are just a roster construction mess and have been since the chip.
People like JJ and have a parasocial defense of him from listening to his commentary and podcasts.
redick was comically awful vs the wolves the last year, im sorry. you could argue a coach has never been more singularly responsible for a series loss
got blown out at home game one because he solely prepared for a hedging defense the wolves didn’t end up running whatsoever, because of how they had guarded luka with the mavs the year before
then pulls a literally unprecedented move of keeping the same five guys in for an entire half without a single sub, which predictably ends with them running out of gas and losing in game 4
THEN his whole team quits on him in game 5 to a ridiculous degree, since he’s shown he doesnt want any of them, allowing the wolves to close the series out in LA despite basically the worst 3pt shooting performance in the history of the nba playoffs
b-b-b-b-bbbut…. darvin hamas :( /s
Anti-Pistons Legend bias. Detroit Vs. Everybody follows you home once you win a chip.
get JJ to write it with his buddy chatgpt
Helluva ballclub
Now it’s “Have a good time out there” LOL
Always has been
For all the shit he gets, he’s definitely a players coach that can get guys to play hard for him.
He just kind of sucks at the whole X’s and O’s thing
I think he’s OK that Lakers roster just had problems as it usually does
Lakers led every game in the Denver series round 1 by the half. Lost 1 game by double digits. Didn’t stop 10- runs from Denver once. Darvin was a huge factor in the Lakers losing that series that way.
At the same time those leads were obviously dubious. Denver was just a way better team and should have easily beaten the Lakers in the 1st round anyway.
Denver should have beaten the Lakers but Ham sandwich didn’t have to be the Nuggets second head coach.
Remember before Ham the Lakers didn’t even make the play-in. They had a bad team with 0 chemistry.
Before Darvin Ham, the Lakers made the play-in in 2021. They did not make the 2022 play in because LeBron and AD were injured for the majority of the season and Russ was on the team being Russell Westbrook alongside retirement year Carmelo, and last year Dwight in the rotation. Darvin didn’t make the Lakers get to the playoffs, AD and LeBron were more healthy, Russ got off the team and they got players like Rui, D’Lo and Vando on the team alongside Austin taking a leap. The Lakers got better in spite of Darvin Ham
Russ got off the team in the trade deadline and yeah they improve the roster after that, but the trade deadline is almost at 2/3s of a season.
I am not saying Ham is an amazing coach, he clearly is a motivation coach first, probably the X and Os are dealt by the assistants, and that is something that worked the first year and it didn’t after, because DeAngelo Russell, Lebron and AD stopped listening. And while JJ is a better coach in terms of results he has not done better that Darvin Ham did (conference finals and Nba Cup)
It’s hard to listen to your coach when he doesn’t know how to draw up a play. AD literally has said that the team did not know what to do defensively from large swaths of the season because Darvin never told them anything. Why would you listen to someone who’s number one offensive strategy is “give LeBron, AR or AD the ball and let them figure it out”? JJ hasn’t accomplished what Darvin has done because he’s had an older, more injured LeBron, an injured AD and the biggest NBA trade happen to his roster. It’s a flawed roster but I trust JJ more than Darvin because I know that he knows his Xs and Os.
Ah yes, the ‘robert horry is the modern GOAT’ logic. Wonderful work.
I said JJ is a better coach. But Laker fans are too harsh on a coach that didn’t do a lot with a shit team, and yes he was flawed and I understand the madness. DeAngelo Russell was your starter PG, LeBron was constantly injured and AD was worse, so much he got nicknamed Street Clothes or Day to Day Davis, and Lakers had no bench.
Lmao yes let’s take a look at that previous lakers lineup too while we’re at it
Those games all went down to the wire. The better team always wins those, but this is prime Jokic NBA Champions Denver, and they got pushed to the wire every game. It does count for something imo, in the context of hope for the next season (back then).
Let’s say both of you are right. Darvin both sucks and lakers had a flawed roster/not as good as Denver
What does that say about doc rivers and how bad he is?
No way we still have idiots doing this lmao
Yeah, I mean he had Deangelo Russel as one of the best players in the team and the dude is not even playing for the wizards today.
Heard they had a literal vampire on the team
Deangelo Russell.
the lakers roster made him never call timeouts or run any plays.
The timeout thing is separate from “never run any plays.“JJ struggled to get them to run the plays he called too. At a certain point the guys on the court have to choose to follow the coaching, and DLo is a bum who hasn’t done that in years.
different rosters. they did want to follow the plays when he was coaching the lakers. AD for example has that infamous clip where he was confused about the play and asked if he was supposed to curl and darvin ham looked like a deer in headlights in response.
Isn’t this kind of the same as Doc Rivers? Not sure about the guys playing hard for him part though.
Didn’t he lose the Lakers locker room very quickly? I get they were frustrated due to losing but the roster was ass and they had to know that.
Fuck man. Please relieve doc so we can maybe make something of this season when giannis is still here
Didn’t Giannis ask for Doc?
No he asked for Adrian Griffin
Do you think Adrian is laughing right now? I would
he asked for his eggs scrambled today but he might want them sunny side up tomorrow
Yeah and Lillard too
Wrong and wrong
Imagine thinking losing a head coach and having Ham replace him is a good idea. You literally know nothing about basketball if you think this is correct
Have you watched any of doc rivers coaching career.
No offense lakers fan, but bucks fan know how decent Ham can be a lot more than you guys. He won a championship as the lead assistant here.
Bruh doesn’t Doc have a job with the bucks even if he wants to stop coaching? I thought that’s kind of what they were transitioning him for, a more FO focused position.
That’s what all of us are hoping for
Actually, I’m not hoping for that whatsoever. I want him as far away from Milwaukee as possible.
Yeah that’s what I would think. Bro is literally one of the most elite chokers of all time. I’d say he’s quite easily on Mt. Rushmore of chokers.
Salute 🫡
They defended without foulling.
CONTEST WITHOUT FOULING
Bucks went hard on dem dudes
Yes, that’s what the title said, they went Ham.
Really liked Budenholzer. But if he would have retired after the championship. Ham would have been the perfect fit and I truly think that would have been better than anything that has happened since the end 2021 season.
Whatever you say!
Its something about Milwaukee I guess. I dunno what he was doing in LA.
I wish Pockets became yalls coach
Don’t settle.
📋 salute
Old habits die young.
That gave me PTSD
he’ll go hard on them dudes than doc
Salute!
Never underestimate Pockets
damn right we are
Lakers fans having PTSD watching this.
“Salute”
“Go hard on them dudes”
Quality of life win 🏆
what does “quality of life win” mean?
Haha honestly Darvin seems like such a nice dude
The Bucks equipment team gave him some slacks without pockets, and he responded.
Darvin “Yin Yang” Ham !!!
Guys got an aura about him
Honest question not trying to sound stupid just curious. Do NBA coaches even do anything besides give players a perspective that is from the bench instead of POV? like why do they get paid so much when it mostly seems like players just do their own shit on the court anyways and play iso ball.
they are very important and the players do not just do their own shit on the court anyways and play isoball, it just looks like that to you because you dont recognize what they’re doing respectfully
also the broadcasts aren’t allowed to show any clips of actual gameplanning so viewers only get to hear the pump up stuff
Yeah there’s a lot of YouTubers like Thinking Basketball that break down the X’s and Os
Motivation, chemistry and they run plays, rotations, minutes.
Yes, coaches do matter, as much as people hate him, Steve Kerr put a system that just clicked with the roster and made them a Dinasty, is Steve Kerr perfect? No, but he is a good coach.
Anybody is better than the franchise killer Rivers.
I know this sub loves hating on Darvin but you gotta admit
Ham - 2x NBA Cup
OKC - 0x NBA Cup
Contest without foulling.
HAVE FUN
Texas Tech legend. Dumbass Lebron got him fired
I mean they won, dude can do some motivation for sure, I don’t know for how long that works, but it worked here.
