Media was talking about the Jazz from 22-25??

Media has been saying tanking is a problem and Jazz is one of the teams for the past years now lol.

I think them not tanking harder the first few years is what is making their tanking shenanigans now look worse.

They’ve been bad for 3+years now, and they’re currently tanking egregiously compared to everyone else. If they were doing this in their first year post Spida and Rudy, I don’t think people would care as much

Yeah it seems pretty straightforward, after two years then you need to start trying. People are willing to give you the benefit of the doubt that you were just bad for a couple years but eventually you should have enough talent that you’re not purposefully trying to lose games.

Getting mad over tanking is such a weird thing. Why do you care about what the Jazz are doing. Tanking is a purely an internal NBA issue, not something fans should not give a shit about.

If Utah drafts well and starts winning a ton of games next season, no one is going to remember or care about what they did this year. If the NBA wants to do something about tanking, then they’ll do something about tanking. Otherwise, all the whining is just noise.

Adam Silver needs to grow a damn spine and create and enforce rules to get every team playing its best every night. People pay an arm and a leg to go to these games and buy 10 streaming services and merch, it’s Silvers job to maintain quality in that and so far he’s too in the owners pockets to do so effectively. you’re right but I don’t think they get any of this hate if they just traded Lauri a few seasons back so they could roll out an actual ‘development’ team and be bad from the outset rather than being too good to tank and then having to pull all these in-game tricks to counter it.

Snark aside, I do think the growing prominence and the league’s passionate embrace of gambling is contributing to a rise in skepticism about the integrity of the game to levels beyond the tinfoil hat conspiracies of previous years. If every aspect of a game and season is for sale either for gambling or picks, then the league only has itself to blame for creating this situation.

Tanking should be done at the GM level by not having win now players. The wizards and Jazz trading for allstars at the deadline and then refuse to play them and coaching to lose is not normal tanking procedure.

You’re assuming tanking by the GM and tanking by the coach are seen as equal things, but they are not.

lol they were doing this last year with Walker Kessler. a 23 year old resting during a 2 game week. and when the league finally called them out for it they trotted him out there and had him chuck up his first 3s on the season and benched him.

People said they should have traded their good players for younger prospects or picks. Nobody would really care if they had done that and genuinely been awful.

What upsets people is when they don’t trade those players, but just egregiously sit anyone with talent in the 4th quarter of a close game.

The media wanted them to tank harder by trading away veteran players like Sexton and Clarkson and to some extent Lauri, not change their rotations to lose more. 

Nah, tankies always deserve to be made fun of.

It’s insane that people think intentionally losing should be the only way to build a roster

Yeah, tank harder when your team is actually bad. Not decent enough thanks to players you get while not tank harder.

Or people can just be against teams losing on purpose.
