I don’t know why you’re being downvoted, this is pretty obviously true. Even if it wasn’t necessarily obvious on draft night, Bronny is a very playable 9th-12th guy on the bench right now and is young. Thanasis has never been more than a garbage time player.

Thanasis was drafted by the Knicks during Giannis’ second season. So it wasn’t his own team nepodrafting + Giannis was nowhere near a star yet. Dude was also playing decently at lower level pro ball in Europe and then the Developmental League.

Bronny OTOH was drafted by his dad’s team, averaged like 4.8ppg in his one season in college, and literally had a cardiac arrest that year (which he obviously seems to have recovered from, but let’s not pretend that isn’t a draft red flag).

Thanasid legit got into the league without nepotism. Bronny would have likely had to stay in college without his dad being who he is.

Legitimately no comparison.

I genuinely think it’s jealousy to an extent. They think if their brother was an NBA superstar that they’d make the league. This conversation can’t be driven by pure value to the team alone because Thanasis clearly has value to his teammates and the fans. I’ve been to games at Fiserv and people genuinely cheer for him when he gets garbage time minutes.

People can say that nepotism is bad, that’s not untrue but the people talking about Thanasis just say it’s bad because it’s bad. It’s bad because oftentimes, the nepo hire brings negative value to the company and the morale of the workers, which Thanasis doesn’t.
