So a couple things. First, could this surgery have been done in the off season without risking further injury? Second, if he was on a minutes restriction and you were trying to win, you would save his minutes for the fourth quarter.

This seems like something that could’ve waited for the off season. I’m fine with them shutting him dow, but I’m not okay with them playing him and not disclosing the minutes restriction and injury. If you want to exaggerate injuries or be overly cautious that is one thing, but you can’t pull your best players in the 4th and not have that information be out there. Not to mention they benched Lauri also.

It’s not nothing, but also not all surgeries are the same. I’m guessing this is something that could have waited until the offseason (based on what’s been reported, he has localized PVNS which isn’t awesome but isn’t terrible either)

Technically when you get a cyst incised and drained it’s a surgery and that’s pretty much nothing

Doing it early is likely better for his health than leaving it until the offseason. And it also just gives him plenty of recovery time to be ready for next season. Like I’m sure if we were looking to compete this season the surgery would wait until the offseason but we’re not so why delay the surgery.

Yeah it seems like a “clean up”, not an invasive surgery. There’s a 10-20% chance it could come back but I would not consider this a major surgery

Its really not that big deal and he could play through it, but they dont wanna win and the earlier they do the surgery, less chance it comes back. Hes gonna be fine its not even major surgery.

Reports are that he wanted to play one game at home after the trade (with a 25 min restriction) and then get the surgery. He has a tumor (PVNS)

The poetic justice I suppose was everyone thinking the new lottery odds would fix tanking, when all they did was force Washington and Utah to tank for longer since they can’t land high enough picks to actually meaningfully move forward.

Even with these poor seasons, the jazz are still 6th all time in win%. And this season there’s 5 teams currently with a worse record. These stories are making the jazz sound like the fucking Washington generals lol.

So instead of intentionally being shit, bad teams will be bad because they can’t get good players. Not every franchise is lucky enough to be a peak free agent destination or get Luka doncic for scraps.
