Do the Magic already regret the Paolo extension? Why does he play like he’s 23 going on 33?
I mean seriously, giving the very first rookie scale max extension with a player option since 2021 is ridiculous for a guy who has never had a TS% or eFG % above league average in all 4 years. We already know +/- always hates him, but Paolo’s current TS of .559 (A career high by the way!) is a full .021 below the league average of .580. His eFG % of .490 looks rough next to the league average .530, for a guy who has the ball in his hands so much. He genuinely looks like he’s moving in molasses at times this season and now he even struggles to blow by smaller wings and slow footed Centers. I remember his first career game he had that poster on Cory Joseph where he almost leaped over him!
He kind of reminds me of a better passing version of Josh Smith? the shot selection reminds me of him so much. is that kind of player you want on a max in 2027?
