NBA PR posted the following statement:

Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks has been suspended one game without pay for receiving his 16th technical foul of the 2025-26 season, it was announced today by James Jones, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations. Under NBA rules, a player or coach is automatically suspended without pay for one game once he receives his 16th technical foul during a regular season. For every two additional technical fouls received during that regular season, the player or coach will be automatically suspended without pay for an additional game. Brooks received his most recent technical foul with 6:37 remaining in the second quarter of the Suns’ 136-109 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Feb. 11 at Mortgage Matchup Center. Brooks will serve his suspension Feb. 19 when the Suns visit the San Antonio Spurs at Frost Bank Center.

I know we’re all biased but on the court they’re wildly more biased than we are. Last night Quin Snyder was complaining to the refs and you could clearly hear it on the mic ‘call it both ways’, they were up 8-0 FTs and that was the first foul called on them on the night. Their whistle had been RIDICULOUSly good and here this dude is bitchin at the ref saying call it both ways

Couldn’t catch the whole game, but I can’t blame him for being frustrated with the refs given how the whistle went in the previous game against the Mavs who shot 44 free throws to the Suns 9. And earned or not cause of his rep they do have a bias against him. Last I counted he had 3 techs rescinded this season.

Football equivalent that may explain my position: I’m a pretty calm guy. When I played, I went out, hit hard, kept my mouth shut, and avoided penalties. I played with guys that talked a lot of trash, did some extracurricular activities between whistles, and pissed off the other team. I liked playing with those guys. They brought an energy I didn’t that was good for the team.

What I didn’t like were those guys that took it too far and did dumb shit that cost us on the field. Late hits out of bounds, taunting, stupid face masks… like, go out there and be an agitator, but don’t cost us 15 yards because you can’t control yourself.

Brooks is that guy to me. Yeah, his energy is good for a team but he doesn’t always manage it in a productive way. I blame him and his dumbass foul on LeBron for that loss to the Lakers earlier this year. That kind of stuff is not good basketball or good for your team.

You’re correct and I’m not trying to defend anything, but the Suns, especially Brooks, have had a perplexing whistle all season (not talking about last night’s game)

He’s already had 2 or 3 techs rescinded, which kinda confirms that some of these are reputation based. He made a shot and lost his balance and fell onto the ground and was given a tech because of the optics of him falling and failing.

And I’ll say as a Suns fan who watched every game last year and this year… He crosses the line and it has hurt the team, but what he brings in terms of energy and fire is absolutely tangible and is one of the main reasons the Suns have improved. People might be able to imagine how bad last season was, but if you aren’t a Suns fan, you couldn’t fully understand. And I feel the same way about Dillon. If you haven’t had him on your team, you just couldn’t fully understand.
