The original Mistborn trilogy books are pretty chunky. But everything seems shorter next to any Stormlight book.

And there is absolutely no way anything releases in “a year or two” when the entire thing has only just been signed.
The main writer on this project is a methhead who can crank out words like a machine. He said the script will be ready in 5 months and I believe him.
The first draft of the script will be ready in 5 months, sure. Then it needs to be reviewed, fixed, then reviewed again, tested, etc. And then it doesn’t mean that pre-production happens immediately after either.
Storm light will be better as a show. I just hope they do it correctly.
With the amount of control Sanderson has in that deal, it’s the best shot at a good adaptation we can imagine. Especially with a studio with such a good track record.
The last time fiction has been adapted by the original author(s) of the books themselves was the expanse, and it was very well done. I’m optimistic.
