[ESPN] - John Tesh to perform ‘Roundball Rock’ live at All-Star Game
John Tesh is going to perform “Roundball Rock” at the All-Star Game on Sunday before the start of the game.
For the All-Star Game haters, Tesh may be the one highlight of the day.
BA-BA-BA-BA-BA BASKETBALL, GIMME GIMME GIMME THE BALL, BECAUSE I’M GONNA DUNK IT!
I mean, it’s a lyrics first song
It’s a little repetitive
Uh…basketball’s a little repetitive
YEAH!
High 5!
This isn’t the last you’re gonna hear of ol Dave Tesh!
I need him to do this. Can’t have it any other way.
The SNL skit is definitely funny, but the actual live performance he did in the 90’s is somehow even funnier. I’ve never seen anything like the dueling guitar and fiddle at 2:35

I raise you this:

WOOOO!
Is he bringing his brother or
Please get Tim Robinson out there to do it
If they don’t have him in full Tesh regalia singing the words, the NBA has officially lost its touch
Honestly, they just might
lol, league has 18 controversies going on
Silver & NBC - “give em some John Tesh! That’ll shut em up.”
I mean… it’s the best idea he’s had so far.
It’s the first thing I’ve seen that makes me want to watch the All-Star game honestly
literally just dangling keys in front of a bunch of children
Children don’t know what this song is, this is dangling keys in front of middle aged men
I’m partial to Dave Tesh’s version personally

If Dave Tesh isn’t there, who cares?
No Dave Tesh, no deal! Time to trash this place!
I like to think that I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson (and people rediscovering his SNL work) is entirely to thank for the resurgence of this anthem.
I’m gonna go with it being the soundtrack of NBA on NBC back in the day, and basketball fans from those days loving the song.
Yeah people obviously liked it before, I’m saying that the timing of NBC deciding to use the song again after getting NBA games lines up directly with when this sketch became a pretty prominent meme when Tim was blowing up.
Any time I hear that song someone else starts singing “buh buh buh buh basketballlll”
Any time the song is mentioned on the internet, someone immediately goes there.
Personally I never knew about the “Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-basketball” meme until this past year. I think it’s kinda lame considering how much I cherish that song for all the good memories I have from it.
You sure about that? You sure about that that’s why?
(It definitely is)
Silver pullin out all the stops
I hope he wears the Catalina outfit.
Bob Costas with the introduction
Hurts me that people think of Nelly instead of tesh when they heard the song 😔
Heart of a Champion is peak warmup music though
Ok, NOW I’m interested in watching,
Very cool!
Is Common going to rap along?
My wife and I came out to this song at our wedding. Great fucking stuff
I wonder if he’ll bring tiny hammers and gasoline
Gotta say the fixation on this song is starting to look a little desperate.
I get the 20 years of nostalgia for roundball rock when NBC didn’t have NBA coverage. But it was quirky while it was a niche thing. But now its everywhere and its annoying. I think I’ve heard the phrase “Roundball Rock” more times than I’ve heard “Cade Cunningham.” Its a bit much.
It’s amazing what a mildly amusing SNL skit can do for your career I guess
There was an SNL skit about Roundball Rock?

Part of the problem is that Fox uses it for their college basketball coverage. That’s one reason why it’s everywhere.
Yeah ditto, I like the song and it was fun as an internet meme.
But it’s like the league and the networks actually think people are tuning in for Roundball Rock? It’s the same energy as the Morbius re-release.
Tf is roundball rock? First time hearing it
The NBC theme song for basketball. NBC used to cover NBA games until like 2002. And they did it for decades prior. So for a lot of people the music became associated with basketball and it was a loss that it wasn’t in use anymore. NBC just got the rights to cover the NBA again and the nostalgia for Roundball Rock is constantly brought up and used. Too much so in my opinion.
And I see my original comment is getting downvoted. Knowing the demographics of this sub, its almost guaranteed that people are downvoting for nostalgia that they weren’t even alive for.
Ohhhh that. Ofc I’ve heard that. Its legendary and nostalgic as hell if you were born in the 90s at least.
