I’m not seeing why the Sixers are willing to let McCain go at such a low price. Yes they are overstaffed in the back court, but McCain obviously is a high ceiling player who can grow in value if they’re patient and let him develop a bit more until at least this summer, hell maybe even next. It’s a rookie contract ffs.

Going into the deadline I thought our biggest need was a rebounder or a big wing, but I’m still a huge fan of this move. Our 3-point shooting fell off a cliff starting in December and it’s good to have another guy who can give us some insurance when the whole team goes cold. Also helps that he has great potential and still on a rookie deal for awhile.

Just me or this might work in the regular season but McCain is doubtful getting any playoffs minutes this year(excluding garbage time). That defensive backcourt sounds terrible. His shooting also been up and down and generally those players really struggle come playoff time. I am not as high on McCain as lot of other on this sub. Thought the 76ers got good value from a mid round pick in a bad draft. We will see what happens.

In my opinion he is still one of the premier defensive guards in the league. Shooting fluctuates night to night and on low volume.

I think he is a starter for most teams in the league and anyone who needs a defense-first second guard (Clippers, Knicks come to mind). OKC just happens to have two other guys who are as good if not better than Dort on the bench.

I know this is mostly a meme post, but, I think Mark is trying to cook something up here with 2 movement shooters that could be potentially devastating for the league when paired with Shai. I listened to some philly pods after the trade, and Spike Eskin mentioned how even during Mccain’s bad stretch this season, he would *consistently* find himself as a positive in the +/- stat. Interesting because Shai historically has some really powerful synergy with shooters, creating busted looking +/- stats for guys like Mike Muscala, Isaiah Joe, etc. If things with Mccain work out for us, It’s possible that Daryl Morey may have boned the league here.
