We’re not going to do the extremes of resting starters in the 4th quarter or stuff (at least not yet) but we have such little size/quality in the paint that teams are able to just abuse us down low. In the 3 games since the deadline we’ve survived for 3-3.5 quarters but eventually the dam breaks and we get run over.

That makes sense. Though it also feels like Donovan does try, though I don’t see him being more than a mid coach at best, but it helps a lot when others also are tanking.

But I would have thought that the knew players would have wanted to go and prove themselves, and a lot of them can score and shoot 3s. Like the previous Celtics guy and Sexton were pretty good scorers. Though yea, I can see why the Nets might have been a problem with the size issue

Donovan is funny because I don’t know how he would do if you gave him a legit contending roster with expectations again, but he’s proven to be very good at taking these island-of-misfit-toys rosters the Bulls FO has given him and making them more than the sum of their parts. Him taking the Coby/Ayo/Matis lineup and turning us into one of the highest pace offenses in the NBA has actually made us more competitive than we even should have been.

Yea, Donovan is a strange case for me.

Like I do think that he can find something, but it also seems like they figure out how to attack what he comes up with, and then the down hill slide begins. And that he is quite slow and it take a while for them to get better again, and this repeats.

Not to mention, his in-game adjustments and timeouts are pretty bad.

Yet, he does an ok job if all you want is to be somewhat competitive in the East but maybe not make the playoffs.

I remember watching the trail blazer game in Portland, they had a lot of guys injured, but still yall went up like 20 with 7 minutes left, and they were able to tie the game or something until yall made a 3 etiher at the buzzer or with a couple seconds left. He called timeouts so late into the big run and yet couldn’t adjust. Had Portland just shot better, even like 1 or 2 more made threes, they probably win. But somehow yall got a fun win.
