We need a secondary ball handler to relieve pressure on Brunson because in the playoffs teams will press him full court. So it’s important that st times: Jose, Hart, Mikal and Kolek bring the ball up
Brunson has been playing off ball more this season
Watching Brunson get pressed 94ft . Tyler kolek when pressured withers . Alvarado is a much better ball handler than kolek . This was a much needed acquisition .

Brunson doesn’t need to be walking the ball up the court and initiating the offense 100% of the time. It’s not really about one of them being on or off the ball in the actual offense it’s just who is going to walk up the court and deal with ball pressure.
It’s interesting that he has the ball in his highlights?
This isn’t a Thibs coached team anymore - outside of our bigs anyone gets involved to initiate our offense or bring the ball up the court.
Lots of JBs best looks get generated by having him start off ball and getting lost in the pick & roll coverage from our opponents
Only in crunch time and important possessions do we still rely on JB to carry the ball the full court.
We need other guys to bring the ball up. It can’t all be on Brunson it’s not that complicated.
Mike Brown has been running 2 PG lineups with Brunson off ball for stretches.It’s been pretty effective most of the time.Brunson is a quality spot up shooter and moves well.
Also last playoffs Brunson would get beat up and waste a lot of energy going against full court pressure all game.Thibs would let Hart or Mikal bring the ball up but that’s kind of iffy under pressure.
