Anthony Davis arrives to the Wizards locker room
First and last time he puts on the jersey this season lol
Correct, it will promptly be raised to the rafters
Greatest wizard to wear 23
I’d upvote you - but you’re currently sitting at 45
DNP - Turbulence
If im the wizards, im not letting that man Walk on snow
All that to just sit out
Doubt it. He’ll probably do more promo material besides just this one.
I’ve never seen the Wizards locker room before, that is pretty sweet.
IIRC it was renovated recently.
I hope it’s baby proof
That’s what Ant said
https://youtu.be/jymyhQkkEDc?si=lqNUHnCNc-ZTAFY7
The old one looks bad
That first butt slap by Deni was really aggressive
It was to Rus, the love there can’t be understated, for Deni he THE vet for him, and Westbrook said he believed in him from the start. I don’t think people understand how much Deni appreciates him for his welcome to the NBA process (in 2020 which was insane during the hight of covid, and his injury)
Russell Westbrook was also a mentor for Deni Avdija.
Isn’t that what the comment above you is saying?
It’s cool to see the older players help along the young guys, and for that to pay off as they grow into new stars.
Yeah but also it was Russ that first mentored Deni and took him under his wing so there’s real appreciation there.
Sure but Westbrook was a mentor to Deni, really believed in him and showed him the ropes
Not sure if i agree. New one looks cold, sterile and boring, but I’m sure it’s more comfortable being newly renovated.
That’s not bad, it’s just dated.
Old one looked better, new one looks too corporate and almost like a fraud copy of the Clippers one.
Does it have a ballroom now?
The whole arena has been undergoing renovations. DC paid Ted Leonsis $800 million to stay through 2050 instead of moving.
I haven’t been yet, but what I’ve heard is that it’s been mixed reviews from fans.
It does look pretty awesome, seems like they removed the gun lockers tho?
Gilbert Arenas had them retrofitted into his personal residence.
That’s funny
Well we know Ja aint going to the wizards then
It’s nothing compared to the Clippers. You could live there, but it’s also surprising to hear that this locker room is better than the Lakers apparently.
The Buss’ were illiquid so I’m not surprised they didn’t spend to upgrade their locker room.
Mark Walter bouta install some crazy shit
EVERYONE GETS A FREE SPACESHIP
Staples center is owned by AEG, not the Buss family. They don’t have any control over how the building is designed or set up. That being said, the locker rooms were renovated this past off season.
it used to be terrible, like embarrassingly bad. it just got upgraded.
Looks super similar to the Hornets locker room. Even the doors on the locker look the same
This reminds me of when Blake Griffin got sent to Detroit. The fun times are over
I saw a video of the hornets one and I was very impressed
Clippers have the best locker room
Clippers locker room looks like a Sephora.
Well, in other teams, they only film the locker room when there’s a win. That might be why.
I refuse to believe the Wiz have a better locker room than the Lakers 😂
Lakers just renovated their locker room before the start of this season. It was probably outdated while he was here.
Insane all that success from Kobe. Busses really were cheap 😵💫
The lakers don’t actually even own their stadium, it’s owned by the current owners of the LA kings, the lakers are renters, which kind of makes it crazier that the clippers were the ones to get their own stadium first
Not really. The lakers used to be the only wealth the buss family really had.
The clippers had a billionaire owner who just aspired for more.
Some people really think Jerry Buss was Jerry Jones when in reality he was more Al Davis.
Gotta give him credit for making the Lakers and the NBA (pre and post Jordan) the brands they are today, but he was a local real estate magnate, not Ballmer or Paul Allen.
Yep. I remember a post from like a decade ago where they asked why the lakers didn’t just buy the best of the best of everything and someone pointed out the Lakers were 99% of the buss family worth, meanwhile the clippers are almost a rounding error on Steve’s balance sheet.
Craziest money math I’m always reminded of: Mike Tyson made 300 million before going bankrupt. If you made 50K a year, it would talk…6000 years to make that much. We’re talking before the pyramids.
If you made 1 million a day POST TAX, it would take you 2600 years to match Elon musks current net worth.
Right? Not be a homer, but LAL is is easily one of the top 3 5 global sports franchises and that’s all on Jerry Buss.
You’re severely underestimating soccer here. Globally top 3 are all soccer
You’re right. LAL is prob 4 or 5 compared to Real Mardid, Man U, Barcelona based on a quick search. Insane how the Cowboys remain the most valuable global sports franchise.
Aspiration is a big thing for Ballmer
The Lakers always had minority ownership of Staples/Crypto. Yes AEG/Kings owns the majority, but the Lakers had some equity, unlike the Clippers who were pure tenants
Doubt they wanna sell the arena since they lease it for tons of stuff
Its what having no income and just living off your dads wealth does.
TBF Jeanie could have one of the most successful occupations in the world (doctor, lawyers whatever) and still would not make a fraction of the difference here.
1 person’s wealth does not impact a billion dollar corporation
The Wizards’ locker room was recently renovated, similar to what the Lakers did.
Didn’t know thx Bucky
The Lakers is actually pretty average compared to teams across other sports even after the renovation. Look at some college football teams locker rooms. Those things are insane.
In fairness those are greater than most nba teams 😂
Because they’re out in middle of rural college towns.
If you look at the practice facilities of NBA teams, they’re usually better than the arena locker rooms if the arena is in downtown of a major city (since they put them out in the suburbs.) Like the 76ers practice facility is night and day different from their stadium, which isn’t in a great part of town but they built their practice facility in camden where it use to be abandoned warehouses.
Manchester United’s dressing room looks like a high school. Some teams just stick to the basics
We went on a tour of Stamford bridge in 2019, and my high school had a nicer locker room then the did. It was kinda unsettling tbh.
I wouldn’t be surprised. The buss family didnt even own the arena.
In fairness I doubt the owners would ever sell Staples, make too much from licensing it in general.
They need a rebrand, man. That’s basically the same uniform that Marcin Gortat was rocking.
IMO theres no point unless theyre playing well.
What’s a rebrand worth when you play like shit? The new design simply becomes tainted by losing.
Wait until you get another Wall/Beal level team and rebrand then.
They have some promising young dudes and just traded for two guys who have been All-Stars recently. Are they not gonna try to win next year? Maybe they wont be great, but you have to start somewhere.
Their current branding is not only boring, but it reeks of tanking.
If Trae/George/Coulibaly/Davis/Sarr isn’t a playoff team next season then something went terribly wrong. Wiz have put together a fun squad that could even win a playoff series with further development and good injury luck.
Utah’s highlighter yellow jerseys from a while back comes to mind
Ad should be as lucky to wear something Gortat the Goat wore.
Hey, that was just for time reference. Gortat was a beast.
Facts. The Polish Hammer is goated. BBQ pierogi alert
Why do we need a rebrand? Do you think teams should rebrand every X years?
No offense dawg but I hate those regular jerseys. They don’t pop at all nor do they seem representative of anything in particular.
Quite the opposite, I think teams should find something that works and keep it for decades. But I don’t think y’all’s current look works at all.
No offense taken, I didn’t pick the jerseys lol.
Just your initial comment cane off to me as “they need to rebrand, those jerseys are old”. Understandable if you don’t like em though
Fair enough but nah I like continuity.
Teams like the Celtics, Blazers, Knicks, etc should never change the overall design of their base jerseys.
The Jazz are a good example of a team that should stop now because their latest rebrand is fucking sweet.
Because your team is called the Wizards
I like the old blue ones of the Arenas days
A lot of people say they hate em, but the gold jerseys and black shorts are some of my favorite nba jerseys ever from any team
They desperately need a name change as well
nothing says capital of the US like a wizard
They should go back to the Bullets.
Look into the history of the Wizards mascot, no team has ever needed a bigger rebrand than the Wizards.
They went from G.Wiz to G-Man, to now G-Wiz.
Wizards have scrubbed literally any existence of G.Wiz. Smh.
Those jerseys are nice. I think its a great thing thay they’re pretty identical to the ones they had in the 70s
Speaking of which….wtf are OKC waiting for??
That locker room does look great
He looks stoked…
Tbh he probably is. It couldn’t be fun to play in a place that’s actively heckling the GM for trading for you. Washington has a very low bar for fanbase acceptance, even if he doesn’t play they’ll have expected it anyways. They loved Westbrook.
The lack of pressure everyday to perform might be a nice break for him.
I also just think DC is a pretty sweet place to live. Expensive for regular people, but he isn’t that for sure.
that being said, part of what I like about it is how walkable it is and their subway system and the free museums, none of which likely matters much to AD. great food scene though, that cant hurt.
If you wanna wear the jersey and give a fuck about winning, thats good enough for me
Yeah they loved Westbrook because he’s the fuckin GOAT
AD heads to the locker room. Clockwork
He is hating every second lol
He actually loves it, his unibrow just froze in place from the snow.
At least he’s respectful about it.
I would too if i was wearing the number MJ wore in Washington, big shoes to fill
I don’t think he’s sweating being compared to wizards MJ
His final season he played 82 games averaging 37 minutes 20 points. AD won’t get even half that games played in his entire career as a wiz
Ahh, the Jordan era. If Jordan had played one more season in Washington, Kobe Bryant likely would’ve been a Wizard. Would’ve completely changed the franchise.
Idk they look like they would actually be competitive next season. AD, Sarr, and Trae has a lot of potential. But obviously AD will always be battling availability
Ya but they are the wizards. The obviously have a spell on them that prevents them from being good.
I actually like this move for him. Sheds the Luka baggage, national spotlight, chance to put monster stats, could be a great combo with Trey. I could also see him never suiting up and forcing a trade.
Your a Wizard Anthony
bro got injured with that dab up
Dap
Daþ
And immediately slips on ice
Next in the news - AD gets hurt removing new Wizards jersey. Expected to be reevaluated first of next season
crickets
Anthony Davis wizard highlight reel
I look forward to him playing 16 games as a Wizard
Ahh, so you think the Wizards are planning on giving him an extension…
…in three years.
went from sunny california with bron to whatever the hell this is
With plenty of Texas sun and disgusting heat in between
“I can definitely see myself being injured on this team and not ever using this locker room.” - AD, probably.
Future wizards all star Anthony Davis
Are the wizards like a sleeper great NBA situation?
When an owner actually spends money on things like the locker room it really makes me think that at least the owner cares.
I thought the Hawks were going to be a darkhorse team this season
Man I want him to dominate with the wizards so bad. Trae and AD have been getting shit on so much I want em to just go out and prove everyone wrong next year.
First time he’s probably had to wear a puffed up jacket in like 20+ years
Looking at the jersey like fuuuuuck…
why did the back of that jersey look so bootleg
They need to go back to the Blue and Brown design with the Wizard guy on it. That design slapped and everyone hated on it because they were still mad they couldn’t name an NBA team after ammo.
Bruh, he isn’t even playing, send that jersey to someone in need
Bro’s gonna play 1 half and then retire
he’ll never play more than 40 games in a season again
Tell him to watch out for the ice on the ground
Most underrated player in the nba at the moment.
I heard they asked lakers if they would do a swapsie. Lakers said we are good but we would trade you Kneckt for Flagg.
AD will look more like 1980’s player with that Wizards jersey
Bro landing at the North Pole
Too bad kids can’t get a game-worn jersey.
AD thinking of ways to make the team look good
“This is the greatest locker room of all time!!”
This reminds me of when Rasheed Wallace was an ATL Hawk for one game in 2004.
What an era that was.
Did he ask Jordan for that number?
That’s the first and last time he’ll see it this season
Don’t need to show him the court because he’ll never be on it!
Be sure to show him where the x-ray machine and medical table are.
They just recycled all those surplus Johnny Davis jerseys
From LA to that snow in one year lol
What’s the over-under on how many games he’ll play for the Wizards?
Made it in 1 piece 🙌 👏 👌
Sucks that the Wizards are consistently terrible because they have great jerseys.
Youuuu light my fiiiire (you light my fiiire)
surprised he didnt get hurt walking off the plane
Glad he didn’t injure himself walking down the plane steps
Over here we see Anthony Davis in his natural habitat..the locker room.
Best locker room? Really AD? 🤣. What a PR machine
Looks like he drinks windshield wiper fluid.
A few moments later…
Shots against the Lakers, although I think their locker room just got renovated.
Good dude hope he and the Wiz are doing well next season
League should force him to play a couple games (for the sake of my fantasy team & Knicks draft)
He’ll get injured walking to the locker room
Does not matter which team he plays, he will be injured most of the time. Sad fact.
Is it weird I expected they had retired 23?
Somebody should edit this with a super sad song.
Crittenton and Arenas nostalgia
They could never make me hate AD
Ted Leonsis seems like a good guy
It’s so hard being a wizards fan
I hope the Wizards do well next season.
30 win seasons BABYYYYY!
On my first day my current job got me Qdoba so I’m familiar with this level of red carpet treatment
wiz still trying to fill the hole left by Al Thornton
Come to the wizards. They have a great locker room.
First thing they showed him is where the ambulance is parked during games
Letting ad walk on snow is criminal
Was expecting an edit with him in a wheelchair or something at the end
The Wizards. Where careers go to die
I’ll always root for him. Do well, my one-browed Prince.
How are all the team’s lockers rooms the best?
He arrives then announced he’s done for the season
He got to act like he’s excited to be there🤣🤣🤣
It sucks all DC teams are trash
All fifteen games he and Trae play together will be awesome
At least he got a ring bro at this point it’s about the bag happy for him and wish the man the best in Washington
this was after he already did a 6 hour tour of the medical facilities
Think he will be more familiar with the medical room
“Where’s the hospital”.
Forget about your teammates, get acquainted with the medical staff. The real MVPs
Dont dap him up so hard, you might injure him!
Where were his street clothes? What’s the man going to wear to the games?
Now watch him never get injured again….put up ridiculous numbers
30 pt/gm
12 reb/gm
3 blocks
For 3-4 years make all-star team….finally win a dpoy
All for a team that goes 25 - 57 every year….so nobody will care
From La to Tx is one thing but now to Washington where it’s fr freezing must rly suck
Dude is so fucking washed and unwanted
Careful you don’t get hurt shaking hands
That David wizards jersey goes hard let’s pray he plays a 70 game season.
let’s be real, how long is it until he gets traded, he is already in the Phoenix Suns Shaq part of his career
For the Wizards, rolling the dice on Trae and AD makes a lot of sense. If it doesnt work due to injuries oh well, you sucked anyway.
But the upside is maybe they have a fun 50 win season or something, maybe win a playoff series, that’d be a big year for them.
Low risk high reward. I like it.
Explain to me why you would want to sign a player thats in his twilight and will spend the remainder of the current season injured?
Nothing makes sense anymore.
I’ve always liked these Wizards jerseys.
Anthony Davis Trae Young and the young guys are gonna be fucking fun next year for them.
Ugh ugh ugh. I really wanted us to trade for Davis when we still had Trae. He would fit so well next to OO, definitely gonna fit well next to Sarr.
At least I have a second team to root for if the Hawks do Hawks things.
Eh, keep the engine running at this point
Hype! Hype! Sit out the rest of the year! Rank! Draft! Pray!
His 15 games played for the franchise are going to be really sweet.
