Which is depressing, because Giannis is simply not the right call. He is 31, has had an increase in injuries over the past 3-4 years, which won’t get better.

And that’s not even talking about the fit issues. Giannis needs the ball in his hands to play his game. He can’t screen for shit, and his best defensive role is an elite help defender.

The only clear improvement would be our fast-break game (assuming that LeBron is gone by that point, who was our only fast-break playmaker).

We should invest that cap space into depth and quality upgrades on multiple positions.

I don’t think Giannis pursuit is on the cards honestly. No reporter has ever been able to actually predict the Lakers plans under Rob, Woike isn’t an exception to that.

And no the major move doesn’t necessarily mean pairing your favorite superstar to make your 2k fantasies come true. The roster has a lot of holes to fix and those picks will be used to build around Luka, not shoehorn in another superstar and surround them with G Leaguers.

It looks to me like they need size and depth esp when Lebron is gone next year. Ayton isn’t enough to contend obvs. Luka and AR are a great pairing but injury prone and very much one dimensional - so far. AR should be very valuable and this is the only situation I would trade him in: a clear number one and so many needs on the roster.

Can they get Giannis, Paolo, Tatum, etc, and contend now?

I wouldn’t be too patient with building the team around Luka. Even if it weren’t new owners, Luka is in his prime now.

3 1st and 3 swaps, and the ability to take on Giannis contract without sending Milwaukee any salary in return, giving Milwaukee a massive trade exception to later use if they want.

It’s not a good offer at all, and this only happens if Giannis demands a trade to LA and Milwaukee agrees to send him where he wants to go. It’s a stupid dream of Pelinka, and I doubt this happens. He should spend that money on Hartenstein and then spend the rest trying to steal Watson from Denver. If they match, just fill out the roster with athletic depth like Keon Ellis and Grimes.

Honestly, I don’t even like the fit between Luka and Giannis. Star chasing when you already have a superstar is plain dumb. Build depth with the cap space.
