[Highlight] Jarred Vanderbilt’s head gets entangled with Draymond Green’s arms, but the referees decide no review is needed
Why does this happen so consistently with Dray? Like other players will have maybe 2 or 3 incidents where they do something equivalent to this for their entire career, but dray has 2 or 3 every month.
I just don’t understand the mentality behind it
That’s what happens when the refs repeatedly ignore him playing football on the basketball court. He gets one tech and they close their eyes so they don’t have to eject him from the game unless it’s so blatant that they can’t swallow their whistle
What I don’t get is why no one takes issue with it. Why are you as a man allowing yourself or your teammate to get beat up? Why is no one going to step in and clock him? Where is the coach to grab some 4th string center and say “go end him”

That’s cause he has 4 rings and is a winning player. The warriors also let him go and enable this behavior too. If he didn’t have 4 rings or started his career somewhere else, I doubt this would happen.

Draymond actually suffers from a syndrome that forces high activity skin to skin connection with a ton of kinetic force. It develops in older people and I think draymond actually spoke about it. He said he’s not able to think clearly if that agressive skin to skin contact doesn’t happen after the game

Imagine that Steven Adams is beaten by a guy who is about to go up for a dunk. Instead of letting the guy dunk, he wraps the guy up with one hand so the opposing player can’t jump and swats at the ball with other. If the opposing player did manage to get off the floor, Adams would catch him with that one arm, while rooted to the spot, so he doesn’t suffer a nasty fall. That works even on a 6’9 forward like Vanderbilt, because Steven Adams is a mountain of a man, and gentle and event tempered.
Now substitute in Draymond, who is 6’6 and, while strong for that size even among NBA players, is no Steven Adams. He goes for the hold down with his left hand, but Vanderbilt, who is a 6’9 power forward, is able to jump through the grab. Draymond also swings for the ball, but even with his wingspan, he can’t reach it while rooted to the ground and so he hits Vanderbilt’s head. And he can’t properly catch Vanderbilt, because he has neither the strength nor the leverage to do so, and that makes the situation dangerous.
Draymond plays on occasion like he has Steven Adams’ physical gifts. He doesn’t, and so he ends up in weird and dangerous wrestling situations. It should be a Flagrant 1 because he’s out of control- not out of control mad, but out of control of his body.
(Note- Draymond is a dirty player, but he’s not trying to be dirty in this instance, just trying to do something he’s not capable of doing)

I like this word. Any athletes (no need to be pro) have high awareness of their limbs and body part positions. Those “ oooh I don’t know I tripped/kicked/grabbed/choked/elbowed you by accident” are mostly bullshit. Not 100%, but mostly, and definitely much rarer than what Draymond pretend to be.
I am awful for not knowing the players’ names but I saw the clip of a guy going for a block but basically getting a piggyback ride due to actual basketball related incidents, the center just safely held him up and tried to lower him after the whistle to avoid any injuries. They respected the opponent and understood it was a miscalculation or just errant timing.
If Dray jumped on his back, I couldn’t even give him the benefit of the doubt. There is just too much evidence of malicious, unnecessary conduct that he’s like the boy who cried wolf but he was really the wolf the entire time. It seems obvious but the league admitted they are very much a “highlight play” sport and sadly, this jackass generates clicks. I respected Silver for his handling of Sterling but it seems he took one big, profound moment to build goodwill only to be the same as every other commissioner. Thank you it was the Dort play, but I do remember Adams being super safe with Plumlee. Both knew that it was just freak timing anticipating one motion and the opposition just did something they didn’t expect. I have the utmost respect for that. If I was stuck guarding Adams (lmao at me 5 foot 5 guarding that brick house), if he elbowed me in the face boxing out for a rebound I’d not think twice just because it’s a physical game. With Dray, you’d almost have to assume he’s purposefully trying to start a fight or take you out of the game at this point.

Last week, he tried to play the race card with a ref and miserably failed. You can’t claim “White refs think they can put hands in peoples faces” if you’re the one walking up to the refs face every missed call. And the ref had his hands as far away from Draymonds face as he could.
I’m just so over his antics at this point. Maybe in the past they did a good job of riling up the other team and the media. But now, as a barely 500 team trying to find life in a forgone season, cut that shit out.
The referees for this game need to be checked on. Two flagrant fouls from Draymond weren’t called or even reviewed.
