The team’s free throw shooting is an underappreciated feature of their wins, I think. You can basically count on 10+ points a game coming from them making their free throws, which makes a big difference when it’s tight. Brandon is great obviously but Kon, LaMelo, Miles, etc are also all pretty reliable free throw shooters. They made 6 (or 5 can’t quite remember) points off +1 alone last night

Tbh their offense looks better than OKC. Defensively they are pretty good too.

You say that, but we’ve beaten western teams more than we’ve beaten eastern teams since the start of the year. I don’t think any western teams would be happy to play us in the playoffs, either.

Gotta stop trotting this out. East vs west is basically .500 this year. There’s 1 elite team in each conference. Just as many good teams in each. 5 absolutely terrible teams in the west, 4 in the east.

With the rise of charlotte, and Cleveland getting better at the deadline. It’s conceivable that the east could be better than the west. Hot take but eat it.

Bench scoring & ball handling still sus, Coby should help there. Miller is also still our only true wing which is a problem - when he got in foul trouble the other night we had Kon guarding KD… not ideal.

If we’re talking true contender, an Evan Mobley or Pascal Siakam to start at 4 would be nice but I’m getting a little greedy.

Stay healthy, cut down the poor shooting nights from our top 2 players. Seeing continuous development in our top 3. I know we are on an insane run right now so it’s easy to get attached to players but miles bridges might still have to go if we wanna make the jump to contender. He has been playing great recently and almost 2022 peak miles form but the 4 and 5 are literally the only spots you can make upgrades to in this starting lineup.

I’d say at best just see how this team continues to play and make decisions from there because eventually we will start picking up losses again and we can use those losses to address what our needs are and I predict our issues will mainly be twin tower front courts or elite centers like Kat, Embiid, jokic.
