Good video explaining how these ‘prediction’ businesses work. They claim to be a marketplace for users to bet against eachother. Therefore the company isn’t a bookkeeper because you’re not betting against them, you’re betting against JoSchmo. Therefore they don’t have to adhere to the same laws as casinos and betting companies etc.

Nobody forces people to gamble. But these sites can be abused with insider info which NBA personnel have plenty of. We’ve seen guys caught in the FBI investigation before but I’d say there’s a lot more happening but they’re smarter about it or just haven’t been caught yet.

I mean you have plenty of teams losing games on purpose, sitting out healthy players, limiting healthy starter mins. Those guys must be making good money. You can be on team win totals within 3-4 wins and a few hundred dollars can get you 10-15k for example. Those are hard to flag as they can seem like one time normal bets. Nice little bonus for some friends and family members.

When I was a kid, I swear gambling was considered a vice to be cautious of. You’d have no idea nowadays. It’s just another industry.
