Any coach would get frustrated by Thomas within 5 minutes. He has the uncanny ability to make the wrong decision 75% of the time. If he does pass, it’s 1 or 2 seconds late. If he does defend, it’s to gamble for a dumb steal or foul.

I don’t know who the original commenter is thinking of, but my best example here would be Andrew Wiggins. However Wiggins was far more talented as a player though. 

If you want a SG, I think Jamal Crawford did a good job with changing his reputation later on in his career. 

Zach Randolph was seen as an empty stats loser for a lot of his career. Once he got to Memphis he became pretty celebrated and is now remembered as a winning player and Grizzlies icon. 

Chauncey Billups was seen as a bust pretty deep into his career.  Now he’s in the HOF.
