[Smith] The Phoenix Suns are now about $2.2M under the luxury tax after their trade with the Milwaukee Bucks.
It’s really impressive what Phoenix has done to get out of the KD and Brad Beal debacle.
Beal’s gonna be on the books for a while and the loss of draft capital is gonna continue to hurt, but the bright side is that Ott looks like the real deal and Ishbia seems to have gotten past his drunk new owner phase.
All things considered, he’s a good owner (horrible person though). He’s willing to spend for players, and give local fans access to watch games
And $2 hotdogs
Don’t forget $2 tacos and ice cream sammies now too
How long till the Adelson’s do too 😂
Not long, they’ll pick somewhere between 2 and 4 this year
To shed all the salary and get under the aprons while improving record wise and making the playoffs is great work by the GM
They’ve done a good job and are a very respectable team but there upside is still limited. Still pretty much a best case scenario for them after how things looked
I agree
Remember when they were deep in the 2nd apron and floundering?
Now they are below the tax with a .600 win %
NGL its been a really nice season even if I know we’re not real contenders.
I’m from Maine so the Celtics are my second team and I thought I was going to have to eat shit on both fronts all year
Surprised you ain’t eatin shit from your fan base for repping Ayton 😂
Oh I do but no amount of shit could make me forget how I felt with he hit his game winning dunk in the WCF or his 20⁄19 game for game 1 of the finals.
The future was bright.
Respect for standing your ground brother. And I suppose he’s helping you all by being inconsistent on the Lakers 😂😂
That’s why we fucking hate him
We could’ve had that Ayton and been set
Have more faith brother also remove that flair lol
I’ll remove it when a suns player makes me feel like I did when he hit his game winning dunk against the clippers in game 2 of the WCF.
That was a good one till he stopped trying
Being an actual contender is obviously the best, but over-performing low expectations is way better than being a fake contender!
I agree, also I watch basketball to be entertained, and its much more entertaining to watch slightly above average guys play hard and hustle and try than it is to watch a bunch of great players coast and blow 4th quarter lead after 4th quarter lead.
I am actually looking forward to watching games this year, which is 100% opposite from last year.
It’s crazy how much of the NBA just doesn’t care and having a team of players that just have personal pride enough to try hard every night gets you to be a legitimate playoff team.
Yeah, I am definitely an old head when it comes to “team” game. The iso stuff drives me nuts.
Shooting, hustle, and defense.
If you have a team that tries their ass off and can hit 3s, you’ll be competitive every night.
Yeah, the franchise seemed completely doomed. Wild turnaround
went from 2nd apron team with shit record to below the tax while being 31-20. what the fuck
Credit to your owner for unfucking the Suns as quickly as he originally fucked them.
Whats funny is that in recent interviews he claims that he was too hands off at the beginning and trusted a lot of other people. He says he is more hands on now at trying to hire people that align with his work ethic. Without calling out Beal specifically, he had a lot to say about being shocked as a new owner that an NBA player can be so lazy
If other people was Isiah “did you just see Jerome James” Thomas then that makes sense
SOMEONE BLOW IT UP 3 HOURS TILL THE DEADLINE AND IM NOT ENTERTAINED WHERE IS THE GROUNDBREAKING LEBRON TRADEP
I mean, 4 all stars got traded.
Harden, Trei, JJJ and AD
Tingus
Yeah, for a deadline its above what most of them are for quality wise
Yeah but the other then harden the others were underwhelming. 2 Injured guys banished to wizards and an overpaid JJJ to the jazz for some reason but harden was shocking
You don’t consider Nick “DNP-coach’s decision” Richards a star player?
JOKIC FOR WEMBY TRADE INCOMING, JUST YOU WATCH.
Shams for prison
Freedom of press should not extend to sports trade speculators.
WE DID IT
Lo Hicimos!
Great work by Suns front office even though they are still paying for Bradley Beal
Perhaps the most shocking thing we’ve seen this deadline
Feel sorry for the guy who’s gonna have to listen to that Ishbia voicemail. He’s gonna be so excited.
I think Denver is the last team who has to get below the apron
League fucked, I think?
INFORM THE MASSES, THE BUCKS HAVE MADE A TRADE
Love doing favors for teams and getting nothing back.
Jesus Christ, Horst is so bad at the margin stuff it’s no wonder we’re in the position we’re in.
So? The suns don’t have a sub where you can post this?
I wonder if the Suns are having cash issues. They spent all that money on bad teams so did not get good revenue back. There also been some rumors that the team is not cash rich.
we were over the 2nd apron and about to get hit with major penalties at the end of last season. This escapes all of that
As long as your out of 2nd apron, its mostly just about money (there are some exceptions and trade rules). Ducking the tax completely is mostly just about money.
The repeater tax rate starts at 300%. If you’re not actively building a title contender, it makes no sense to stay over the tax multiple years in a row. You need to be under the tax in three out of the last four years to lose the repeater tag and this is the beginning of resetting the tax window for Phoenix.
Repeater tax is no joke, even for a billionaire
They were like 220,000 into the luxury tax. Why deal with the penalties for two guys who never even play for what is essentially peanuts money wise? They also wanted to be able to convert Bouyea to a standard contract and this move will allow them to do so.
