Outside the Luka trade, Lakers lose at margins in nearly every single transaction:

• Danny Green + FRP (that became McDaniels) for 1 year of Dennis Schroeder
• Used the 2021 MLE on Harrell who was out of the league 2 years later
• Used the 2022 MLE on Kendrick Nunn who was out of the league 2 years later
• As a consequence of giving Nunn the MLE instead of Monk they couldn’t offer Monk a sufficient raise to keep him
• Didn’t re-sign Caruso
• Chose to pick up D’Lo instead of Conley and NAW when trading away Westbrook
• Refused to trade away the 2023 FRP and used it on JHS who is now out of the league
• Used the 2023 MLE on Gabe Vincent who is soon to be out of the league
• Refused to trade away the 2024 FRP and used it on Knecht who is now glued to the bench

List goes on and on. You can blame the Westbrook trade on LeBron but at this point that was 5 years ago and nearly every move before and after has been a disaster. Dallas should want to trade with Rob.

I mean why? The Dallas Mavs literally initiated that and ruined their entire franchise for all time with that trade. There is 0 reason fans should support that team. If the Pistons gave away Cade for a washing machine that plays 20 games a year, I’d never support them again. You are all downplaying what an absolute robbery that was. The Lakers have nothing to do with poor Ownership on the other end. Sell the team, fire all the execs that let that happen. And stop blaming others for not understanding basic basketball. Even a prime healthy AD wouldn’t be worth that trade to begin with 

Fair or not, this is also why the new Lakers ownership has to clean house. Pelinka’s history follows him, and now this Luka heist. He could be incompetent/competent, but either way, he’s just not going to get a fair shake with these deals because of his reputation

All of their players are too good to trade (Luka, LeBron, Austin) on expiring (Rui) or bad (Knecht, Vando, Vincent).

Even if the Mavs were open to a trade what even is a realistic offer that makes sense for both teams. Gabe Vincent/Knecht is not getting it done.

When I was in middle school, I had a PSP and a friend of mine just got the brand new iPod Touch 4g at the time. I remember jokingly asking him if he wanted to trade my PSP for the iPod. He obviously said no cause it was a stupid trade. The next day he came to school and said let’s do it. We traded. It didn’t take long for him to regret it, realizing it wasn’t a fair trade.
