Raptors clearly aren’t real contenders right now, might as well take a stab at the AD health lottery. If he’s healthy, Barnes and Davis in the playoffs will conquer worlds defensively.

AD is a great player but he barely plays. Unless we are literally giving up salary I don’t see why we would go for him

AD’s agent working overtime. I mean, it does makes sense. Raptors are in the playoffs, have an injured center to use for salary matching, have additional players available to match, and could use an upgrade to be competitive.

Mavs are looking to shed salary and acquire assets for a player not in the future plans.

The problem is that the Raptors have no interest in payinf AD a longterm extention at big money like he wants and the Mavs arent going to like what kind of draft compensation Toronto can offer of an oft-injured AD. Given that he was the cornerstone of the Luka tarde, I feel like nothing reasonable will ever be enough

So to me this says the raps wouldn’t budge on including a first in the Barrett/poetl/ogbaji for sabonis, so they’re now looking elsewhere for a backup deal(AD) while keeping one foot in the door with the sabonis deal- maybe just a leverage play to go to the kings with an AD deal structure and tell them “last chance or we do this”?

I’m probably against any AD trade, unless an opposing GM gets a serious case of the stupids. The upside gamble of how good he is when on the court is worth a little on the chance that he does get healthy. That possibility is worth more than I’d personally give up if I was another team.

If I were the Mavs I wouldn’t trade AD and let him sit out the rest of the season. Then hire the best medical personnel to get his body as ready as possible for next season. That way you can start competing next season or him being healthy will maximize his value in a trade.

When he has time to get his body right he is capable of being available. He played 76 games in the 2023-2024 season and actually was close to matching Jokic in the 1st round of the playoffs.

Just sit out AD and let him fix all of his lower body issues as much as possible. Building strength, get his conditioning up, lose weight, get treatment, heal, do whatever to make sure he’s in the best shape of his life. Give him his longest possible offseason

Most active could be doing a lot of heavy lifting here, could’ve just been a call that lasted 30 minutes and that’s the only interest they’ve had in Day-to-Day Davis
