[Highlight] Collin Gillespie becomes gumby and avoids the 3pt foul bait from Jerami Grant
Bud benched this guy
[deleted]
So did Doc. Bud coached last year the way Chubbs coaches at the beginning of Happy Gilmore.
Bend those knees…..
Don’t slander Chubbs like that.
You really talking about the coach of the greatest Golfer ever like it’s a bad thing 😮💨. Next you’re going to tell me Air Bud did everything by himself 🙄
Can’t defend huh?
I sure love when people comment on our players having clearly never watched them play meaningful minutes lmao
Lmao coward deleted his comment
Meanwhile Tyus Jones was getting 27 minutes a game and wasn’t good against good or bad teams
Bro made a statement without checking his stats
suns beat both East and West top seeded teams in January
Confidently wrong
This is an elite skill to have in this days NBA.
The way he avoids the flail was masterful.
The fact that you’re right is such conclusive proof that the rules around this play are just horribly conceived.
You aren’t lying. It was even worse before they realized that the shooter kicking the offensive player isn’t right
Not even a good rule for “player safety” when it just results in the offense constantly trying to initiate contact
Collin Gillespie saved me.
Collin Gillespie is my dad
Im over 40, and Collin is also my father.
*Daddy
Fathery
Collin Gillespie is my favorite sport.
I love it when he dribble up and down the court.
Isn’t this an offensive foul?
They won’t call this, this play is rewarded league wide
I think the tide is starting the turn.
From memory, in the last few weeks all of Wemby, Lebron and SGA (called for offensive) weren’t rewarded for “kicking out”, and in the last 40 seconds of Spurs-Hornets a review overturned a foul call of De’Aaron Fox on a Brandon Miller 3 was overturned, because Fox was jumping sideways “in his own plane” and not into Miller (which I rightly think was also not called offensive because is still allowed to have his normal shooting motion - it wasn’t a really egregious/abnormal kickout that would warrant an offensive foul)
Eh. There are clips of it getting called correctly every year but they always end up going back to letting the foul baiting happen.
Until they make it a priority refs are just gonna keep the status quo.
Whether or not they call it offensive, defensive, or not a foul at all depends who is losing and how late into the game it is. Here’s what I’ve seen watching a ton of games this year:
People always complain about Steph’s whistle but then don’t say anything when he’s been one of the kings of this particular move for years and years.
And nobody says anything about the fact he and harden were the kings of kicking their legs out too draw 3 FTs either
I guess nobody touched nobody. But it should be some kind of shame based fouling for the attempt
They literally made a rule against flopping, they’ll just never call it.
Yes this is the Jerami Grant special, he does this every shot. He’s not kicking out but he flops onto the ground every time
He gets a crazy 3 point whistle honestly. Guess that comes with being a vet and knowing how to sell them
I remember Jae Crowder had the same thing with us lol
It was a nice perk
Grant does it every three
He been fouled 16 times shooting 3s. Refs keep falling for it
Guys have been doing this for awhile, throwing themselves at the defender to initiate a foul
Steph Curry does this a lot, Harden practically perfected it
I saw it called an offensive foul the other day. They’re not allowed to jump forward into the defender.
No. He didn’t kick his leg out. No contact was made.
No need to call it a foul when he never touched anybody - as long as refs stop calling it a defensive foul when the shooter/dribbler deliberately throws his arms or body into the defense, players would stop doing it.
The shooter and the defender literally never touched. How would it be an offensive foul?
Looks like a natural shooting motion to me. That isn’t sarcasm either. He’s a right handed shooter with his left foot in front, so the twist is a way to align his body with the hoop. Jumping forward is also natural and he’s not going crazy far forward or splaying his legs out.
He jumps from behind the line and ends with his leg at the top of the circle, that is a ridiculous extension
it also looks like he’s shooting on the catch going right. doesn’t necessarily mean he’s flailing his legs he might just be his momentum is making him drift forward
The fact your downvoted for this comment is crazy, this sub thinks everything under the sun is foul baiting. This is clearly a natural shooting motion, jerami grant is literally on the move exploding out of the dribble move to get to his shot… these idiots who’ve never picked up a ball think he’s supposed to go straight up and down are out of their minds, that’s not how physics work
NBA gotta start utilizing the flopping tech. Just call 1-2 a game and these diva ballerinas will instantly stop doing whatever this is
Players get rewarded for flopping all the time and there is absolutely no reason not to do it unless you count a 0.01% chance they will call a flop tech as a disincentive. It’s beyond obvious that needs to change if they ever want this to stop but they just do not care. There’s no reason not to flop right now.
This is embarrassing for the nba
Ugly cheap basketball. Grant knew that shot wasn’t going on and that was never the intention.
It sucks when i play more ethical hoops at my local gym than these pros. Be like me and avoid all contact 😂
They were down by 4 with 5 seconds left in the game, of course that was the intention. It was dumb to even be close enough to almost foul.
Grant jumps forward EVERY 3 trying to get fouled its a joke
I think he’s fallen down on at least 70% of his threes this season.
Sometimes I think the ball actually hits rim before he decides to just sit down on the court. He’s like top 5 in 3pt fouled calls and I think a majority are made up lol.
There were doing that shit more than I expected
It’s all that Jerami has left
When the shooter obviously initiates contact and is rewarded the defensive foul, it’s irritating.
The clip from the Michigan-Michigan State game a few days ago was insane. The defender’s closeout was basically a fly-by to the side and the shooter lunged to the right and almost completely undercut him mid-air and got free throws out of it
the fact that Grant regularly gets this call is insane
Embarrassing from Grant, good shit Collin, own that foul baiter.
Beautiful reference, you don’t see Gumby poppin up too much these days. Also Collin is the man
Landing space foul was one of worst changes to nba rules we’ve ever seen.
Foulbaiting and flopping is ruining the sport. Makes pro players look like uncoordinated babies.
Collin G!
The league would be better if this were called a some sort of flopping foul on Grant. The offensive player “attacking” the defender to get a foul is one of the lamest parts of the game
“Eneke the bird says that since men have learned to shoot without missing, he has learned to fly without perching” – Chinua Achebe
Still a foul if shai, his hitbox is just bigger
Grant went for the go-move in today’s nba, fall on the floor and scream waiting for a call… luckily for us, refs didn’t bite…
My man.
Pulllin the chair at the 3PT line, NBA in 2026 is wild
Denver Legend
Im all for foul baiting, it is a part of the game, but when every SINGLE solitary element of the game has its own version of foul baiting, it starts to just feel like im watching premier league.
imagine if Gillespie was edited out of the clip lmao
He just keeps trying to touch Collin even after falling. Uses his legs it seems to push towards still. Maybe not but I think if an offensive player keeps going after the defensive player for some touchies then that should be an offensive interference 15 yard penalty
As a team, Portland seems to be the most foul baiting team.
Grant is bad with this. Deni draws lots of contact. Who else though?
Demi flops, Camara any time a pick is near him defensively he flops, Grant above, Love is aggressive driving but not as much a flopper. I guess it’s just those 3 so maybe not the worst in the league but up there
Deni has the most and 1s in the league
You cant really consistently make an and 1 flopping
I can if it’s not a foul, he is aggressive and generates contact. This is more an argument against how the refs call it. The one generating the contact should not be rewarded
You clearly don’t understand basketball if you think being aggressive and generating contact is foul baiting
Both sides of the ball can generate contact without fouling. Jrue, dort, and other defenders are great at making contact on defense that is completely legal. Just watch highlights on jrue getting some strong chest bumps.
The defender’s are not getting called fouls because deni generates contact. They’re fouling because they can’t handle deni’s contact.
Physicality is completely allowed through the rules from both players.
You are taking my statement a little too extreme and obviously every play is situational. Yes, contact is legal. I was saying his aggression tricks refs more than defenders handling the contact or not, hence “foul baiting.” Although that term could be debatable in this situation. I was speaking generally in my original comment
Mathurin is similar
Sga and mj will still get a whistle with this
