[Highlights] Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 8 mid-range jumpers and one step back 3 against the Denver Nuggets last night (out of 11 made shots)
Insane shooting per usual
Those are some weird looking free throws
I know we’re just being goofballs but he made 11 field goals, and 11 free throws last night so… but yeah
Stop fouling his ass then
Okay coach
Proof that the midrange will always be important.
It’s never not been important, it’s just that not everybody on the team should be shooting them like they used to. Superstar players? Yep, fire away, Shoot from anywhere. Their job is to punish teams for leaving the middy open. Good shooters? If it’s wide open, go for it, but don’t try to dribble into it. Everyone else? Find a more efficient shot. Your defensive minded forward doesn’t need to be shooting from midrange.
Always!!!
He’s such a midrange merchant
Top 3 SGA performance this season. Dissected everything Denver threw at him
That’s a big claim considering his season, but you might be right.
The Bucks game on the road, Clippers game on the road and the Lakers at home might be the other candidates.
He’s 1 of 3 players that every time he shoots the ball I think it’s going in 100% of the time.
The others are PJ Washington and Naz Reid.
Did Andrew Wiggins just make 1000%?
*Against OKC. Wiggins too.
Don’t forget Trey Murphy III
Naz Reid.
What’s it like being on the receiving end of this?
You can ask all 29 teams because he’s been doing it almost every night this year. Has to be most consistent star in the league.
28 teams, Hornets still exist
They didn’t middy us, they went insane from 3 Was lamelos behind the backboard considered a middy? Hmmm
Shai’s handle is underrated.
His ball control is severely underrated also. His low TO numbers are pretty insane given the defensive schemes and double teams thrown at him on a nightly basis.
MJ is the only guy out of all the 30+ ppg season players to be close to shais to numbers
The 2nd clip is crazy I have to admit
I haven’t seen enough about it lol. I went nuts when I first saw it.
Idk how it can be its one of the best handles ever and arguably the best ever for his size
Because the nba is filled with people that claim he doesnt have a deep bag.
Ridiculous. Even when you expect what he does he controls pace so well he can throw off contest timings and can draw just enough space to get a shot off
Mid range demon who plays great defense and doesn’t rely on the 3 ball. The exact kinda player everyone was begging for during the Celtics championship run.
Better than Kobe
Lmao
What’s funny? Shai isn’t a inefficient ball hog
Can the man just rest? Why is he catching strays in order to prop up SGA. SGA doesnt need that
19 is legal clowb
What?

Just referencing this
5 championships, 18 time all star Kobe, right?
Kobe was the second best player on 3 of those championships teams. He also only has one MVP and for the looks of it, Shai is about to get his second and is peaking higher
I swear some of you all just started watching the NBA.
SGA could never compete with Denver Kobe
Middies in traffic will always be my favourite shot
Hardest shot in the league. Too much traffic and rarely open. But he makes them all the time.
His shot form and release point are just a work of art. His game is so aesthetically pleasing.
It’s crazy how he doesn’t actually shoot the ball till he’s on the way down in his jump
Smooth
He’s played well against Denver the last few years but just seemed so elite, so smooth, so accurate last night. Respect 🫡. Hopefully the nuggets can get some guys back from injury and play well enough to compete with this version of the thunder
Going to be super weird going into a match-up with Denver in the play-offs. Both teams been super injured seemingly all year.
Fingers crossed we get a series this year with both teams at full strength. GGs, can’t believe we still have to play you three times this regular season 😅
He single handedly destroyed them. Hats off to Walkace and them 3pt shooters but SGA set them up flawlessly.
Denver should be very worried…
As people told that fanbase many times:
Jokic will get his once healthy but without Gordon and Brauns aggression they can’t match up well vs OKC, Wolves and Rockets.
Oh good is it overreact to one game time again?
Nope. It’s a rock-paper-scissor situation where these teams just don’t sit well with Denver.
No drama, clear arguments.
Yeah I’m just not really scared of the Rockets without their biggest offensive rebounding weapon or the Timberwolves. The thunder are the thunder, they’re the best team in the league but we took them to 7 last year with a worse team, and the thunder don’t look particularly better than last year. Jokic JUST came back after a month off and 3 of our starting 5 are still out
We are 3rd in the west while being riddled with injuries. I don’t think we would be favorites against the thunder but I’m certainly not “very concerned”. All your points (except Jamal not being able to handle physicality, don’t even really know what you mean by that honestly) are fair but Val and Brown are like our 9th and 10th men. If val can be better than DeAndre Jordan of last year and brown can play good defense in the 2nd lineup we are better than last year
You say without Gordon and Braun we can’t matchup with OKC the spurs or Rockets but like, duh. Most teams wont have a great shot in the playoffs missing half their starting 5.
Great points. But remember, OKC matured a lot since then, and they actually won the title before maturing 100%.
I root for Denver in that series, don’t get me wrong.
Ehhhh I do get the maturation argument, but genuinely I do not believe they look better this year than they did last year. Championship hangover is very real. I think the matchup would all just come down to injuries. Cam Johnson just started looking good when he got injured, AG was incredible, but Braun was not having a good year prior to getting hurt, then on OKCs side, JDub looked genuinely bad this year in between injuries and OKC looked worse in the time he was back
If JDub is not back to himself of last year come the playoffs and we have AG back I would favor us. If JDub DOES come back strong I would probably favor them even if AG, Braun, and Cam Johnson are back and playing well
It all comes down to things we really can’t know. I’ll be concerned if they beat us again once we’re a bit healthier. I just can’t overstate how much more confident I am in our depth compared to last year, while thinking roughly the same of OKC.
The championship often comes down to who can be the healthiest the longest and I think that series would be a prime example
His middy game is so clean
nobody in the nba is doing it like him
Basically less athletic Kobe but more shiftiness.
He’s a better player offensively than Kobe at this point. No slight on Kobe. SGA is just insanenly efficient. We’re watching one of the best offensive players ever.
No. They are close but no he’s not better than Kobe.
Why so dogmatic?
Shai is a better ballhandler, scooter and slasher than Kobe Was
Kobe averaged 35 points per game with worse spacing and strictier rules on offense. Are we really just going to ignore those things? Comparing Shai to Kobe is alright but to straight up say he’s better is just disrespectful. I’d get a beating here if I say Giannis is way better than Lebron. If Giannis had DWade and Bosh and Kyrie and K Love I bet he wins the same number of rings if not more.
Shai has had 4 seasons straight of 30+ points average with over 50% efficiency. Hes just now starting to shoot more 3s… I want you to understand that kobe couldn’t do that 1 time in his career and it truly is a crazy stat for 1 season. Here is SGA about to literally pass Kareem Abdul Jabars record for consistent 20 point games and you want to say Kobe is better offensively? Sga also sat out 19 4rth quarters…
My boy kobe was more entertaining but he would miss a shit ton of his shots. We used to make fun of kobe for never passing the ball and taking all the shots.
He shoots similar shots as Kobe did, but he just makes them so much more. Has to be the most deflating feeling as a defender.
I’m in awe of how money that shot is for him. Imagine how many reps it had to take for Shai to get this shot to this level.
It also looks like he’s releasing the ball when he’s already on the way down from his jump. Maybe that delay is helping him line up that shot
It’s also impressive that he creates most of his buckets himself
The middies were extra smooth last night
10% more efficient & 20% less free throws version of Kobe
All the people who downvoted this post should get a shadow ban. Instantly r/NBA would be a better place. Nothing of value would be lost
The most ethical basketball ever played
Mid range maestro
Unguardable
keepin the middy alive in today’s game!
i hope kids watch sga and learn you can be tactical and get the good shots midrange
poetry in motion right there
Smoothest player in the game
There’s something about the way he uses his elbow like a scope. You guys notice it too?
Gotta give him props, super clean handle and jumper. Is it not a carry/double dribble at like 0:43 when he fully puts his hand under the ball and then dribbles and then pulls up? Or did the defender touch the ball somewhere in there?
