From the Baron days, crash days, big AL, Kemba. Was rooting so hard for the likes of Sean May, Okafor to pan out. The Jordan years were pain lmao. Big fan of Melo honestly, i thought he’s underrated but i understand he plays dumb sometimes before.
It’s great watching these guys start to turn it on, especially as we’ve seen the potential for all these guys for awhile. I think Lee’s defensive system has finally clicked and it’s got guys like LaMelo locked in on effort and discipline.
The wild thing is LaMelo hasn’t really gone supernova lately, which he is still 100% capable of. He’s just very focused on running the system and getting his guys in the right spots. When the pendulum swings towards a little bit more aggression again things could get insane.

i’ll even go further and say at his current level, he’s the best and most impactful defensive player the nba has ever seen. when he’s on the court, the entire opposing team’s offense shifts strategies. players literally give up open layups and shots in the paint when they sense wemby is there. in terms of man-to-man defense and help defense, i don’t think any player can match up with him.
Wemby has actually stopped contesting every shot now because so many players won’t even put it up in front of him, and a few times the Magic burned him tonight by going ahead and shooting it.
It’s a fucking hilarious kind of rock paper scissor where Wemby will block the shit out of a few shots and then teams go back to deference, then after a while teams forget and figure “what the hell let’s go at him” and get their shot wrecked half a dozen times in a game.
