He is not an average defender. If you have eyes you should be able to know that. Defense is notoriously hard to quantify, no one video can do it justice. Idk why people on here act like jxmyhighroller is the gospel pr something.
“Eye test” is also misleading, especially considering that most of NBA fans watch only their favourite team play and do not understand the game that much. People base their opinions on highlights/lowlights and narratives created by media.
People downplay the stats than do not fit their “eye test”. Player can have some ugly lowlights and still be not as bad as you think. Some athletic guys may show some impressive defensive plays and still be less impactful as team defender than eye test shows.

Luke, PP, Joe Johnson, and other move in slow motion, but have subtle movements that allow them to throw defenders off balance. The first step doesn’t look as impressive as a Harden or some elite driver, but it must be good because Luka can always get to his spot on the floor. So I don’t doubt that first step is a lot quicker than it looks on TV.
He’s not wrong, Luka and Jokic can drop 40 a game if they wanted to, no matter who’s guarding them, they move slow with precision.
