Yea I mean this is it. It’s all relative. There aren’t good prospects on any team. Herro is the best player return but it comes with less picks and he’s not winning you any championships. So they gotta if they’d rather play the lottery with picks or get a guy who raises the team floor a lot. Herro at least makes them competitive and fun to watch from a fan perspective but from a front office one, they aren’t getting free agents. Need to land a dude in the draft

The only teams that can put together “great” packages are OKC, SAS, and ATL. I seriously doubt OKC and SAS would trade for him so that just leaves ATL with their picks.

And not only is the Golden State offer not going to be the best offer, but it would also completely gut their team to even come close.

It would leave them with Steph, Giannis, Draymond and a bunch of guys who would be the #10 guy and on any other playoff team. Guys that should be relegated to garbage minutes would instead be playing 30+ mpg in the playoffs. A team that looks like that is not a serious contender to win a title. And Golden State is going to give up all their draft picks to make that team happen? Color me skeptical.

The problem here is that this is a good draft year. With multiple generational players. While future drafts might not have those prospects. The team that is sitting pretty right now is Portland. They can shove Milwaukees own picks back at that for whichever team offers them the best side deal.

If Milwaukee can wait, the Heat can offer more picks after the season. While I’d love for the Heat to get Giannis now, I curious about why Milwaukee wouldn’t wait. I guess if he’s demanding a trade, that would be their motivation.

Kinda depends on what Milwaukee wants to do. The picks are worse, and while the talent is better I (personally) think Milwaukee would want to do a full rebuild and they’d have to flip Herro and Jaquez to get more assets. And I don’t think Herro is really all that appealing to most teams. He’s the rare All-Star that cannot possibly carry a team to a title. I’m not even sure he could carry a team to the conference finals.

It also doesn’t help that Spoelstra has basically shit-talked Kel’El Ware for a season and a half. I’m still high on his potential, but Spoelstra feels about Ware the way Kerr seems to feel about Kuminga.

Yes. ESPN specifically has turned on the propaganda machine because talking about the warriors gets clicks and views. There’s no chance the warriors dump all their future picks for Giannis. The GS front office kind of sucks but they aren’t so dumb that they’re not aware that if they did that, one there would be no way to fill out the team around Steph and Giannis and two they will be in the same situation as the buck in 2-3 years when Steph retires and Giannis is older.

Because the Bucks will realistically have very little leverage. If what we’ve been told that Giannis asked out and the Bucks ignored him, which would justify why he has been so angry all season long (other than the terrible basketball), then you get into an offseason where:

• Giannis is on an expiring contract
• He can use his trade kicker as a no-trade clause under the 2nd apron
• He can say “I’m hitting FA no matter what”

And they would’ve wasted one more year of his prime, even after asking out. So there’s a very realistic chance this gets very ugly.

If Giannis says he won’t resign there, then there’s no reason to give up the house for a short term rental.

In negotiations, you take the stance that those were outrageous overpays and just have to beat the other available offers. If the Bucks are setting the line at a Gobert/Bridges return, they probably won’t get a deal done

Picks are more valuable then ever and timeline matters for those picks.

Right now, the Warriors package would include the most picks. After the season, it’s hard to say… but a lot of other teams could get a lot closer. But in terms of what deal leaves enough on the roster to give Giannis a good team to play with? Almost none of the hypothetical ones. Giannis is going to wind up going to a team that’s basically in the same shape as the Bucks, minus Doc Rivers (so I guess that’s a win?)… in that sense, the Warriors deal might make the most sense because it’s pick-heavy so whatever roster is left over might be decentish around Giannis and Steph. But if Giannis wants the best shot at winning, he stays in Milwaukee until free agency and goes wherever he wants. All of the trade scenarios are less likely to lead to a title than waiting until free agency.

What’s the rush? They put the team in a bad spot to please him. It didn’t work. They don’t have to try to please him anymore.

Teams in recent history went a bit nuts with trading about a million picks and players for great players, KD trade, PG trade. Seems like we are back to where the NBA was before then where the picks are more valuable, teams are not willing to send everything they have for aging stars. He is 31, we don’t know how Giannis will age, maybe he regresses to a top 10 player in a year or 2, it sounds crazy to say but stuff like that happens. Maybe he is not great in 4 years when he is 35. If everyone aged like Bron, I am sure teams would throw everything at Giannis right now

Well to be fair all these fan groups are idiot homers overrating their guys.  Spurs fans act like Keldon Jameson is untouchable in a Giannis trade.  It’s laughable. 

They could be the instant title favorites for the next few years by moving a package around Dylan Harper. But fans have themselves convinced their title window is years from now despite the fact we’ve seen several teams peak while their stars are 21-23 years old and never get that far again. Whether it’s the Shaq/Penny Magic, the Durant/Westbrook/Harden Thunder, the Rose/Noah Bulls, etc.  These teams assumed they’d have plenty of time.  I get there were all sorts of random circumstances that prevented it but the simple fact is that window can slam shut faster than you expect.  

I wouldn’t bank of Wemby, Castle and Harper being some contender of the future when Wemby, Giannis, Castle and Fox can be the favorite of the present. 

At best 1, maybe 2 of those picks are likely to be good. Even taking what you said into account, an additional hope is that GS is a pretty poorly run org from an on court perspective. Steph and Kerr and barely keeping them afloat right now.

Timmy had a good roster at his twilight years enough to sustain him til retirement. Maybe what I can remember is Dirk and Kobe. Most recent superstars like Durant, Harden, and Lebron are jumping ships because they realized the management dont care about them and will rebuild if needed. Unlike them, Curry is basically the franchise. Compared to Dirk and Kobe, Steph is still competitive and arguably still in the Top 10 in the league even to this age. That means you still have a shot if you surround him with a good roster.

It doesn’t… The picks are going to be outside the top 15 for the next 3 years and potentially after that. The Bucks may as well see where the lottery ends up this year and make a decision then. They have no reason to trade him right now.

Seriously, everyone who is being honest with themselves recognizes the warriors offer is not great. The Bucks might as well keep Giannis until the Summer and see where the lottery lands.
